Sold my Klipsch THX ultra2 speakers and you have me seriously thinking about replacing them with these, you actually purchased two jtr subwoofers for me about a year ago... great video
I've never stepped up to the level of LaScala with Klipsch but found the horns fatiguing with the RP280F towers I owned up until about a year ago. From what I hear, people either love or hate horn-loaded designs. Sounds like you're in the former camp. Paired with those subs of yours I bet you are smiling ear to ear! Conrgats!
The newer horns in the rp series Klipsch have a rubber lining now and it's shaped differently so the horns are way smoother than they used to be. I'm still not a klipsch fan anymore though.
Your correct John, over the years I have found people either love the sound of horns or they hate them. Not many in between. I remember hearing Klipsch for the first time at Sound Advice when I was 15 years old. I absolutely loved the detail and clarity they provided. Over the last few years, Klipsch has made an effort to smooth out the top end of their speakers while not sacrificing the clarity, detail and dynamics they are known for. Their sound certainly is not for everyone but the same can be said of any speaker. I’m grateful we have so many choices that we can find something that appeals to our listening preference
Damn you youthman! Im sitting in Sweden with my 15000usd hometheatre and now i want jtr speakers. A lot more expensive than i can afford and they dont even sell here in Sweden. Great channel and informative videos!
@@Youthman Well you've arrived in style... The JTR Noesis improved a critical element in your HT and music listening and that's mid bass slam! Many HT aficionados don't have that element or are lacking MB slam and is the only thing from stepping up to next level performance! Thx for your reply YM! 👍
OMG - Those are awesome. Selling your La Scalas? :) Just kidding... Great video! - Thanks! I've been tuning my own theater room based in part on your advice and observations - I'm already hearing an improvement.
If I could make a suggestion. Maybe mute the word “Alexa” whenever you say it and just put *Alexa* in subtitles at the bottom of the video. When you opened the video by saying “Alexa lights off.” All my Alexa’s heard it and shut all the lights off in my house. 🏡 😂
Thanks for the input. 10dB is pretty significant drop in volume without muting that section and adding a text overlay. I was trying not to take away from the flow of the video as well.
Youthman you already know the answer. Yes!!!! the JTR's are replacing the Klipsch LaScalas...lol. This is a man's dream to have those speakers. Nice shirt.
I’m just sitting here watching this with my puny little small Klipsch reference premier home theater setup... I thought my speakers were big but compared to you mine are baby’s 😂 my biggest speaker is my subwoofer klipsch spl 150 and you’re sitting over there with the size of TWO of those puppies stacked on each other for just ONE of your LCR channels 😅 damn it must be nice to be rich and spend that kind of money on the best thing ever (home theater) 🙌🏼 thank you for making these videos and giving us a glimpse of the finer things in life😊
Far from rich Petru. You are seeing the end result of 15 years of hard work, no credit cards, paying off debt, much sacrifice and LOTS of upgrades over the years.
Currently only 6:00 minutes into this video and will say I’m extremely impressed with the sound stage that Youthman will get from what’s behind the screen. This is the idea behind the THX Ultimate “Home” Cinema Certification, Trinnov, and Miller and Kreisler marriage. How want to get away from the horn speaker in the design.
Michael, what is the name of the song when you're unloading and unpacking the JTR's? It's beautiful! I wish my home theater were as awesome as yours but one day I'll get there! I'm running an all SVS set up. 3 SB-4000's, Ultra Towers and Ultra center. Prime satellites for side and rear surrounds, and 4 prime elevations for the front and rear elevations. Powering all speakers with an Outlaw 5000x (save for the heights which are powered by the receiver since I figured that'd be plenty power for them.) I want to hear your setup so badly!
A new pair of Klipsch LaScala's are around $12k while a pair of JTR Noesis 212HTR are around $6k. If you actually do replace your Klipsch speakers that will say a lot about the price-to-performance ratio of Klipsch. The company that has been the focus of your channel since inception.
You are correct. I have owned over 50 pair of Klipsch speakers. As I shared in the video, JTR offers many of the same characteristics (clarity, detail and dynamics) but take it to the next level.
The JTR's look far better than the LaScalas. You loved Klipsch for a long time, and I never thought that you would actually give them up. Great upgrade!
Thanks Rock. I will always love the sound of Klipsch, but these are definitely a much better fit behind my screen and they also sound better. I do not have any intention of replacing my RF7 III anytime soon.
We kinda talked about these in one of the Facebook groups, and both agreed that what sets these apart from any other speaker, is that midrange. It has a very full, distinct sound. I'm happy for you man. Congrats.
Nice! That system might not be beatable... Unless JTR goes with 24" subs lol. Question tho, do you have or do you think you'll need to upgrade your a/c circuits to dedicated & multiple 20amp outlets to keep the power stable and or maybe a power conditioner? Thanks 👍🏽
I have a Panamax Line Conditioner for all of my equipment. The RS2 subs are not connected to it because I have them on a switched outlet that allows me to easily turn them on/off when the wife is asleep without having to go into the menu to make changes. So far, my single 20 amp circuit is performing great with my setup. So far, no need to upgrade the power.
@@Youthman nice. I'm getting a couple of 20amp ungrades myself. With 4 SVS subs it's long over due. What's your opinion on line conditioners vs voltage regulators? I also noticed that PS Audio has Power Generators if you can share your thoughts on those that too would be appreciated. Thanks 👍🏽
Awesome congrats! A friend gave me a Panamax line conditioner and honestly it hasn’t made any audible difference in my set up. I just think it’s so expensive surge protector which is good, just don’t go into expecting it to radically transform your system. I run a dedicated 20 amp circuit for all of my equipment except for my projector. No issues with it.
Good call! I haven't heard them but on looks alone I say keep them! They are a more modern design with more modern drivers and although I haven't heard them, they should in theory sound quite a bit better than your old Klipsch system. Don't give away the Klipsch however, those are classics and still worth a lot to the the right buyer. Maybe keep them for the nostalgic value, I have an old set of Altec A7 "Voice of the Theatre" I keep just for nostalgia that will sit in the lobby area of my new theater once its built.
Man, I lowered the volume of those clips by 10dB. I thought that would certainly be enough not to trigger anyone's device. Guess I'll need to completely mute it in future videos.
The main difference between 2 12" woofers and a single 15" woofer is speed, and deflection of the woofer when starting and stopping. Did you hear any ringing from your older horn speakers, and were they thin sounding?
Great video! Awesome speakers! I have a question I have a Avr plus additional amp putting about 150 watts a channel do you think adding a second subwoofer would be a better option or adding a more powerful amp? Thanks!
Would be interesting to see your opinion after visiting a home theater or stereo set up with serious hi-end speakers like Wilson Audio, B&W, Dynaudio, Sonus Faber, Monitor Audio, etc.
I would love to tour anyone’s home theater including those speakers. My friend has the 803D3 and although they look gorgeous, I much prefer the 212HTR over them for both music and movies.
I LOVE the look of Sonus Faber. They are gorgeous. As Tristan mentioned, Jeff focuses on performance. There are plenty of brands that look fancier if that’s important to you. The 212HTR are meant to be behind an acoustic transparent screen.

I heard about JTR from you YouthMan.I never got a chance to experience any of the JTR speakers(here in India, Literally no one own's JTR I think). But from all the reviews and detailed specifications I realised they produce increadible amount of sound and immersion. Can't wait to own complete JTR set-up in my home theatre.
Congrats Mike, you're almost there. Your acoustical transparent screen, and dark ( matte gray or black ) painted walks is the way to go with JTR speakers ( they're big and bulky). This suggestion is going to hurt, spray paint your cherry stain cabinet. It just looks too old school, and doesn't match your decor. Thanks
I appreciate the kind words David. Unfortunately I’m not painting the cabinet. I’m not concerned with how it looks. There’s more sentimental value than you could ever imagine. I’m not seeking anyone’s approval but my own.
Not going to lie, my jealous meter is super HIGH right now! I need JTRs in my life right now lol. Congrats Michael 🎉🎉👏🏼👏🏼. You wanted them and it finally happened!
Where would you put 14, 18 inch subs in a 14x16 room? Does he hang them from the ceiling? Is he using them for seating? I have close to the same size room and If I put that many subs in it, there would be no room for anything else. Is there any benefit to this? 🤷♂️
Thank you Todd. Although I have not heard them side by side, the RF7 III have TONS more bottom end than my previous LaScalas but the LaScalas midrange is much better than the RF7 III. The 212HTR have an even better midrange than the LaScalas. Hope that helps.
Hey youthman. Do you have any experience with seaton speakers? I might have an opportunity to pick up a 9.2 seaton system made up of a combination of the catalyst 12c, sparks, and their submersive hp+ subwoofers. From my understanding they are in a similar class a JTR speakers, but information seems limited. Thanks in advance.
I have only heard one Seaton LCR and it was fantastic - ua-cam.com/video/COrUiPrgAYQ/v-deo.html. Seaton makes great speakers and subs. If you have a good deal on that system, go listen to it and see what you think.
I would’ve got these but instead bought the rf7iii and rc64iii. Got the towers at 1100 each and the center at 998 all brand new with shipping included. Doubt there’s anything else in that price range that will touch them. I can’t justify the difference in price i paid for the Klipsch over the jtr current prices. They look nice though!
Yeah like my professor in college used to say, you have to read my mind, not my lips LOL. If you watch any of my videos you were bound to find errors. There’s enough other places in the video where they were correct. 😀
Love the channel. Very informative!! Just moved into a new home and I’m looking to build up my home Theater. What are your thoughts on JTR 210RT and JTR 210RM vs the New Paradigm Founder 100F And the matching center. I have a large open concept living area 12,000 cubic feet.
They are 125 lb "satellite" speakers, with 12" mid-woofers. Every inch and pound directed where it matters, rather than wasting half the speaker when you cross with subs.
You said it right though. Its the next step, level over klipsch for room size and amplification. Where you can throw a avr at klipsch and sound great with the reference series rf7’s and lascala so forth. But then you want the next level of home theater the top with separate amps then you go to jtr. Awesome upgrades. Can’f wait to hear your keeping or not lol.
Love your videos and everything that you do Youthman. But I gotta ask you something. So what you are saying is that the difference in the audio from the JTR vs your LaScalas is worth the $9000 price tag?? I mean that is a pretty HUGE price.
Glad you are enjoying the content Eliot I never say any product is worth the asking price because everyone has a different amount of disposable income. To some, a $700 subwoofer might not be worth it over say a $400 subwoofer. I had the older LaScalas but the new ones are $6000 each. Same question could be asked are the new LaScalas worth their $18,000 price tag?
That’s awesome Elliot. Definitely let me know how do you like them once you get them and and set up. I’m literally sitting in the theater room now about to shoot a video of an experience I just had with my JTR set up. Every day I’m simply blown away at how incredible they sound.
@@Youthman I fine tuned the target curve so that I could have satisfying bass without male voices getting unnaturally boomy (which is annoying.) It can be done. It just takes tweaking to find the right curve. Regarding localization, I found that ported subs have distracting localization problems over 80hz, but good sealed subs have no localization issues until 120hz. You'd swear that the bass comes from the respective speakers. Distortion harmonics localize first, and ports do that a bit, long before audible chuffing. Distortion harmonics are at multiples of what the crossover lets through. Every room is so different with subs, so I can't guarantee anything, but it's easy enough to try and see if you like it.
I love the 3 thumbs down...i said to Michael along time ago...you are doing something right when you get haters...they make me laugh....hello youthman glad to see your progression...hope everyone is safe and doing well ...great video, chow
I get thumb downs before a premiere video goes live. I have empathy for someone that chooses to be negative before even watching the video. Must be a sad life.
I was originally going to go with Arendal Sound 1723 THX. Now looking at JTR and D-Sonic M3a-6100-7, but looks like you are doing fine with a lower powered amp. And cheaper!
It’s never a bad idea to have more power, but the 212HTR are extremely efficient at 101dB with 1 watt So it does not take a ton of power to drive them well past Reference levels
@@Youthman stand by for a shock the music really goes deep i have all my courtains set to 322 audessy and what a difference it openes all speakers to a new level a breath of fresh air woofer set at 420
The Polks don’t compare. And not just in max output. Think of it this way, the actual cost of the coaxial compression driver alone is $900. The entire Polk R700 speaker might cost 1/2 that.
Great question. No, the only thing I have to rerun is Audyssey because that is the last step in the process when you have a MiniDSP because the subs are calibrated first to get the flattest response, then you run Audyssey to smooth out the remaining.

I didn’t know about JTR until a few years ago when several of my subscribers insisted I hear them. Truly next level speakers and subs.
Wow, Impressive!! Ur New Friends. I wonder what The King of Monsters Sound like. I'll probably hear it here in Delaware, lol - Stay Safe, Be Safe!!!!
Not going to lie, my jealous meter is super HIGH right now! I need JTRs in my life right now lol. Congrats Michael 🎉🎉👏🏼👏🏼. You wanted them and it finally happened!
Thank you Porfy. It will happen bro. Patience and hard work and it will happen.
@@Youthman You’re absolutely right. Patience and hard work is the key!
How much power are you feeding your lcr and surrounds. What amp or amps are you using? Is it the Monolith 11x? 3x200 8x100?
Yes on the Monolith 11X
Highly recommend The Lost World: Jurassic Park. That movie will have your speakers cranking in no time!!!
WOW! How are your ears man? This is great.
My ears are great. Remember, I can easily control the volume. ;)
@@Youthman I love the lascalas .... I'm sad to see them go
I see the speakers and think
Yes you will change
Hello, did it take the full 3 months for your speakers to be built?
Does Klipsch sound signature mix good with Jeff's speakers sound signature in general?
I run RS62 II as my side and rear surrounds and it sounds great to my ears.
Where would you put 14, 18 inch subs in a 14x16 room? Does he hang them from the ceiling? Is he using them for seating? I have close to the same size room and If I put that many subs in it, there would be no room for anything else.
Is there any benefit to this? 🤷♂️
Guess you will have to wait and see. I have scheduled an updated tour of Scott's setup the first week of September.
@Youthman Hi Youthman at the beginning of this video what brand of Alexa light Bulbs did you use?
I don’t use smart bulbs. I have Alexa connected to my Lutron Hub which controls my Lutron Casetta Dinmers.
Youthman! As always I love your enthusiasm and your videos. You do such a great job. Question, how do these jtr 12’s compare to the rf7iii’s?
Thank you Todd. Although I have not heard them side by side, the RF7 III have TONS more bottom end than my previous LaScalas but the LaScalas midrange is much better than the RF7 III. The 212HTR have an even better midrange than the LaScalas. Hope that helps.
I think they will. 👍
Glad you love them! Not trying to be critical but you called them 212HTMs in a couple of places.
Yeah like my professor in college used to say, you have to read my mind, not my lips LOL. If you watch any of my videos you were bound to find errors. There’s enough other places in the video where they were correct. 😀
@@Youthman I know. Just joking around....
Love the channel. Very informative!! Just moved into a new home and I’m looking to build up my home Theater. What are your thoughts on JTR 210RT and JTR 210RM vs the New Paradigm Founder 100F And the matching center. I have a large open concept living area 12,000 cubic feet.
I haven’t heard the founder series so I cannot speak on those. I have heard several JTR systems and have been absolutely impressed with each one
Thank You
I live in St.petersburg right below you and I'm about to come knock on your door with a backpack full of 4K movies 😳
Haha hit me up on Facebook Messenger. Might could arrange for a demo.
I'm surprised they only go down to 60hz... but I guess if you are using them for movies with 80hz crossover is ok.
Jeff’s subs will easily handle the bass frequencies
They are 125 lb "satellite" speakers, with 12" mid-woofers. Every inch and pound directed where it matters, rather than wasting half the speaker when you cross with subs.
I'm totally going to steal that lighting look.
When I saw that, I couldn't help hearing. "The decision of the Council will now be heard! Guilty! Guilty! Guilty! Guilty! GUILTY!"
Thank you kindly. I’m excited for the next step in my home theater journey
Love your videos and everything that you do Youthman. But I gotta ask you something.
So what you are saying is that the difference in the audio from the JTR vs your LaScalas is worth the $9000 price tag?? I mean that is a pretty HUGE price.
Glad you are enjoying the content Eliot
I never say any product is worth the asking price because everyone has a different amount of disposable income. To some, a $700 subwoofer might not be worth it over say a $400 subwoofer.
I had the older LaScalas but the new ones are $6000 each. Same question could be asked are the new LaScalas worth their $18,000 price tag?
@@Youthman very true. Well..i just emailed JTR for an order. We will see I guess.
That’s awesome Elliot. Definitely let me know how do you like them once you get them and and set up. I’m literally sitting in the theater room now about to shoot a video of an experience I just had with my JTR set up. Every day I’m simply blown away at how incredible they sound.
I like my 212s crossed at 100hz so my 4 subs can kick in on midbass. It might have more to do with the room than the 212s, though. YMMV.
Interesting. 100Hz doesn’t add vocals in your subs?
Those were his 3 old Lascalas. They're kinda bitter, I guess.
I get thumb downs before a premiere video goes live. I have empathy for someone that chooses to be negative before even watching the video. Must be a sad life.
@@robcohen that was funny....
What speakers apart from jtr speakers can you pair a jtr sub with? Coz the sub will overpower most speakers.
Your thinking is wrong, just not every speaker in the world can use all the potentiel, the JTR subwoofers have...
Very nice @Youthman we all knew it was coming. Lol
Congrats and enjoy!
So are you sticking with the 11 channel amp? I’m looking to plan an upgrade to JTR. I have heard enough from you. lol
Yes, the 11X has done an excellent job powering my entire setup. I do want to try the Emotiva XPA-DR3 on it to see if it makes any difference.
Gonna keep klipsch atmos?
I likely will as my room isn’t big enough to mount JTR’s Speakers on the ceiling
Your setup could easily be used for a gym party!
so i guess now you can keep your front speakers after calibration size to large?
Nope, still calibrate them as small. Small vs Large has nothing to do with the size of the speaker
That shirt makes me happy
Your comment makes me happy. Have a blessed day
Nice, Nice, Super Nice, that's all i have to say!!
Thanks, thanks, thank you kindly.😀
Wish I could get a JTR setup but there way over my price range.i got good speakers now but I know those would sound absolutely incredible
JTR still in WI or they already move to other state?
JTR’s has moved to South Carolina
Michael if you want to test your new speakers try the music from the film Tenet
I saw it in the theater and bought the 4K when it first came out but haven’t had the opportunity to watch it in my theater yet.
@@Youthman stand by for a shock the music really goes deep i have all my courtains set to 322 audessy and what a difference it openes all speakers to a new level a breath of fresh air woofer set at 420
It would be interested to see how they compare to the polks aside from max volume
The Polks don’t compare. And not just in max output. Think of it this way, the actual cost of the coaxial compression driver alone is $900. The entire Polk R700 speaker might cost 1/2 that.
Hey, I forgot to ask, what powers your JTR?
Monolith 11X.
I don't suppose I could get that Center LS back
What are you setting your crossover at for these speakers?
60Hz
Have u callibrate them with minidsp .
My RS2’s have been calibrated with the miniDSP - ua-cam.com/video/_ZxbM_s4vh0/v-deo.html
Dumb question... Everytime that you move your front speakers do you have to calibrate your subs with rew, minidsp and umik1?
Great question. No, the only thing I have to rerun is Audyssey because that is the last step in the process when you have a MiniDSP because the subs are calibrated first to get the flattest response, then you run Audyssey to smooth out the remaining.
@@Youthman oh ok, good to know that. Thanks enjoy your new "toy"
I wish they made an 8” version of those speakers for guys like me who have a living room setup
You might can find a set on the used market.
@@Youthman JTR made an 8” version?
