When we realized that the ponds needed to be addressed for erosion damage control, first thing we decided to do, and the easiest and most cost-effective was create a low maintenance zone; we also call it a No Mow Zone. And eliminating heavy mowing machinery from mowing to the edge and damaging the banks. The easiest thing we could do was to have the grasses grown a little bit and begin to have their deeper roots help stabilize the soils. That's the first approach that we had. The next thing is to get the neighbors to understand a little bit about what we're doing, why we were doing it and what it would look like. We created a pilot pond. This is one of them here and encouraged other neighbors to create their own. Low maintenance zones around their ponds to get a sense of what it would look like, how it would work. And since then, we've obviously come a long way.
