My Rekon 35 HD PnP arrived with a long, unattached cable dangling out the back. The GPS is connected, so what the hell is this cable for? No mention in the manual or anywhere online!
Very informative video as always, and an interesting frame design. Re. the 1303.5 motors- I put some on my 4” long range quad as they’re 2/3 the weight of 1404s. Mine are only 2500kv on 4s and Gemfan biblades but it has plenty of power and flies at sort of 35% throttle most of the time. My only issue is that propwash performance is horrible- I think the motors don’t have enough torque at lower throttle for a 250g quad. Other than that they’re great. Have you noticed that with these high kv motors on 3.5”?
I have not noticed a huge torque problem unless you fly really aggressively. For that you just have to move up to a bigger motor. On the 4 inch prop, the 1303.5 motor isn't big enough to handle the weight of the prop so only useful for slow cruising. Forget about racing or acro.
Great review as always Albert! BTW, I've had similar issues with the GPS not getting satellites quickly even though I "prelocked" them the day before. I came to find out that time of day is also important, so if you first got your GPS lock in the evening and then didn't fly withing the same time range the next day, it will still take a long time to get a lock. Once you've got a lock for a specific location and time of day, it should retain that in memory and lock quicker the next time. I'm actually in your area for a couple weeks on a work trip (from Canada). I was actually just out looking for spots to fly today!
Have you guys managed to have the GPS lock working correctly? The best I could have was to start flying with it working and finally in midflight it stopped to update, on osd it always shows 14 satellites even when disconnected.
Hi. Really nice review! Some question, if i would like to build one with similar setup (AIO FC, 2s 18650) but swinging 4 inch prop, what motor kV do you recommend? Does 1404 3500kV enough? Thank you..
Hello Albert, and thank you for yet another nice review. I am curious to know how the vista is powered on this quad. There should be some sort of regulator/step-up on the vista power line coming from the batteries. 18650 can be flown down to 2.5ishV and 5V won't be enough for the vista. Can you see a tiny board on the vista power line? If yes I would be quite interested to know what they used there as I am trying to built one of these from scratch ...
There is a BEC module for the Vista but I'm not able to see it without taking the drone apart. You can ask RekonFPV support for photos if you need proof.
@@AlbertKimTV Thank you for checking Albert, I will do as you suggest and ask Rekon support if they can let me know the specs of the BEC board. Stay safe!
@@AlbertKimTV yes I've had great luck with 18650batterystore. I've used their Molicel 18650 and 21700 cells. For the price you have a hard time beating them.
Hi Albert, can you tell me what kind of power module (DC9V Power Module) they used. I'm using a xl6009E1 to convert 2s to 9 volts but this doesn't work with DJI , greetings walter
I forgot to mention the separate power module that provides a constant 9V with input voltage as low as 5V. So the Li-Ion cells can go as low as 2.5v/cell and the quad/Vista will still have power. Without that power module, the Vista would shut off at 7.4v.
@@AlbertKimTV but I also carry 18650 pack on babyhawk or not, with lipo I can freestyle and crash a lot, this one only cruises, only one purpose, with the baby I can freestyle with a insta or naked as hard as a 5” with 18650 I can cruise for 27min!
So it's interesting that the overall fly time is still only 15 ish minutes, even with 2 cells... I wonder why they made it that way when you can get the same from a single cell? 🤔

I know you don't like flying for extended periods of time so I really appreciate you doing reviews on drones that aren't your preferred flying style
I appreciate that!
"it's just kind of like flying ... a semi truck". Good summation, I luv it.
😁
Reminds me of the Serenity spaceship from Firefly!
😎
One thing for sure is that the frame design is quite unique.
Yep, very different.
Awesome flying and review, Albert! 😃
Pretty interesting concept indeed!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks, you too!
12:18 I spy the Goodyear Hangar! I used to work at the costco there. I'd still love to meet and fly whoops here in Mission sometime heheh
😁
Thanks for the review Albert. I like the flight time.
Thanks for watching!
Great review as always Albert. This type of setup looks like it would be a great candidate for an HDZero VTX...
Sure, why not!
Nice... I'm waiting a while of some mass-market 2s microLongRage
😎
Niiiiice 👌👌
Happy new year, i wish you all the best 🙂
Same to you
Aahahaha he said it’s kinda like flying a semi truck! Great informative video. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
I'd love to try it with a naked Vista with the nebula nano pro.

Definitely prefer this one to the 3" eachine version. I do like capable slow poke cruisers. Can be fun to explore a new spot. Happy cruising Albert. 🤓
😎
wiah they put a higher mW VTx on the analog. makes me want to take the weight penalty on digital to get the longer range.
😎

Sir..what 18650 batt u using?and what is the discharge rate of each cell??
Gps module has to be far from digital vtx antenna thats why its so hard to aquire sat.Not an issue on analog.
Yep, that's what I said in the video. Not sure why the design doesn't change to account for this.

Ah, so time of day must be related to which satellites are above at that time of day. I think they are in geosynchronous orbit if I recall.

On 2S, 3500kv is enough to cruise but not much else. 4000kv would give better performance.

Albert, where do you get the 18650's is hard to get real ones these days.
I put a couple of links in the description.

I think it's actually part of the flight controller. I don't see a separate board.
That bottom design reminds me of the Unmagawd Remix
Yeah, right... it's been a while since I've seen anything else similar.
Hey Albert
How low will the vista go?
I forgot to mention the separate power module that provides a constant 9V with input voltage as low as 5V. So the Li-Ion cells can go as low as 2.5v/cell and the quad/Vista will still have power. Without that power module, the Vista would shut off at 7.4v.
@@AlbertKimTV thankyou
What glasses did you use?
DJI FPV V1
Would the electronics handle 2s lipo? Might fly more peppy.
Sure, it will be fine. It will be lighters so even better.
If you put 3S-4S lithium-polymer batteries in it and fly freestyle - will it [Rekon35] not burn out?
The motors might... not sure the motors can handle it.
What kind of signal is expected from the receiver if I buy the PNP version? Speksat, SBUS; PPM or something else?
That depends on the receiver you install. You'll have to set it up in Betaflight.
Noise compared to Rekon 3? (i plan to fly analog without any payload on VTC6's - AUW 210g)
Still a little louder. It's heavier overall and that's where the noise comes from.
need to try and dive a mountain...
Whoa...
Install usb adapter, shoe goo it to the board couple tiny drops by toothpick.
😎
Can I use Runcam 5?
Probably but there's no mount for it.
My babyhawk HD weights 200g with 3s 650mah, this looks heavy for what it is!
It's a different design meant to carry the 18650 batteries. Put those same batteries on the babyhawk HD and the weight will be similar.
@@AlbertKimTV but I also carry 18650 pack on babyhawk or not, with lipo I can freestyle and crash a lot, this one only cruises, only one purpose, with the baby I can freestyle with a insta or naked as hard as a 5” with 18650 I can cruise for 27min!
which propellers are on these setup?
Gemfan 3520
Where does it ship from?
china

I don't know
Need a hdzero version
Adoption will be slow but more models will eventually get it. I think they all should offer FPV-less versions so people can add whatever they want.
try sony vtc 6
Yeah those will have more flight time. I can't fly that long anyway... 🤣
battery holders need to stay in use in low power conditions, not on higher current draw power plants.
👌
Now you can vape and take your batteries out and fly them!
LOL 🚬🚬🚬
