This is my favorite song from a score full of amazing songs. This has been my last resort pick-me-up song for over a decade (in all its saddness and struggle, there's something uplifting to me about it, especially the short interlude (which they cut out here but oh well)). Jamie Parker was absolutely astonishing in this scene, out of the productions of the show, the direction in this production is by far the the best and Jamie Parker just has my full entire heart as Dan.

They are releasing a song every two weeks. Does that mean a cast album?
No. This was the last song they have. They recorded all of these in a two day stretch when the cast got together the week of the Olivier's back in April. No cast recording is coming, unfortunately.
@@mck-od9jf Respectfully, how do you "know" this? Why would they bring the whole cast of six together *to a recording studio* for just an interview one day and then the next day have only four them record songs in that same studio? It would seem to me that we'd at least still get a video for Light.

How Jamie didn't get the Olivier award for this, didn't even get a nomonation for this, blows my mind. One of the most moving, emotional, heartfelt performances I have ever seen on the stage.

Whenever Dan cry I cry... I'm not a huge cryer but I don't know his plotline just got me. And Jamie Parker is such an amazing actor. His emotion goes so deep in every performance. So incredible. This whole cast is amazing. Please please make a cast recording!!
His emotional performance as Dan always gets me, he's superb. I've seen the show 8 times at this point (hoping to be able to come back for more) and during some of those viewings I manage to hold back the tears UNTIL Dan finally speaks his son's name. That moment always breaks me.
I had such a similar experience! No way to not break down when Dan breaks down, it's like a gut punch.
Omg that moment absolutely broke me!!! It was so hard not to start straight up sobbing! His performance is so so emotional!
@@janekarna6814- the part where he silently slides down the kitchen counter and breaks down… I was crying on and off throughout the performance when I caught it a few weeks ago now. Such a great cast.

I love Next to Normal. I've loved it since the original broadway cast. Trying to tell any stories about mental health is hard to get right, close, and/or even relatable. I've always appreciated that this show doesn't try too hard at any of this and just tells the story. And the reality is that there's usually no good, bad, or happy ending. Life is just life, and some people just have to work a little harder at it. With all of that said, I really like this production's interpretation, and I would play the shit out of a cast album from them 🖤

Oh, as someone who’s struggled with countless mental health diagnoses and my husband has been my indisputable rock, I’ve always loved this musical. And this song gives yet another dimension to it. I’m finally off meds, third month after 7-8 years of being medicated and am somewhere between coping and thriving and I’m hoping to see this on the West End live next year. Fingers crossed.
unfortunately this show closes on the west end on the 21st September 2024 :( it should be transferring to Broadway though

While this run *is* limited, there's a chance the show will have another run at West End (at another theater) after this one ends. Just like how the run at the Donmar led to the current run at Wyndham's. I think the current run is proving financially successful enough for another one.
I doubt that if the show transfers to Broadway, the UK cast will transfer with it, as that is very rare, leaving them possibly available for another West End run.
Another run would explain why they are holding out on a cast album and why Jack said in an interview recently that he doesn't think he's "done with Gabe quite yet".
