- Designer Matilda Goad charts the transformation of her London kitchen over 4 years in the second part of our renovation video series 'Evolution of a Home'. Follow her design process as she makes two rooms in to one, experiments with the layout, gets the paint colour wrong and then very right, and shows how to decorate a characterful kitchen perfect for cooking, hosting and family life.
'The Evolution of a Home with Matilda Goad' is a brand new renovation video series from House & Garden packed with ideas to copy. In 2018 House & Garden began following the renovation of the British designer and creative consultant Matilda Goad's new home. Our aim was to create a series charting the journey of a house over a period of years, to reassure people decorating their own homes that it doesn’t happen overnight. That creating a layered, interesting interior is something that happens in stages, and that those stages aren't always linear or smooth. In the first episode we followed the journey of Matilda's living room. Take a look here: www.houseandga...
Tune in on Friday October 29 2021 for Episode 3: The Bedroom and Bathroom. If you can't wait until then read our story on Matilda's home: www.houseandga...

I’ve come back to this video like 5 times already! I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to see a home that’s so different and unique, I’m sick and tired of seeing the same marble and same tiles and same colour in every kitchen. This was so refreshing and a joy to watch!
Everyone wants the latest trendiest designs and they all end up with the same rooms!
So boring!
Same
Amen she’s a very free & talented person & has beautiful insights & visions to help her get where she wants to go & of course loads of money never hurts ! Huh ?! However I have known people who have loads of money & “0” taste or vision
I absolutely love her kitchen, house. I love when people decorate with their heart as opposed to according to current trends/rules because then you can truly connect with your space.
I love the explosions of colour and the audacity to go with your gut feeling… such a change from white on white on white
I love this channel so much! I wish there were new videos every week!
Matilda’s style isn’t exactly my own but her kitchen is such a masterpiece!! But they didn’t talk about my favorite part… those custom shades in Lake August’s ‘nasturtium’ fabric! So amazing.
Do you mind saying where to find all the info?.. I just landed here by accident and love her style, I'm looking to make or have fabric shades made
@@Katie-vy5rd I really only know about this particular fabric because I follow a lot of interior designers, fabric designers etc on instagram. So I recognize things sometimes!
@@trippyvenus6062 ok thanks...doo you make roman shades per chance? Hehe I need about 4 made but can't even sew on a button...
I love that this is so different from much of what we see in the States! So much more personal.
Yes, I very rarely see American decorators work I like. Either too matchy matchy or farfetched and construed and rarely anything in great taste and personal style. Those that have that aren't in interior deco at all in the US. I love in a country where people are very into the latest trend and not very bold with color unless it's shades of the "now"g trend. She did a great job!
her kitchen is my dream! absolute masterpiece!
Okay, now I want red and white chequer board tiles. ❤️🤤
Those tiles are SO wonderful!
So lovely! That pantry is adorable. Love it all!
Love this kit+hen, it’s super realistic and doesn’t centre around an unnecessary island
Love the chequered wall..... works amazing with the green kitchen. Absolutely love...
While it’s not my style this kitchen is gorgeous! she put so much thought into every detail. I love how it has a vintage country vibe it also looks like our kitchens in the US especially with that awesome pantry
US kitchens are over designed - either v v trendy on the coasts or totally boring brown in between
Just enough whimsy to make it fun...without being too silly...Very Lovely.............
Truly she transforms her personality into a space in a creative well thought.
I love everything, everything in her house!
loving it !!!! so fresh design . I'm French, and here people follow a trend. I love discovering the English style, it feels fresher !
So unique! I would love to be in that kitchen every day! These are the colors I use in my home. That natural wood table is the size I need in my kitchen. Great ideas!!
I love her house soo much! can't wait for the next episode- so inspiring
Awww..your little one..sweet and adorbs. Just home has the same qualities. Love the kitchen. Thanks
Love love everything! Matilda is my absolute favorite interior designer :-))
i'm obsessed with this series so far! so excited for the next one
Lovely Color combination
okay.. I've watched this a thousand times and still love it!!! can't wait for the next one!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE this channel!!
Tout est si beau 🤩 Une source d’inspiration.
The kitchen is amazing, extraordinary, a golden piece..
very symmetrical and colorful.
My dream kitchen! Absolutely gorgeous, homely, and full of character! 😍😍😍
Whimsical - LOVE!
Beautiful kitchen. Thank you for sharing your ideas.
love the marriage of form and function in this floor plan and choice of materials. the end result looks so classy, timeless, and cozy. i'm obsessed with the burgundy and sage color palette up against all that brass. wonderful!
So much character & colour. I love the white hutch & chopping block. Home sweet home.. ❤❤❤
This woman has changed interior design for the better! And now we, in the audience, get to enjoy it!
Dream kitchen.. Great colour pallet
Thank goodness! A kitchen and home without all white all the time!
Fantastic kitchen! Love it
Matilda, you are a totally fantastic interior designer!! I Love Love Love ❤your kitchen, in fact your whole home!!!
Thoroughly Well Done!🎉🎉🎉
Matilda you're adorable & along with your kitchen. Looking forward to seeing more of your charming home. Thank you for sharing!!
I absolutely love this kitchen. Every detail blends very well with everything.
oh to be rich
Lol every time 😢
😂
I have no idea what the house cost to buy, but to be fair I don't think anything she did inside was ridiculously expensive. She bought lots of second hand items, painted rather than wallpaper, highstreet priced lights, built-ins using cheap wood, changed the space around but didn't build an extension . She has a good eye for design that makes it look classy, it wasn't the most expensive reno by a long way
You mean 99% of the people showcased on this channel? 😅😂
@zoesolanki961
No I think you underestimate how expensive it would have been- the fabric foe example to cover chairs would have been at least 2 thousand pounds a chair
She's upper class old money
Still fabulous style but expensive- very
the denim sofa is everything
I simply love listening to her talk-I wonder if she narrates audiobooks? lol This would be my dream kitchen-the tiled range surround is exactly what I’ve dreamed of, and the banquet is absolutely gorgeous!! I’ve got to go back and find episode 1.
Your homes is everything that is good!🙌
Like the before, after and how and why description format of this video. Her choice of colours is lovely. Interesting how a cosy farmhouse/cosy cafe vibe has been incorporated into a very high ceiling grand house. (Laura Ashley re-born?) I thought it looked inviting and liveable but drawers in drawers (eg for the cutlery) are really annoying in practice from my experience.
Loved her style
Absolutely fabulous!!!
Luvit,,Luvit
Unpretentious and functional
Well done!!
absolutely beautiful!! I have massive house envy rn...
The scallop backsplash looks great with the ridges on the front of the sink; they go together superbly!
As soon as i got a glimpse of that red & white tiled chimney i knew i had seen this kitchen before -- in House&Garden unsurprisingly. Goad's boldness and good taste is my lodestar!
Her style is perfect for me! Great choice of colors too
Love the colours
In love with the lime wash walls!
I love the blue that she didn't!!
i love this so much, the details and how every elements has its own purpose is so lovely to see.Cant wait for the next episode
So beautiful, I love the vintage feel it has ❤️ looks like an actual old kitchen that belonged to the house
love to bits!!!
I'm hooked on Matilda Goad and without offence I feel like her style is cobbled together from charity shops but so homely and inviting. I'd love a cup of tea and a piece of cake at her kitchen table. Thanks for inspiration Xxx
Seeping with creativity!! Wonderful!! My new favorite designer!! Those puffed sleeves & shell holding citrus!! 🤩😍🌌💐🌟💖
So much fun and purpose - love the lighting and the dining area!!!
Wow my absolute dream kitchen!!!!
An absolute ARTIST
Love the tiles and the color of the cabinets !
Absolutely beautiful and genuine!!
Love this!!!
That flute sink is so beautiful...can't believe she just got it for 100pounds from Ebay! I checked now and most are 400-700pounds! :O
If you are putting an extractor in a chimney and it vents straight up an unlined flue you may get damp problems. This one is venting into a side passage so not a problem.
I really like the before... timeless
Very beautiful and personal in every corner. Though that low open shelving would be destroyed by a toddler! I can see her moving the plates as her baby gets older 😂
I am enjoying this house
my favourite designer! :( thank you for this series
I love Matilda's style...it's very old fashioned and that's not a bad thing at all. Just wanna say I also liked the blue wall color in the kitchen before as well. The end result of her designs is like the room was meant to be that way.
I love all of this kitchen!❤️☺️
Everything looks beautiful. I’m loving the sage green. But I think the blue cushions in the dining area don’t blend well and kinda throw the look off.
Agreed
I love this series!
Thank you for sharing. Really enjoyed this.
What a unique style🤗🥰
"Functional Kitchen" exactly the words I've been searching for to tell my wife HAHA
More, more 🙏🏻xxx
home sweet home. 😋 💕 💖. save and warm.
Wow.your home is perfect.bravo
I'm assuming she grew up being exposed to art, culture and good education. What superb taste.
Completely love❤...
Your style🏠
Well done ! Kudos to you. You did the Details , it shows ! Wish you would tell the Paint Colors you used . Many would find it helpful!
They are in the video.
I adore your home
Fabuluoue. My dream house it is
I am delighted!
Truly Inspiring
This was so good!
Who knew we'd need construction skills!!..anddd....coloured grout!!
Can we please see every single room in her house? Such unexpected, fun style.
it was a story for a good morning coffee
I love your channel
Les anglais sont les meilleurs au monde pour la déco❤
So beautiful ✨
I love aspects of this, like the colours and the fact she didn’t go with an island! But some of the details I don’t understand, like the gap between her range and the cabinets - it would be a nightmare to clean that whenever food falls down (which it will all the time)!
Great advice
Beautiful house
Love your choices♥️
Would have separated kitchen with rough-iron glass sliding wall. Oval Saarinen is nice choice. Most perfect table.
Well I USED to have a renewable energy supplier, Matilda ,until they all went out of business...🙄 welcome to 2021. Love your bay window seating❤️
Lovely
