Trust me it was better back then... that's one reason why the country is so divided...one side remembers what America is all about (the 80's) and the other side wants to turn it into the dark ages. The 80's rocked!
I was lucky enough to of grown up during the 80's/early 90's. TV, music, movies etc did seem better back then despite not having anywhere near the kinda media/tech we have today. Society as a whole seemed to be allot more happier. I can't be sure if my love for the 80's has meaning or is more to do with nostalgia though. It's hard to make a call when you're that age.
I dont think 80's kids realize how good they had it. They hade amazing music that played on the radios. Stuff like Cyndi Lauper, Michael Jackson, Aerosmith, and Journey Not his annoying Katy Perry, Rihanna, and Kesha crap that plays 100 times a day. And the movies were amazing. So many classics, that I never get tired of watching like Goonies, The Breakfast Club, and Back to the Future. Now, we only get 1 or 2 amazing movies a year.
Also Lethal Weapon, Roadhouse, Escape from New York, Revenge of the Nerds, Overboard, The Jerk, Bachelor Party, The Princess Bride, Stand by Me, The Neverending Story, Full Metal Jacket, The Lost Boys, Blue Velvet, The Blue Lagoon, Nine to Five, Stir Crazy, Christine, The Fog, Used Cars, Running Man, Gandhi, Young Guns, Child's Play, 48 Hrs, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, An Officer and a Gentleman, The Big Chill, Cocoon, Tron, She's Having a Baby, Fright Night, Stripes, Neighbors, Cat People, Conan the Barbarian, Creepshow, The Dark Crystal, The Man with Two Brains, Sleepaway Camp, Major League, Red Dawn, Funny Farm, The Fly, Children of the Corn, Up the Creek, 2010 First Contact, Dune, The Golden Child, 9 1/2 Weeks, Highlander, Running Scared, Big Trouble in Little China, Heartburn, RoboCop, Moonstruck, Angel Heart, Spaceballs, Adventures in Babysitting, Innerspace, Hellraiser, Date with an Angel, Wall Street, Empire of the Sun, Colors, Bloodsport, Above the Law, Tapeheads, , They Live, Steel Magnolias, The Burbs, Weekend at Bernie's, The Abyss, Look who's Talking, Tango and Cash, and Mask. Sorry for the long list but I had to, grew up with these movies.🌈
The Terminator, E.T., Back to the Future, The Empire Strikes Back, Spaceballs, The Karate Kid, First Blood, Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cop & Lethal Weapon rules!!!
you forgot ,Angel, Screwballs, Manniquin, Annie, Beastmaster, Black Christmas, Mask(with cher), The new kids ( with laura laughlin from full house), return of the living dead, Up the creek, Willow, The woman in red, where the red fern grows, H.O.T.S, Monster squad, Roger rabbit, Revenge of the nerds and who forgets Superman?
wow this is a really good list your very diverse i like it lol hmmm maybe u might wanna add the color purple & yea gandhi is a good movie & full metal jacket was pretty popualr also ... angel heart with robert deniro & working girl & empire of the sun & the secret of my success...moonstruck...the witches of eastwick...who framed roger rabbit...dead poets society & maybe twins buht overall i love ur list 5 stars
Dario Argento's Inferno, the Big Red One, the Hidden, Full Metal Jacket, the Osterman Weekend, Blow Out, Demons, Lucas, Can't Buy Me Love, etc. Still, all in all, a good list.
Good job on this list! If I picked my top 3 fav's, they would be 1.Fatal Attraction 2.The Breakfast Club 3.Stand By Me...Also its hard to remember all the best ones, but I thought St. Elmos's Fire was really good also. It was somewhat of a spin-off from The Breakfast Club. Also"Arthur" with Dudley Moore & Liza Minnelli was pretty good movie ('81).
I'm glad I grew up in the 80's, movies were so epic back then. You can tell since they remake just about every 80's movie these days, mainly movies that can't be topped. One movie that also should be in that list "Critters" that was such a nice movie. Btw what is the song of the vid?

1. Raging Bull 2. Full Metal Jacket 3. Radio Days 4. Ghostbusters 5. Beetlejuice 6. The Breakfast Club 7. Die Hard 8. Caddyshack 9. The Terminator 10. Ferris Bueller's Day Off
whats the name of the movie where this highschool girl started dressing like a boy and she/he became very popular with the girls at school and ended up falling for this dude in the end?...i use to love that one
The great thing about 80's movies is they didn't need any fancy plots, or plot devices (car chases, explosions). They were just about real people and real life. The experiences could very well have been our own during some period of our childhood. I've been Ferris Bueller, and countless others before. You just can't do that with movies now. Nobody would want to watch a 2 hour movie about a kid playing Call of Duty on XBox Live.
wow this is a really good list your very diverse i like it lol hmmm maybe u might wanna add the color purple & yea gandhi is a good movie & full metal jacket was pretty popualr also ... angel heart with robert deniro & working girl
Some missings, but good job. :) Big Trouble in Little China (1986) Frantic (1988) Once Upon a Time in America (1984) Nuovo Cinema Paradiso (1988) Amadeus (1984) The Elephant Man (1980) Zelig (1983) After Hours (1985) Blow Out (1981) Paris, Texas (1984) They Live (1988)
I'm gonna thumbs up this even though you left out some of the best movies, because it's a good list nonetheless. The foremost being Conan The Barbarian. That is not just some subjective pick either. That movie is considered to have one of the best movie sound tracks ever made to this day.
ohh & empire of the sun & the secret of my success...moonstruck...the witches of eastwick...who framed roger rabbit...dead poets society & maybe twins buht overall i love ur list 5 stars
Yeah, I think you picked up on the point I was eluding to... back then we actually went out and had real experiences like that. If we were to write autobiography's of our childhoods, it'd be pretty interesting. Maybe even movie worthy. Sadly, most kids stories today wouldn't consist of much more than Halo & Twitter feeds. Mixed emotions. I envy them for still being young, but pity them for not really living, like we did.
Haha yep,Mr. ''you gotta to be fucking kidding me?'' himself,David Clennon.Did you also notice David Rasche, best known as 80's cult sitcom hero sledgehammer? He always ends up giving the best performance in anything he does.Wonderful actor.
''because your obsessed with kubrick'' As opposed to being obsessed with me,and you're own inflated self-importance?You're ego is so bruised, you stalk me on youtube. That deserves an industrial strength lol ''that's you talking in your sleep lol'' joyandian:(while sleeping 3 days ago) ''Mr.KUBRICKIAN didn't embarrass me on youtube...no..no he didn't...no''
does anyone know what the name of the movie that came out in the early-mid 80s about teams racing to a destination (similar to amazing race). all the teams had on different color sweaters. there was this real nerdy guy with glasses. ive seen him in other movies cant think of his name.
Hi guys, I remember from my childhood a film about a airliner crash. As I remember a woman survived and she was trying to stay alive in forest aroud the airliner debris. do you remember such film ? It is shown in TV in 1987-88 as I remember. I dont know why I am hangup with that film, but it had been affected me. I would want to watch it now again.
A hundred?Whew...gimme some time,but here the top 5 films i love and watch endlessly. 1.full metal jacket(1987) 2.cutter's way(1981) 3.the shining(1980) 4.the thing(1982) 5.where the buffalo roam(1980)(Would be a perfect comedy,if they deleted that horribly unconvincing acid trip scene on the plane)
No Steven Segal? (Above The Law) I thought that was a landmark action movie. Here are a few favs of mine that I would add to your already awsome list: Less Than Zero, Live and Die in L.A., No Man's Land, Good Morning Vietam, Gates of Hell, Full Metal Jacket. I have several others I like, but I don't consider them worthy of your list.
I want to know if anyone can tell me, what is the name of the animated movie from the 80's that included music from earth, wind and fire and heavy metal groups ?
Good collection of films but there are a lot missing from your list here are a few examples that i know. xtro, bmx bandits, adventures of buckaroo banzai, zone troopers, deep star six, leviathan, my science project, misfits of science, c.h.u.d, the vindicator, the wraith, silent rage, strykker, any of the hallowe'en films, hell comes to frogtown, they live, one crazy summer, the beast within, the big bet, my first turn on, any of the ernest films
Shouldn't an effective war film leave you cold? There is humanity in full metal jacket, but it's extremely subtle.Look at cowboy as he watches hartman belittle pyle,or joker's face after the blanket party beating. And how does kubrick's technique get in the way of the film? What people forget about full metal jacket,is at it's heart,a dark comedy, but more bitter and antagonistic.Kubrick follows each dramatic scene, with either humor or irony,or both.He re-invented the satire,it speaks for itself
I would have hoped "The Last Star Fighter" and "Flash Gordon" could have been in here, but other than that, everything else is accounted for. Oh, and "Revenge of the Nerds." that would have been a good choice too. But I know you had to choose Raiders over that.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit from 1988 was good too. I don't know if you like Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, I liked that too, and don't forget Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
