Hon, Diplomat Simon Mulongo is a brain i have admired since his days in Parliament in the 1990s and as RDC Hoima. And when he joined the Diplomatic table, i have no doubt he is talking from his heart not only as a diplomat, but a Patriot and PanAfricanist. UPDF gives us pride as a vangard of African spirit of brotherhood. The recent lives lost are notin vain but an altar of sacrife for a humanity cause
He is just a propagandist for the government...He claims Alshabab attacked embassies? If he refers to embassies of Tanzania and Kenya that was Al Qaeda... unfortunately Solomon didn't counter his claims
Solomon today u were humbled no hard questions asked the gentleman was very well informed with facts and reality. U can’t mix politics with security of a nation
i don't think it's about being humbled or what - but clarifying the hard questions is what's important, if the guest can properly answer and clear out the air about any issues, then that's even better... i personally enjoyed the discussion, because i learned about the challenges and reason why our UPDF is there in the first place and why we can't just pull out now!
This show was largely a context and analysis show on the issue. Amb. Mulongo is a security analyst on regional issues. I hosted him to give us context. Thank you so much for watching.
@@gracemona4237I agree. The guest claimed Al shabab attacked embassies..which embassies is he referring to? If it is Kenya and Tanzania embassies that was Al Qaeda... Solomon should have countered that but he seems not to be well versed with the topic
Good analysis...we can not wait for the fire to reach our door steps.... in my view i think the UPDF is doing a great job out there. for the fallen soldiers, we are grateful for your sacrifice
I am Somali and grateful for your country’s help. but for eliminating Al shabab those rates the Somali military and African Union has to address those who support Al shabab, they get help from the Middle East the weapons they get comes from Yemen. Somalia needs costal guards if they make sure that Al shabab don’t get weapon supplies, then it will be much easier to destroy them.
Wish u interview Gen Kayanja Muhanga on the current security both foreign and domestic.....we are getting worried as senior citizens,,,,it's alot of killings Robberies and terrorism.thank you sir Solomon
Mr. Solomon, this analysis was very reassuring, especially when the official communique from the Mbuya and Nakasero is still gray - the Ambassador was clear, informative and very articulate - really enjoyed the show and learned a lot!
Great debator and looks has clear understanding of the context. I worked in Somalia for international humanitariam organizations, the achievement of AMISOM the diplomat talked about are all correct. Mogadishu international airport has improved greatly due to role of AMISOM in providing security and Turkey doing the airport management work. However i also think foreign forces will not stay indefinately in Somalia. Hence more efforts should be on training and increasing number of Somalia forces because in the long run its Somalis who should govern Somalia. I salute AMISOM/ATMIS for their sacrifes.
Sserwamja, sometimes if you have a neighbor rearing bees or habouring a forest with wild cats thT keep attacking your livestock or disturbing children as tgey play or graze in your compound, rrasob calls for yiur action that may ot e limited to talking but hot pursuits like going after them to stop the attack. WAR is about brokering peace, building peace, enforcing peace, keeping peace and our presence in Somalia falls squarely into these parameters
Most people don’t realise that you can’t build capacity in a day. It’s takes time armies are not just made of riflemen there is a need for well educated officers, mechanised divisions, airforce, comms & signalling, logistics etc. these take years to build.
If Alshabab killed many let us accept and improve. No arm is strong that can't be attacked. They cannot take the body. The army need to be conscious or leave the mission unless there's is danger for the country
But I want to pose this question to Amb.Mulongo What were the terms set between The USA and the Taliban before walking out of Afghanistan? and don't you think the funders of the Mission could be intensionally frustrating the African forces to have a depiction of what happened to them in recent Afghanistan....and more
Very on spot analysis, indeed these people are just after frustrating the African forces. Their drone was able to detect what ever was happening, why did they fail to react ?
The war in Afghanistan, should have shown you that no one can win a war against nationalistic insurgents , they are supported by the people. Meanwhile the federal government is unpopular, and that's why it's being fought against. Al shabaab will at one time take over Somalia, but the relationship with foreign countries that fought them because of their cause will be terrible. And Uganda as a country has its progress because of these wars. The defense budget alone is crippling other crucial sectors like health, education etc. Imagine updf is in congo, in Somalia, central Africa, all at the same time. Government shud know Ugandans only need development within our boundaries. If updf activities in those countries are not of specific individuals gain in form of misusable funds from UN , then Uganda has no reason to keep having our forces fighting in those countries. As well as the exorbitant defense budget.
The question I have in my head which always pazo me a lot what is are our beloved brothers and sisters in Amry still doing in Somalia honestly many questions but no one to answer 😢😢😢
The cause.and mission for which we went to Somalia still needs our presence; Restore Sanity, protec5 our brothers but also remember Uganda was once salvaged by TPDF during Nyerere's time. Perhaps if Tanzania had not helped host, train and back UNLF/A the story of our political history would have been different and may be we wouldn't be debating here
The states which have split from the original Somalia are peaceful. Why can't we split the current Somalia which is governed from Mogadishu into small states and gain peace
I think it will be a very good idea that man send his family in Somalia on the front line. This people have made the Ugandan army 🪖 like business. And they don't even pay them as they should. What no sense 🛑
Irespect Mr Simon mulongo, his intentions were ugly and atrap for the nation, This is a testament to the struggle of Mr mahamed farmajo and his determination to preserve the existence of the nation and sovereignty of the Somali people.
There is no reason for our troops to die in that foreign land because if you see the Somalis comments on our soldiers being killed by Alshabab is enough
