As each year passes I wonder what shall I do for a Lil Wally Tribute for his dearly beloved fans on youtube! This year I have chosen a theme of 1959 and an old live radio broadcast from Club 505 Chicago Il. In November 28, 2012 we lost Lil Wally's beloved wife Jeanette and in December 20, 2012, we lost Lil Wallys accordion player Joe Swarcz!! This tribute is also dedicate to their memory as well!! I am sure they all are singing glorious music in heaven above!!
1959 Remember when....... Gallon of gas .25 cents, loaf of bread .20 cents, movie camera $67.50, average house $2,400, Alaska and Hawaii becomes the 50th state of the US, Dwight D. Eisenhower was President of the US, Bonanza and Twilight Zone premiered on tv, pantyhose was invented by Glen Raven Mills, popular singers were Doris Day, Frank Sinatra, Jim Reeves, connie Francis, Ella Fitzgerald.
I was 10 years old and can still see mom peeling potatoes at the kitchen table and her face lights up, with twinkle in her eyes and big cheezy smile crease across her cheeks from ear to ear as Lil Wally would come on the radio!! If you were born after 1959, close your eyes, pretend its 1959, sit back and enjoy the music as...
Lil Wally and the Lucky Harmony Boys plays at Club 505 Chicago Il to a packed house.
    Hope you enjoy the music.
Club 505 is Polka Hotspot of the 50's, 60's! Lil Wally even recorded a song Club 505 Polka! More information and pictures can be read in the link below! You will even see Lil Wallys photo hanging on the wall among other polka stars! Special note: You can hear Marion Lush, who was just starting out, talk prior to the last song on the tape. He was promoting his records.

Wonderful wonderful memories come flooding back just listening to this program . My dad’s favorite was Lil’ Wally , he was originally from Hegewisch IL . He & mom went often to Club 505 . I recently found an original Lil’ Wally album & had it framed to remember my dad by. My mom was from East Chicago IN (Paul Rich Orchestra) was our local Polka Band )
My Busia did not own a tv , but her radio dial was set on WJOB for Polka Music on Sundays. Many many years ago but seems like yesterday when I now dial in WJOB on Sundays for the Polka Hour. I cry because I miss them all so much and the years with them too short . But they instilled in me the love for our Polish music and heritage ( even though they never taught me the Polish language!)
Thanks for this trip back in time

This sure brings back happy memories. The Lil Wally sound is what got me started playing polka music under the name of the Polish Brass and we also had the pleasure of being his back-up band several times when playing in Minnesota in the 60's. I think I have owned just about every song he ever recorded on Jay Jay records. My brother also purchased Wally's drum set from him and played on them for many years. Thanks so very much for posting these great songs that are now polka classics. The Best!
