@@josteinv.jordet257 Genuises are people, mind you. Dumbasses too. Not saying you're part of the latter though. Oh, and I almost forgot : Jazz was created by musical geniuses.

@@josteinv.jordet257 What about that statement was racist? Calling a black man a genius doesn't take anything away from you. That's just giving respect. People come from places, background, lineages and cultures. To find fear in giving that thanks is nothing but insecurity.

Buhaina was one of the greatest bandleaders in jazz. He created a band sound that influenced so many bands and artists. So many of the greatest talents in jazz came through his band which was an institution. Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers helped nurture and create more leaders in the jazz world than practically anyone. My favorite is still the great first band with Kenny Dorham, Hank Mobley, Doug Watkins and Horace Silver. I'm very glad I got to hear Art play many times. A true jazz giant and a very humble and modest person who had immense respect and love for those masters who came before him like Sid Cattlett and Chick Webb.

DELIGHTFUL interview with a fellow Pennsylvanian. I wonder if he had every been in a coal mine; I was in one when I was a kid. It was very dark. Didn't stay in there for very long.

Such clean, simple, strong play- like a road for the rest of his band. The road..

Nice to see Mr. Blakey not spinning yarns and fibbing (though it’s hilarious when he did that) - long love the huge spirit of MASTER DRUMMER ART BLAKEY

My Dad is Jamaican and goes by a pet name. He only learned his real name when, aged 11, he found a birth certificate with his surname and date of birth but a different first name. He thought he must have had a twin brother who died and was kept secret... My grandma said "No! That's your name!" 😂
