    Great video. Can you do one that teaches more about the lines? More so about the riser area and attachment points. Ive ordered my Kite, (1.4m) now i need to find the material for the body. What size servos are you using?Thank you.

    This is great, i already have the kite, so i am starting builiding this model ! would you please describe how did you make the orange suit for the jumper? did you sew it?, can you share due and suit templates?. sorry for so many questions but this is great! seems afordable against all comercial options out there with ridiculuous prices.

    • @grabenstein1173
      @grabenstein1173  7 років тому +2

      No problem. Sorry i've no templates. I've taken a reflective vest (you can use whatever you want) fixed with glue at the back and between the legs. Quasi how you to wrap up a packet. For the sleeves you need a tube wide enough over the arm also fixed with glue around the shoulder front side because at the back is the servo arm which needs free movement. No sewing. Good luck

    Great design you have created and it looks like it works great. I had a couple of questions, what kind of foam are you using? what density is it? It looks like about it is about 1.5" or about 38 to 40 mm thick? How did you attach the new lines to the kite (chute) the original lines are attached by a sewn in loop. Thanks very much, Don

    • @grabenstein1173
      @grabenstein1173  9 років тому +1

      Thanks. I used moderate and medium strength Polyurethan foam boards aivailable in 50x50x3cm. The thickness belongs to the servoheight but they're easy to glue or cut it into your desired dimensions. This material is also easy to mill or grind with a dremel. I attached the new lines direct to the kite with a sewing needle and a knot secured with superglue. Good luck

    Grabenstein, excellent work, pal!
    How do you decide the size of the parachute? And what is the total weight of the skydiver sans the chute?
    I too want to make a remote controlled parachute but my payload is going to be somewhere between 1.5 - 2.0 kg.
    Thanks a lot for the amazing video, man!
    Regards,
    Ash!sh.

      Thanks a lot. I think with 2kg you can use a ~1,7m kite. If the weight is to less, the flight properties are not good. In any case you have to experiment a little bit like I did. I bought my kite in a toy shop. Good luck.

    Auch von mir ein Lob für diese super Idee wenn man bedenkt, dass der einzige Hersteller von RC-Fallschirmspringer 700 Euro für ein flugfertiges Komplettset verlangt! Einfach nur genial diese günstige und einfach Lösung!
    Nur die Frage nach den einzelnen Leinenlängen blieben unbeantwortet!
    Wenn Sie vl. angeben könnten wo unterhalb des Fallschirms ca. die Puppe hängen soll, gemessen von der Vorderkante und wie der Anstellwinkel des Fallschirmes ca. sein soll dann würden sich die Leinenlängen von selbst ergeben, egal welchen Kite man sich kauft.
    Bitte um diese Angabe falls möglich!
    Danke!

    grabenstein, wo hast du das mechanismus für die öffnung des Fallschirm gekauft? welches servo hast du benutzt? eine antwort wär sehr nett.

    • @grabenstein1173
      @grabenstein1173  8 років тому

      Hallo, das Öffnungs-Servo ist ein einfaches Mini-Servo woran ich die Schnur zur Öffnung des Schirmes nur am Servo Horn direkt eingehängt habe. Wenn die Schnur freigegeben wird kann das Gummiband den Splint vom Rucksack rausziehen. Das ist im Prinzip alles. Außer Schnur, Gummiband, 3 Stk. Splinte und Servo für den Öffnungsmechanismus nix gekauft. Hoff ich konnte helfen.

    So all your A lines are the same length? My chute has 6 lines with 3 connections on each. And a 3 line to 1 on each side on back for steering. I can't seem to get it to open. I have shared connection point in the middle for right and left lines. My chute is flat when lines are even and brought to center but when lifted it doesn't lay like it should. Can you help

    • @grabenstein1173
      @grabenstein1173  5 років тому

      Sorry, I don't realy understand your problem, but you can test your chute outside starting by your hand against the wind how it looks like when it opens for a little moment and then maybe shorten some lines by instinct. I hope you understand and it helps

    • @garyhale5645
      @garyhale5645 5 років тому

      @@grabenstein1173 I think so. I have a rectangle chute and have 3 lines coming off each row of loops. There are 5 sets of lines and 2 steering lines that connect to the trailing edge in 3 spots. Steering lines are out on the far trailing edge

    • @grabenstein1173
      @grabenstein1173  5 років тому +1

      Ah, okay. All 6 Lines should be equal but the lines at the leading edge are shorter and the lines at the trailing edge are longer to create an angle of incidence wich depents on your chute. So you have to try different angles of incidence with testflights for best flightproperties and good steering control

    • @grabenstein1173

      We bought they in a toyshop. The smaller one had original 1,5m downsized to 1,2m and the bigger one from 2m to 1,5m wingspan. I've seen the same 2m kite on Amazon ~15€, but i think you can use what you like or what you can get.

    • @grabenstein1173
      @grabenstein1173  9 років тому

      Grabenstein Sorry, correction. The smaler one has original 1,2m wingspan similar the knoop kite 2762s.

    What size servos did you use?

    • @grabenstein1173
      @grabenstein1173  9 років тому +1

      I've installed Graupner C5077 (38x19x37cm) because I had them already and they still work, but if I had to buy them I'd choose servos with metal gear

      +Grabenstein How important would you say it is to shorten the chute? I have a kite like that and rather not shorten it if I didn't have to.

    • @grabenstein1173
      @grabenstein1173  9 років тому +1

      A big kite requires a lot of weight for good flight properties and a heavy skydiver requires a huge powerfull tow-plane. My limit was 1,5 kg weight for the skydiver that results a wingspan from the kite of 1,5m. So the only solution was to shorten the wingspan from the 2m kite to obtain this weight. Resumed a kite flies one way or another it depends on your limits.

    Erstmal danke für die likes. Die vordersten Leinen (a Leinen)sind alle gleich lang mit 90cm, dahinter die b Leinen ebenfalls alle gleich lang mit 95cm und die c Leinen mit 103cm welches einen Einstellwinkel von ca.25° ergibt. Die Puppe hängt 4 cm weiter darunter. Die Steuerleinen sind im Geradeausflug gleich lang wie die c Leinen d.h. der Schirm ist immer angebremst. Diese Einstellung hat sich beim kleinen Schirm gut bewährt. Der größere Schirm fliegt mit 7° Einstellwinkel ebenfalls immer angebremst ganz gut. Das Anbremsen des Schirmes wirkt sich direkt auf das Steuer und Flugverhalten d.h. sollte dieses nicht zufriedenstellend sein zuerst die Neutralstellung der Steuerleinen verändern (Anbremsung des Schirmes). Führt dies nicht zum gewünschtem Erfolg, erst dann den Einstellwinkel verändern und weitere Testflüge absolvieren. Mit dem Gewicht der Puppe kann man ebenfalls experimentieren. Der große Schirm benötigt auch eine Umlenkung der Steuerleine (Leine über eine Öse an der Hand danach weiter auf der Schulter fixiert) um deren Weg zu vergrößern und ordentlich zu kurven.Viel Erfolg beim nachbauen.
