Can these garlic babies be saved?

- Tragedy struck two new garlic growers when they went upstairs online to find their garlic bed had collapsed from the winter rain and snow. With their garlic babies fully exposed to the elements and being lashed with wind, rain, and snow, we had to work quickly. But, after several hours of working in freezing temperatures, we had the garlic transplanted into a new home and tucked in from the elements. The only question that remained - would they be able to recover?

Succession potatoes!! Never a dull moment with you, Jord! Always prepared! 😂
Hahah only me would have a perfectly ready set of potatoes in my car
So much fun with garlic. 👏
Always!! One of my absolute favorite crops :D
You tricked me I thought you were pulling your garlic,,I have friends in Salmon Arm n they just pulled their garlic today n they say it’s beautiful but I’m nervous lol waiting for Jordan 👍🏼
Have you checked out our Harvesting Garlic video? That covers what I do for harvesting - which is going to be a different date/time for each of us! I think for myself about 10-14 days from now!
@@MindandSoil yes I watched it but I’m scared to pull til they big enough .. I’m in Hope BC
@@pauladenisecoutinho2203 One thing you can do is a little exploratory excavation. Using your fingers and a paint brush just remove the soil around the main stem until you get down to the bulb to see how it's looking!
Thank you for this video. I did not know about the 4 brown leaves per garlic trick. I know what I will be doing after work! Yay. What would you suggest for direct sowing in the garlic spot?
Lastly, what can cause the garlic to not grow high and strong? I am hoping for a 50% success rate for year 1. Thank you.
Great question! I am going to succession plant Beets, Carrots, Turnips, and Broccoli!!
I LOVE how happy they are with the results!!! Gardening is JOY!
Haha right!! Love those smiles!
How come they didn’t harvest the scapes? The bulbs would be noticeably larger if they had.
Ah! They did harvest them a few weeks earlier, but just cut them a little bit high up! :)
@@MindandSoil Just a bit high up! Haha!
@@tombryant4518 Hahahha - you're not wrong!
The garlic kit link isn't working, just so ya know.
Thanks so much for this heads up!!
Such a fun video! Loved the succession potatoes and the whole process ❤
