Great episode guys! The indigenous people, tell their story through their art, which has remained throughout hundreds of years. Such a simplistic, yet plausible, way to retain information of the area around. Just imagine if we tried the same thing? Our lives a far more complicated and technology is our main resource. I take my hat off to these people. They've learnt over the centuries, to use the land and water to eat and drink, dependent of the season. Most of these paintings denote this.
Great vid team,i used to live at the east Alligator Ranger Station and looked after Ubirr art site. That area of Kakadu will alway's be my goto special spot. Thanks for the memories.🥲
Hi all, love your videos because you keep them real from the very first one to now. Have enjoyed each episode, thank you for taking the time to do them. Love watching the kids enjoying themselves .......a trip they will never forget.
Thanks Sonya for the support. We just wanted to show people a realistic and honest lap of Australia. I'm just happy people are enjoying them. The kids are doing so good considering how much they have given up (school, friends, the house and the dog)
6'39" I'm so in love with Australia right now" It says it all, this is why I love watching your travels. Your appreciation of the country in which we live is so infectious and the practical way that you meet challenges is inspiring. Keep up the good work and please reconsider letting us show our appreciation as patreons.
Thanks so much Rick. I really like getting our natural reactions on camera to show people. Not a scriptef voice over. And Australia is such a fantastic place, I've never been overseas, but I know how lucky we are
Another great episode guys. That Galar you have holds the camera well when flying. Great training, excellent pet. The fishing line tangle would have broken your heart. Nothing worse. Great photography and background music. Cheers.
Love Kakadu! As a teacher myself I loved the indigenous history and culture that we were able to share with our kids when we explored. Ubirr at sunset is our most treasured keepsake from Kakadu. Nanguluwur and Nourlangie art sites were spectacular. The billabong there too was pretty with the birdlife and plants. Thanks for your videos. P.s was this around the beginning of September? We experienced Kakadu in early July and the days were hot then.
Stunning footage. 😍 I loved seeing all the wonderful ancient art and the crocs so close as you tried to catch a barra. 🙂 You say you are tired after 5 months on the road. You have packed a LOT into that time. I wonder if your trip was longer, say a year, could you have stayed longer at each location and relax a bit more or would you have just packed even more into your itinerary? It's an interesting conundrum. 😎 But either way it has been an epic journey and I have loved following your exploits.
It's a tricky puzzle, too long down the coast and we would have to wait out the wet, and then we would have to go back south. So I think we timed it just about right. If we didn't have to wait 3 weeks at the start of our trip due to Covid, it would have been even better
Hey guys, wow awesome scenery looks great!. The look on Lara’s face when the kids spooled up there rods was priceless (can’t believe there wasn’t any bleeps🤣). I sure hope Lara and Joe get a Barra before the end of the series 🤞. Look forward to next week. Cheers Scoot
Kakadu has soo much to see. It could take a couple of months to actually see 90% of it and take it in. I was lucky to live in Darwin for a year and go to get out to see a lot of NT. Lucky I had local contacts coz as you say, it's hard to research Kakadu and all NT tbh. It's east to find the major tourist stuff, but the most mind blowing stuff is almost a secret untill you get there. There's signage and even WiFi points but you'd never know unless you were going that way or know locals. There's hours if not days of extra stuff you never planned for. Luv ya vids. 🤙
Thanks Sloth-e for the support 👍. You are so lucky to be able to experience the real Kakadu, so jealous! We would have loved to stay longer and explore, we'll definitely be back soon
Great episode this week guys, especially the drone shots. Never caught a barra either. Was up that way in mid 70s and did not even know Kakadu existed. Not sure it did back then. Take care guys and safe travels.
Why have you only got 5.1k subscribers? Again another awesome job. Genuine effort not peddling paid promotions etc. what an epic trip. How long before you gotta head for home?
Only 5.1 subs but they are all genuine people who like adventure, all the comments are so positive, I'm stoked to have such a amazing audience. Thanks Conelli, qlds not far away now unfortunately
You just made it in time to drive across Cahills Crossing as it’s now flooded and closed for the wet season! I’ve done the Barkk 12km walk around Nourlangie Rock which is also amazing scenery.
well done gang. I have some fond memories of that country from the ranger and yubulu uranium mines and how bad the roads were back in the day when we took the start-up freight in there. Our biggest hurdle was water buffs on the road at night because their skin colour wasnt very reflective in the lights but we made it through. I reckon i can sense an end to the adventure coming soon and i know ill miss you guys when that happens but I'm sure we will catch up on another adventure before too long. If you are ever heading to the qld gemfields, the Gladstone region or FNQ id love to maybe catch up for a cuppa and a chin wag. Stay safe, be well and happy until next time..
It would have been a wild place back in the day, very tame these days. But it's a incredible experience, very humbling. Yeah the qld border is not far away now, we can hear it calling
Another great episode! Cant wait till we get a chance to go there too. Ummm...just a word tho. I hate to sound like a negative nelly but drones are forbidden in Kakadu or I believe any of the NT national parks. Unless you have a permit, in accordance with management plan blah blah blah. So many places I would love to take my drone but the authorities in their infinite wisdom say "no". Bummer.
Gees Gary your right, I can look it up now I have service. I so strange, when in park we seen signs saying no drones at trin Falls or no drones at camp grounds, so we thought we could fly in other places, and we seen lots of people people flying. Why don't they have signs saying "No drones in park". We definitely don't like breaking the rules, and I'm so gutted with myself for not knowing.
@@GoingOverland Easy thing to miss. I'd say the vast majority of people don't know about the drone rules. I see people flying drones all the time in forbidden zones. It's only if you're in the industry that you become aware of how pervasive the no-go areas are. It's getting to the stage where it's only a slight exaggeration to say if it looks nice, you know you can't fly there. For instance I think pretty much all national parks are now off limits.
Hey mate how did you book a spot there? can you just book the day you want to stay at a spot or do you need to pre book it. Heading there next year but don't really know which spots I wanna stay at I was hoping you could just book a spot the day you wanna stay. Keep up the good work to awesome videos 👍
Thanks Dale, we have a little more info on this week's video. But NT I'd changing to pre booking camp sites! It's going to make travelling through the park really hard. I reckon you need at least 7-9 nights in the park depending on what's open, because it's such a big place you can't see it all from 1 camp ground.

Thanks for showing parts of Kakadu no one else shows, it was great
Thanks Jude, and more coming this week. It is such a special place I just couldn't get it into a single video
Stunning scenery Adam, great videography and drone work!
Thanks Clay, appreciate the support. It's a amazing place
So awesome that you will have all this footage to look back on ❤️ Kakadu looks awesome.
Thanks Vince, Kakadu is a incredible experience. Thanks for the support

Thanks Gary for the support 👍
Love u and your family. So down to earth and thanks for all the info.
Thanks for the support, we just want to show people a realistic lap of Australia. Have a great Christmas
@@GoingOverland we are currently doing a big lap with a budget too. My husband has to work part-time in order for us to do it.
Man Kakadu just blows me away, trying to get there myself...insane!!
It is so special, we are really humbled. You can really feel country and the connection to land.
Another great episode guys. That Galar you have holds the camera well when flying. Great training, excellent pet. The fishing line tangle would have broken your heart. Nothing worse. Great photography and background music. Cheers.
Thanks Ken, kind words 😉 really appreciate it (I am feeling a bit ordinary about it, but lesson learned).
@@GoingOverland It needs to be explained clearly to all travellers. No harm intended. Cheers.

Hi Guy's
Another great video in amazing country enjoy your great adventure. Can I ask what drone you have??
It's a dji mavic air. We got the kit with 3 batteries, carry case and it's fantastic. Small enough to take hiking and powerful enough in strong winds.

Great vid how much did it cost to see all the look outs in Kakadu i went
there in 1986 and it was free has it changed or is it the same ?
No it changed a lot. First up you need a permit to enter the park, then it's between $15-38 a night for a family in the national Park camps.
WhenI went to Sandy billabong the grasses were taller than the car.😂
Really, that would been annoying. It was perfect for us. 👍
Hey mate just wondering what software you use for editing and getting your music cheers
Filmora. One off payment and I can use it without internet connection
