I have to say: as someone who is born to a Japanese speaking mother, the amount of effort you took to pronounce the prefectures and other Japanese words shows and is really appreciated. Your respect and consideration towards the victims as well as the cultures of the places mentioned makes your meteoric rise so great to see.

Japan is a country where if you leave money in an ATM or in public someone will hand it in, or it will sit there waiting for your return... or a tourist will find and take it.
Some people would never understand why someone would drink a random drink left next to a vending machine in Japan, but here we simply trust each other (perhaps too much?). If I saw something like that, my first thought would be that someone left that drink as a kind gesture for someone else who needed a drink and could not afford it, especially if it’s summer because temperatures and humidity levels are extreme here. It's sad that events like this make us mistrust each other more and more. May their souls find rest.
@@tima2553 Based on what I've seen from this case, back then you couldn't differentiate between a completely unopened drink and one that has already been opened, because the lids weren't tamper-proof. Nowadays, most products, especially in places where events like this in the video have happened, come with tamper-proof lids or packages, so people can tell when something has already been opened. Unless someone is not paying enough attention to that detail, I don't think anyone would take a drink that has been opened already nowadays.
Guys stalk women in Japan, follow them to their homes and attack them as they enter the house. It’s not some paradise dude. Tons of crime happen in Japan every day. I felt more safe in New Orleans than I ever did in Tokyo and that’s saying ALOT
As an American living in Japan my American brain was immediately like "That's crazy" and then I realized how many times I've seen unmanned food stalls with little money boxes. Even parking areas that just have a cute little money box for people to put their cash into, trusting that people will do the right things. It's a totally different culture here.
I find that crazy how trusting Japanese culture is to just leave a money box and food and trust that people will pay for it. Watched a video of a gyoza store that you grab the food out the fridge and put money in the box. I live in a lower middle to middle class area in my city and just last week a guy pushing a paleta (ice cream bar) cart left it in front of my house to look for his wallet he dropped a few blocks away. Not even 3 minutes later people were trying to steal the cart and I had to guard it until he got back.
Rural areas in the US have these. You need homogeneous societies to develop high levels of communal trust. Diversity causes high levels of distrust, crime, poverty.

In the 1980s the US used to call the Japanese "lying thieves", which was actually being motivated by envy and desperation over Japan's economic growth (which lasted until the Plaza Accord). There are many American books and movies demonizing Japan and predicting a war, although the USA was already colonizing Japan at that time. Sounds similar?

As soon as I saw the thumbnail of a vending machine like that, I KNEW it was about my home country. No one would think twice to take a drink that was left, that’s just how we think. There’s not a lot of crime comparatively to other countries and it’s just part of who we are as a people to not be wasteful and to trust others. But when some crime happens in Japan, then it’s always some big or something horrific and unimaginable. Thank you Adrian and Zeus for this story! ❤🐈

@@SnowWhite717_ maybe in your immediate area, but crime in Japan is pretty rampant. I went with my fiancé before covid and the amount of stalkers is nightmarish. The signs on the public bus’ and trains telling people not to grope others also is a testament to how scary Japan can be. I’m not even sure how the woman in Japan can get from A to B without being abducted or attacked.
@@lawdadz4332 It's not that extreme and if you have been there you know it. In general it's quite a bit safer than almost anywhere else in the world, at least in Kansai and Okayama pref. which is where I have spent my time. Never saw any crime of any kind there, and I've traveled around a lot. It's not perfect, but to say crime is rampant is just ignorant of what rampant means and crime stats compared across countries. I may well be biased to see things more in a positive way than purely neutral, my ex wife is Japanese and my son is a dual citizenship holder, but I have spent a fair bit of time there surrounded by only Japanese people and culture etc.
@@noth606 I’ve been there and was there for a while. In my opinion it was pretty scary. Having people walk behind you for over an hour. Seeing guys filming my fiancé from park benches and then following us to get a better angle. Their was almost NO shame behind the actions of some of these people. I saw countless women being harassed and nobody would bat an eye. People were too afraid to intervene or even give information on how to get out of the situation. Felt all alone surrounded by thousands. And how is it ignorant? Because I noticed the signs telling people not to grope on others and noticed first hand how dangerous it can be? You’re ignorant for thinking everyone has the same experience. Good for you, you had a good time apparently. But it’s not the safest in the world because you had a great time. Everything I stated was due to personal experience. It’s not looked down on to creep on people or to try and scam people. This information came from my time being there. While I can say it was definitely not a bad time. I had countless moments where I noticed something strange or noticed I was about to be robbed or worse. Oh and to top it all off. You can’t get a policeman to help with anything! They all seem goofy and unbalanced. Saw a teenager outrun a cop who had fell on the ground and tripped over something. The teens laughed and ran away. It was funny for a second until I realized that’s the people they hire to protect to public.
That's the problem, I find his voice monotonous and hard to listen to for long periods (maybe it's his accent I dunno.) I much prefer Bill Curtis! Also he tends to go off on a tangent a lot. Nice crime stories though.
I normally don't like unsolved cases but you did a wonderful job of focusing on the case and not just casting speculation around. I also love it relates to a good tip of "always take care of yourselves".

I agree regarding unsolved cases. I mean, on one hand yes I want to hear about them, but for some reason, they are not as "psychologically satisfying." I guess I'm the type that doesn't like "loose ends" LOL.
A sprinkle of unsolved cases isn't a bad thing, it diversifies your content & helps bring more cases to your audience, possibly helping solve said cases.
Agreed, but it would be good if they were labelled as unsolved, in the title or state it at the start of the narrative. I hate that feeling of the build up just to find out no one knows. Can't delve into the psyche of the unknown lol.

I've been ill and bedridden for the past 3 weeks. I've been binging your videos these past few days and honestly its the only thing taking my mind off my aches and pains. Thank you, Adrian, for everything you do.
My theory is that killer is likely a delivery driver. Some of those places were far more rural back then so it could the killer was doing a delivery/pick up, saw the vending machine, left a tainted bottle, and went about his day. My original thought was a drink factory worker, but I think far more people would've gotten sick/died and it would've been found out if someone was spiking all the drinks before they left the building.
They came from all across the country. Its too early for Japan to have an UPS like service. He simply traveled. We know all these bottles were laid around the machines. If he worked at the factory why would the spiked drink not be inside the machine?
@@unboppable1702 could have been a red herring. If the tampered drink was made by an employee and placed inside the machine, it's far likelier that the police would have been able to track each poisoning, trace back the company services the machines and narrow down their suspects. By leaving it out, you obfuscate the trail and can even duplicate it at machines that weren't serviced by the individual. But I think regardless of the individual who did it, leaving it out was likely done because I'm sure it could've been placed really quickly as they walked past the scene maybe without even having to stop. In and out
Actually I still think it could have been a factory worker. They came from all over the country after all. If the person was a factory worker poisoning random drinks than the drink left behind could have been put there with good intentions, and that person wasn't the killer. For instance maybe the person who paid for the drink got two drinks and put the second one out there as a goodwill gesture. The drink they took with them wasn't poisoned because the factory worker was only tainting random bottles, and that person lucked out and made the right 50/50 choice. People are saying all these drinks were left out by the machine, but the video only indicated that happened in the first case. It didn't say this was the case for every other poisoning.
🤦♀️ when you said ‘I wasn’t alive yet!’ I remember both the Tylenol scare and this case. We stayed away from vending machines and Tylenol for a while. Actually, I haven’t taken Tylenol/acetaminophen since. I remember when ibuprofen went OTC and was thrilled! I feel old. Poor wee kitty! Get better soon!

@@onibabapapa2659 it wouldn't be practical at all. Alot of things can be dangerous if used the wrong way or if mixed with other substances that have normal uses. Heck you can make something dangerous even on accident if you aren't aware of what certain mixtures make
This was a good episode. It's good to revisit cold cases. I was born in USA 1981. My mother was a nurse so I've heard her talk about the Tylenol incident of '82 throughout my life. So scary.
Though Japan is a very safe place the crime stories I have heard from this country are crazy. Also, your cat's fur color is so pretty, hope he gets better.
I like that you didn't end the video by saying "and the killer was never found", but said it more in the middle and then explained more about the detective process.
I once got a Sprite from the local store and it kept dribbling when I took sips from the plastic bottle. Turns out it had a needle hole in it. I was quite young and simply returned the bottle for a new one instead of giving it to authorities. I felt a little weird but I have no idea if it was something in the drink or my mind running with the scenario. I had only drank a couple sips. I’ve always wondered what it was. If I had the bottle turned around the other way who knows what could have happened. I shiver when I think of it every time.
Despite this horrible thing, I really respect the Japanese level of trust of each other, knowing that everyone just wants to live a pleasant happy life
I think they're pretty awesome culture, I married one. Women aren't treated so good, but everything else, pretty awesome. Fried grits won my father in law over. He'd refused to look or talk to me. I'm not Japanese. But he loved my fried cheese grits. And they don't mind if you burb. It's like saying good food to them.

This has become my favourite crimes channel. The way you set the scene of the area, the day of events, the depth of investigation, the respect to the victims...I could go on.
This case shocked me a lot the first time I heard about it. Because I could totally see myself falling for it. There was a vending machine in my school that sometimes dropped two drinks. I never thought twice about it.
Man I am so paranoid about stuff like this that I always check my drinks haven't been opened when I buy them, it seems like a stupid thing to worry about and then I hear this and feel a little bit better about it
I've drank things that had already gone bad, often because the seal was not properly secured, so many times that it's given me the same fear. I always make sure the safety seals are intact and untampered with. Also growing up with a dad who chewed Copenhagen and used soda cans to spit into and an alcoholic mom that would spike all of her own drinks, I absolutely never drink things that I know 100% haven't been touched by anyone. If I put a soda or cold coffee cup down, I will not pick it back up.
I agree I remember I think in the UK people were putting poison etc into jars in supermarkets and they had to have something to protect the jars. We have to be alert for nasty people all the time

I’ve been to Japan 6 times, and 1 time, I made it a fun goal to only buy food and drink from vending machines. It was lots of fun. Would totally do it again. You’d be surprised the amazing food you can get from these things!

I personally don’t like unresolved cases. It’s like a book with no ending. Like someone telling a story and leaving before finishing it. Finding out who did it is one of the most interesting parts of the story. Love your work.
I don't mind that it's unresolved if the murderer stopped his/her ways. But, off course, in an actual movie, I hate when the ending isn't really one that terminates such as how some series seasons end, and then you would have to wait for another year for a possible continuation of the story.

@@leighkaiser7298 look up Stella Nickell. She lived in Seattle in the mid 80s, and poisoned her husband to get rid of him/get his life insurance. When it was deemed he died of natural causes (the assumption was heart issues, I think) she put cyanide in Excedrin bottles, and left them on store shelves, which resulted in her poisoning complete stranger, Sue Snow, in order to bring LE's attention to the deaths as tampering murders. She was caught when she made the mistake of giving LE all the bottles of medicine from her house that had been purchased in recent months, including the Excedrin bottle from which her husband supposedly took the poisoned capsules... AND (against all odds!) a SECOND bottle of Excedrin that had been tampered with, but had been purchased from a completely DIFFERENT store. Whoopsie! 🙄 Thank God for many criminals being dumb, or at least for them thinking they're smarter than everyone else... otherwise, as with the Chicago cases, we likely wouldn't know the perpetrator of these crimes, either.

@@lonick1692 I've had four cats and none of them like to go to the vets. However, my last one loved to have his belly rubbed. He would lay there for hours and let me rub his belly. My other cat finally figured out hey this isn't as bad as it looks and so she would flop down and show me her belly and let me rub her belly and I know she did it cuz she was Big Time jealous of the other cat. All they're separate little personalities are so sweet and just make them the best. I wish I could have another cat but I'm severely allergic and after 35 years of having four cats my doctor says please stop doing this to yourself. But if one turned up at my door I wouldn't shoo it away.
HELLO ADRIAN! I really hope this reaches you (somehow) but im sure this will get drowned out in the comments lol. Could you look into the case of "Seath Jackson" in the city of Ocala, Florida? It was a BRUTAL story of a young high schooler involving 6 people plotting his death. A very sad story in my hometown that left us devastated. Something that may be up your alley! but anyway, love the videos and the support you've gotten! It's well deserved! (P.S. maybe we can upvote this so he gets a chance to see it?!)
I was 13 years old when this happened and I also remember the Tylenol situation in Chicago here in the states we Believe in the Chicago situation there was more of a conspiracy but when we heard about this happening in Japan we were thinking it was a copycat but it was an actual person in Japan doing this I feel for the families that lost their loved ones and yes be very vigilant when it comes to your drink I never leave my drink sitting by itself it goes where I go especially if I go out I watch them make my drink you have to protect yourself because you never know what people might do
Why would you think the Tylenol situation was a conspiracy? I'm in Australia but remember that particular case being reported here. Many years later I came across a theory held by some investigators regarding the Tylenol murders. The theory was something along the lines of only one of the victims was the main target but the others were killed to make it look random. America had another case a couple of years later that was similar but the perp was caught in that one.

I live in the UK here are my thoughts. 1. Leaving a stall/shop unmanned = It would get robbed 100% 2. Finding a can/bottle of drink on top of a vending machine = No one ever in the UK would drink it regardless how thirsty they were, because you would know that someone had done something to it.

Its a scary world with lots of evil, disturbed people. I am starting to get so paranoid. I remember growing up never had to worry about bad people. But now they seem to be everywhere. I hope Nero is okay and he's feeling better fast! I'm glad I didn't know about this vending machine unsolved murder mystery in the 1980s. I spent 7 weeks in Tokyo in 1987 and had my first canned coffee from a vending machine there. This was way before Starbucks or any American company had ever thought about putting brewed and prepared coffee into a closed container for sale. And if I'd known about the vending machine murders I probably would have refrained from buying anything from the vending machines, that are literally all over the place. This definitely does have a ring of the Tylenol murders. Both unsolved, both random victims. And every product meant for consumption has been forever changed with regard to packaging due to these crimes. Thankfully this type of thing would be very difficult for someone to pull off today.

If I remember correctly, the Tylenol murders were done by a guy who killed his wife by poisoning her and tried to make it look like someone else did it by poisoning a bunch of random Tylenol bottles.

People should not be tipped at work to be able to pay their bills. Employers should provide a living wage, and not depend on tips from customers to pay their wages. It's so ridiculous in the US.

In México, there's a case where a whole batch of 7UP soda poisoned a couple people because it contained cocaine concentrate. This was drug cartel related not a murder to my knowledge.

Yesterday my brother suddenly died. I'm saying this as two months ago I found out he also frequently watched this channel and we would talk about it and how Adrian was great at how he presents the cases. My brother has been suffering with his health for a long time but it's still a shock.

When my pre-caffeinated brain first read the title, I immediately thought about the statistic of vending machines killing more people per year than sharks. Hey Adrian, I've watched your videos for a long time but recently something terrible happened in my home state of Idaho (USA). Just a couple days ago, 4 University of Idaho students were reported dead from an "edged weapon". There were 2 other roommates in the house at the time of the murders, but police haven't released any info so far about them. I would really love it if you would be able to create a video on the 4 victims, as they all had such a long life ahead of them. Things like this also usually never happen in Idaho, so everyone is shocked... I would love to help you find information if needed! 2 of the victims' last known whereabouts have already been released to the public because of a food truck's cctv. @@m1586 originally police came out and said they believed it to be a targeted attack, but then they said it could've been a burglary gone wrong. On Monday(?) the police came out and said there's no real threat to the public, but then they changed their statement on Wednesday(?) night I believe. Hopefully they get the suspect(s) in custody soon. Stay safe down under!

I was stationed in Yokosuka, Japan while in the Navy from 90-94. I married a Japanese woman whose father was Yakuza. There are strict rules in that organization so from experience it looks like one person and not a bunch of people. I can go into more detail if asked. Roppongi, Tokyo was so much fun.

I think it may have been an employee of the drink company, and the reason he/she may have stopped is because the person stopped working for the company, thus stopping the person having access to the drink before it goes into the machine.

I love that you are covering cases from over the world. Some of these I have never heard of at all so its good that they are being remembered. Edit: You finish with the Tylenol poisonings which is the main one I know with this kind of random poisoning. I think that is why its good to cover cases like this that are less known in the Western world. These people who died deserve to be remembered too. Its a shame the killer was never caught, that is always a frustration, but a least we can remember the poor people who lost their lives to this.

Some people would never understand why someone would drink a random drink left next to a vending machine in Japan, but here we simply trust each other (perhaps too much?). If I saw something like that, my first thought would be that someone left that drink as a kind gesture for someone else who needed a drink and could not afford it, especially if it’s summer because temperatures and humidity levels are extreme here. It's sad that events like this make us mistrust each other more and more.

@@tima2553 Based on what I've seen from this case, back then you couldn't differentiate between a completely unopened drink and one that has already been opened, because the lids weren't tamper-proof. Nowadays, most products, especially in places where events like this in the video have happened, come with tamper-proof lids or packages, so people can tell when something has already been opened. Unless someone is not paying enough attention to that detail, I don't think anyone would take a drink that has been opened already nowadays.
It is a bit like us leaving the doors open in a house, the more we know about people, the less we trust them.

As an American living in Japan my American brain was immediately like "That's crazy" and then I realized how many times I've seen unmanned food stalls with little money boxes. Even parking areas that just have a cute little money box for people to put their cash into, trusting that people will do the right things. It's a totally different culture here.
I find that crazy how trusting Japanese culture is to just leave a money box and food and trust that people will pay for it. Watched a video of a gyoza store that you grab the food out the fridge and put money in the box. I live in a lower middle to middle class area in my city and just last week a guy pushing a paleta (ice cream bar) cart left it in front of my house to look for his wallet he dropped a few blocks away. Not even 3 minutes later people were trying to steal the cart and I had to guard it until he got back.
Rural areas in the US have these. You need homogeneous societies to develop high levels of communal trust. Diversity causes high levels of distrust, crime, poverty.

In the 1980s the US used to call the Japanese "lying thieves", which was actually being motivated by envy and desperation over Japan's economic growth (which lasted until the Plaza Accord). There are many American books and movies demonizing Japan and predicting a war, although the USA was already colonizing Japan at that time.

There’s not a lot of crime comparatively to other countries and it’s just part of who we are as a people to not be wasteful and to trust others. The signs on the public bus’ and trains telling people not to grope others also is a testament to how scary Japan can be. In general it's quite a bit safer than almost anywhere else in the world, at least in Kansai and Okayama pref. which is where I have spent my time. Never saw any crime of any kind there, and I've traveled around a lot. It's not perfect, but to say crime is rampant is just ignorant of what rampant means and crime stats compared across countries. I may well be biased to see things more in a positive way than purely neutral, my ex wife is Japanese and my son is a dual citizenship holder, but I have spent a fair bit of time there surrounded by only Japanese people and culture etc.
@@noth606 I’ve been there and was there for a while. In my opinion it was pretty scary. Having people walk behind you for over an hour. Seeing guys filming my fiancé from park benches and then following us to get a better angle. Their was almost NO shame behind the actions of some of these people. I saw countless women being harassed and nobody would bat an eye. People were too afraid to intervene or even give information on how to get out of the situation. Felt all alone surrounded by thousands. And how is it ignorant? Because I noticed the signs telling people not to grope on others and noticed first hand how dangerous it can be? You’re ignorant for thinking everyone has the same experience. Good for you, you had a good time apparently. But it’s not the safest in the world because you had a great time. Everything I stated was due to personal experience. It’s not looked down on to creep on people or to try and scam people. This information came from my time being there. While I can say it was definitely not a bad time. I had countless moments where I noticed something strange or noticed I was about to be robbed or worse. Oh and to top it all off. You can’t get a policeman to help with anything! They all seem goofy and unbalanced. Saw a teenager outrun a cop who had fell on the ground and tripped over something. The teens laughed and ran away. It was funny for a second until I realized that’s the people they hire to protect to public.

My theory is that killer is likely a delivery driver. Some of those places were far more rural back then so it could the killer was doing a delivery/pick up, saw the vending machine, left a tainted bottle, and went about his day. My original thought was a drink factory worker, but I think far more people would've gotten sick/died and it would've been found out if someone was spiking all the drinks before they left the building.
They came from all across the country. Its too early for Japan to have an UPS like service. He simply traveled. We know all these bottles were laid around the machines. If he worked at the factory why would the spiked drink not be inside the machine?

If the tampered drink was made by an employee and placed inside the machine, it's far likelier that the police would have been able to track each poisoning, trace back the company services the machines and narrow down their suspects. By leaving it out, you obfuscate the trail and can even duplicate it at machines that weren't serviced by the individual.
But I think regardless of the individual who did it, leaving it out was likely done because I'm sure it could've been placed really quickly as they walked past the scene maybe without even having to stop. In and out
Actually I still think it could have been a factory worker. They came from all over the country after all. If the person was a factory worker poisoning random drinks than the drink left behind could have been put there with good intentions, and that person wasn't the killer. For instance maybe the person who paid for the drink got two drinks and put the second one out there as a goodwill gesture. The drink they took with them wasn't poisoned because the factory worker was only tainting random bottles, and that person lucked out and made the right 50/50 choice.
People are saying all these drinks were left out by the machine, but the video only indicated that happened in the first case. It didn't say this was the case for every other poisoning.

I once got a Sprite from the local store and it kept dribbling when I took sips from the plastic bottle. Turns out it had a needle hole in it. I was quite young and simply returned the bottle for a new one instead of giving it to authorities. I felt a little weird but I have no idea if it was something in the drink or my mind running with the scenario. I had only drank a couple sips. I’ve always wondered what it was. If I had the bottle turned around the other way who knows what could have happened. I shiver when I think of it every time.

I've drank things that had already gone bad, often because the seal was not properly secured, so many times that it's given me the same fear. I always make sure the safety seals are intact and untampered with. Also growing up with a dad who chewed Copenhagen and used soda cans to spit into and an alcoholic mom that would spike all of her own drinks, I absolutely never drink things that I know 100% haven't been touched by anyone. If I put a soda or cold coffee cup down, I will not pick it back up.

When it was deemed he died of natural causes (the assumption was heart issues, I think) she put cyanide in Excedrin bottles, and left them on store shelves, which resulted in her poisoning complete stranger, Sue Snow, in order to bring LE's attention to the deaths as tampering murders. She was caught when she made the mistake of giving LE all the bottles of medicine from her house that had been purchased in recent months, including the Excedrin bottle from which her husband supposedly took the poisoned capsules... AND (against all odds!) a SECOND bottle of Excedrin that had been tampered with, but had been purchased from a completely DIFFERENT store.
Whoopsie! 🙄 Thank God for many criminals being dumb, or at least for them thinking they're smarter than everyone else... otherwise, as with the Chicago cases, we likely wouldn't know the perpetrator of these crimes, either.

My other cat finally figured out hey this isn't as bad as it looks and so she would flop down and show me her belly and let me rub her belly and I know she did it cuz she was Big Time jealous of the other cat. All they're separate little personalities are so sweet and just make them the best. I wish I could have another cat but I'm severely allergic and after 35 years of having four cats my doctor says please stop doing this to yourself. But if one turned up at my door I wouldn't shoo it away.

It was a BRUTAL story of a young high schooler involving 6 people plotting his death. A very sad story in my hometown that left us devastated. Something that may be up your alley!

I was 13 years old when this happened and I also remember the Tylenol situation in Chicago here in the states we Believe in the Chicago situation there was more of a conspiracy but when we heard about this happening in Japan we were thinking it was a copycat but it was an actual person in Japan doing this I feel for the families that lost their loved ones and yes be very vigilant when it comes to your drink I never leave my drink sitting by itself it goes where I go especially if I go out I watch them make my drink you have to protect yourself because you never know what people might do

Why would you think the Tylenol situation was a conspiracy? I'm in Australia but remember that particular case being reported here. Many years later I came across a theory held by some investigators regarding the Tylenol murders. The theory was something along the lines of only one of the victims was the main target but the others were killed to make it look random. America had another case a couple of years later that was similar but the perp was caught in that one.

I was vaguely aware of this, so thank you so much for going all through the details as they happened in sequence.
I live in the UK here are my thoughts.
1. Leaving a stall/shop unmanned = It would get robbed 100%
2. Finding a can/bottle of drink on top of a vending machine = No one ever in the UK would drink it regardless how thirsty they were, because you would know that someone had done something to it.
Usually I don't enjoy watching unsolved cases since there's a lack of justice but I thoroughly enjoyed this video!

Its a scary world with lots of evil, disturbed people. I am starting to get so paranoid. I remember growing up never had to worry about bad people. But now they seem to be everywhere. The more I appreciate the kind people in my life, and the kind people I meet along the way.

I hope Nero is okay and he's feeling better fast! I'm glad I didn't know about this vending machine unsolved murder mystery in the 1980s. I spent 7 weeks in Tokyo in 1987 and had my first canned coffee from a vending machine there. This was way before Starbucks or any American company had ever thought about putting brewed and prepared coffee into a closed container for sale. And if I'd known about the vending machine murders I probably would have refrained from buying anything from the vending machines, that are literally all over the place. This definitely does have a ring of the Tylenol murders. Both unsolved, both random victims. And every product meant for consumption has been forever changed with regard to packaging due to these crimes. Thankfully this type of thing would be very difficult for someone to pull off today.

I personally believe that we will never know due to the fact that DNA analysis wasn't available, the fact that it was so widespread and the fact that there were so many people mimicking the crimes being carried out. If I remember correctly, the Tylenol murders were done by a guy who killed his wife by poisoning her and tried to make it look like someone else did it by poisoning a bunch of random Tylenol bottles.

When you mentioned keeping an eye on the person making your coffee, it made me think about: The baristas at Starbucks are on strike today, calling for unionization. So, be kind to your barista! Tip them well and have patience and compassion!
People should not be tipped at work to be able to pay their bills. Employers should provide a living wage, and not depend on tips from customers to pay their wages. It's so ridiculous in the US.

In México, there's a case where a whole batch of 7UP soda poisoned a couple people because it contained cocaine concentrate. This was drug cartel related not a murder to my knowledge.

Yesterday my brother suddenly died. I'm saying this as two months ago I found out he also frequently watched this channel and we would talk about it and how Adrian was great at how he presents the cases. My brother has been suffering with his health for a long time but it's still a shock.

Hey Adrian, I've watched your videos for a long time but recently something terrible happened in my home state of Idaho (USA). Just a couple days ago, 4 University of Idaho students were reported dead from an "edged weapon". There were 2 other roommates in the house at the time of the murders, but police haven't released any info so far about them. I would really love it if you would be able to create a video on the 4 victims, as they all had such a long life ahead of them. Things like this also usually never happen in Idaho, so everyone is shocked... I would love to help you find information if needed! 2 of the victims' last known whereabouts have already been released to the public because of a food truck's cctv. Anyways, thank you for all that you do in honouring the victims and sharing more about their lives than their deaths. Stay safe and healthy!

@@m1586 originally police came out and said they believed it to be a targeted attack, but then they said it could've been a burglary gone wrong. On Monday(?) the police came out and said there's no real threat to the public, but then they changed their statement on Wednesday(?) night I believe. Hopefully they get the suspect(s) in custody soon. Stay safe down under!

I was stationed in Yokosuka, Japan while in the Navy from 90-94. I married a Japanese woman whose father was Yakuza. There are strict rules in that organization so from experience it looks like one person and not a bunch of people. I can go into more detail if asked. Roppongi, Tokyo was so much fun.

Genuinely hope you get good news at the vet. Hate seeing a sick kitty. Mine was diagnosed with large cell lymphoma recently and she doesn't have much time left. Give yours a hug and some extra treats, make the most of your time together.
It's both sad and interesting how one bad person who wants to hurt someone can then indirectly influence more bad people who want to cause harm. A terrible ripple effect.

I think it may have been an employee of the drink company, and the reason he/she may have stopped is because the person stopped working for the company, thus stopping the person having access to the drink before it goes into the machine.

Edit: You finish with the Tylenol poisonings which is the main one I know with this kind of random poisoning. I think that is why its good to cover cases like this that are less known in the Western world. These people who died deserve to be remembered too. Its a shame the killer was never caught, that is always a frustration, but a least we can remember the poor people who lost their lives to this.
