If you have round cheese---- just cut in half and you now have "almost" 2 oval shape piece of cheese .Thank you Chef John for the happy hours I spent learning to expand my family's taste buds . GOD BLESS
Just for information... "...Quiche actually originates in Lothringen, a medieval kingdom under German rule, that was later taken over by France and renamed Lorraine . The French later enhanced the dish and renamed it, Lorraine. The original recipe for Quiche Lorraine consisted of an open pie with a filling comprised of egg, cream custard, and bacon. It was only later that cheese was added." - Atelier Monnier Hotel, France The bottom crust of the quiche was originally made from bread dough. Quiche didn't reach the U.S. until the 1950s. Quiche Lorraine with onions is actually called quiche Alsacienne
Good to know! My mom's French side of the family was was from that region. It's been decades since I've made Quiche Lorraine. The ready made frozen crust was OK, but they were so shallow, there was enough filling for two quiche. I'd used just lightly caramelized leeks & red onion, thoroughly cooked bacon, & grated Swiss cheese with a dash of nutmeg & chopped flat leaf Parsley mixed into the egg, whole milk & cream batter. Because I wanted to make my own crust next time, I haven't made it since the 70s. Too bad. I loved these flavors together. Will do again, soon. ⚘
I haven’t watched you for a while. Figured I’d search the channel and give you some views. You are responsible for the best prime rib I ever cooked for my family. Have a great day sir.
OMG, you could have stopped at the Quiche! My mouth is watering! Some of us with egg intolerance can only eat eggs if the yolks are completely dry. It may offend the sensibilities of the purists, but it’s the only way I’m able to enjoy eggs.
That is so right. Make Mom a beautiful, tasty, quiche. Make yourself a beautiful New York steak with eggs and hash brown potatoes, sour dough toast and strawberry jam. Your mom will be so happy.
It's so refreshing to see someone cooking with lots of butter and none of that keto/vegan diet. He also doesn't show his face, which makes me think his personality is shy like mine. A lot of those UA-camrs out there are young, fit and beautiful, but real regular people are not so photogenic and comfortable in front of cameras like these Instagram obssessed milleneals raised with the Kardashians.
That is lovely, and I know you enjoy doing this for her. To receive such a gift is equally generous. Honestly I would have difficulty being so pampered. Cheers to you both good sir.
I always enjoy your methodology and recipes. It's funny, I accidentally made the lemony pancakes. Sorry to tell you, but I use Bisquick and I thought, lemon extract, that might be interesting. It was awesome with maple syrup. But I want to try this version with ricotta
Dear John, Ricotta which translated means reboild is already a low fat cheese made from the remainig milk previousy used to make cheese 😉 thus why reboild
You mentioned that these dishes are excellent to surprise moms, but they make me think of Christmas for some reason. Maybe it's your voice or the music used in the video.
I love these pancakes so much! I'm not a huge fan of maple so I used about some thickened mascerated strawberries, and could resist...I pulled out the reddiwhip.
I've never heard anyone talk about the pronunciation of Syrup... I say it like you, 1 syllable! My mom says "Why do you say it like that?" I never knew I said it different Mom 😭
Dear John, you said not to buy your eggs from the same place where you buy your motor oil(?). Where I live there is a mom and pop service station where they have milk, bread, vegies in season and fresh farm eggs delivered every morning.
Some nice recipe ideas but why do all the SAVOURY dishes have sugar in them? Would willingly make many of them - already do but under different names - but without all that killer sugar which, to me, makes the end product inedible,
@~ 4:50 for the thumbnail, nothing else that good in the vid ... sorry not sorry ;p .. Should be having ya corned beef n cabbage sheps pie bake in the list

Very interesting. Thank you for the history.

My cousin called Chef John “corny”
I called her an ambulance.
But that's what we love about him
“Wee-Woo, Wee-Woo... You’re an ambulance!”
For my daughter on Mother's Day!
Oh the Last statement was Funny, JOHN. Yeah Giving Birth IS alot of Work and Pain.Bless Your Heart. Great Video Hon. ♡♡♡
That is so right. Make Mom a beautiful, tasty, quiche. Make yourself a beautiful New York steak with eggs and hash brown potatoes, sour dough toast and strawberry jam. Your mom will be so happy.
That video description is just... *chef's kiss*
"Remember, you are the Suzanne Pleshette of your French Omelett.' So cute! (And I remember her well)
Joan Jett, too 😉

What would I do without you, Chef John? You are my sunshine!
Bravo! Most excellent choices for Breakfast! Wow. Everything you so elegantly created for us was a Have to Make item for MOM!
Yum yum.. 😋
Thank you John 😊
My wife gets breakfast in bed every Sunday. I can now expand my offerings. Thanks Chef John.
You’ve got a lucky wife!
That is lovely, and I know you enjoy doing this for her. To receive such a gift is equally generous. Honestly I would have difficulty being so pampered. Cheers to you both good sir.
Your tarty wife
It’s a wonderful act. However breakfast in bed is wrong unless if someone is in a state of starvation.
@@ramencurry6672 oh, shush.
I feel like the world’s worst daughter, having never made any of these. I definitely will try all recipes! 🤤 amazing!
Username checks out.
love the perfection and the quality of cooking
Eggs and cheese and green beans and brown bread and good job
I like you, chef. Lots of fun and lots of learning. Thanks!
Thank you. That looks delicious and so easy!
A simple mimosa would be nice with the French omelette. It looks so tasty.
That omelette is one of the things every man needs to know how to cook.
Thank you chef

My parents are making breakfast and bed 🛌 😴 😌 ☺ 😩 🤗 are excellent, Chef John. Thanks!
Wow looks very nice chef.
I'm from the south so I really need some biscuits, & gravy, sausage, scrambled eggs, grits, & fried potatoes with onions.
I always enjoy your methodology and recipes. It's funny, I accidentally made the lemony pancakes. Sorry to tell you, but I use Bisquick and I thought, lemon extract, that might be interesting. It was awesome with maple syrup. But I want to try this version with ricotta

Love your show
… but you know what else is a lot of work, giving birth… God bless you Chef John, and thanks for acknowledging that extremely true fact!!!😉🙏❤️
Yum! That quiche
Looks yummy!
You mentioned that these dishes are excellent to surprise moms, but they make me think of Christmas for some reason. Maybe it's your voice or the music used in the video.
Happy Belated Mothers Day to the mothers in the comment section.
Рецепт просто восхитителен! Мы обязательно должны это попробовать!
Спасибо за совет!!!Л 😊 👍 👍 👍 🌹 🌹 🌹 🌹 🌹
Perfect 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
Wow good food
I hope your channel will be more successful, bro, greetings from a beginner UA-camr
Any way to make the pancakes thinner? I hate thick cakes. They sound amazing. THX
Use the recipe for the crêpes that John used in the Blintz recipe.
You’ll love them.
Alsace and Lorraine in France. Like green onions in mine.
My mom and put I grape jelly on our omelets
Looks it's really good and delicious .😅🤣
I love that you chose a wine based on your ability to pronounce it!🤣
Good morning from Renton WA 🌦☁️🌦☁️❤️😋❤️😋❤️😋❤️
Good video
I love these pancakes so much! I'm not a huge fan of maple so I used about some thickened mascerated strawberries, and could resist...I pulled out the reddiwhip.

1 syllable!
My mom says "Why do you say it like that?" I never knew I said it different Mom 😭
Thank goodness that at 16:32 you didn't sacrafice the golden retriever toast !!!!
Can't wait for the breakfast in bad topic
What camera did you use for the first part of this episode? It looks exactly like it was filmed in the very early 2000s, i love that.
The Quiche Lorraine section of the video.
Dear John, you said not to buy your eggs from the same place where you buy your motor oil(?). Where I live there is a mom and pop service station where they have milk, bread, vegies in season and fresh farm eggs delivered every morning.
Oooooh yaaaaah ! 🥹😋
Enjoy your videos cause your funny, oh yeah, and good cooking instructions. Also, what kind of pan was used for the omelet: really non stick?
I’ll admit to salsa on a Denver omelette
I've watched til 32.5 min. Hope to see you in my house 2Wins Channel
LMAO don't get your eggs from the same place as where you get your motor oil. I love the unsaid way of putting a very good message out there.
Lorraine is the area in France where this dish comes from.
i was in the pool lol
How does the oven firm up the filling? Wouldn’t warming up the cheese make them even softer?
but, the eggs will firm up
Definitely less disappointed. 🤣🤣🤣
ROFL
Oh geeze! Ketsup on an omelette! But otherwise delish!
Somebody stole my blender ##!@#?$% leaving me with nothing 😡#!?@&
Ça rigole pas quand vous mangez 😁😉👅👍Vous avez raison
Probably named for the French-German border territory of Alsace-Lorraine, oui oui???
Oui!
Tout à fait !
Mmmmm, could one double the quiche lorraine and freeze one? Looks amazing!
Bad boy Bubby
Grew up in ri where we all have ketchup on our eggs!
A1 sauce is better than ketchup on omelettes 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋
Hey you’re not the only one that’s weird my mom goes ahead and she puts grape jelly on her eggs
I like ketchup or Heinz 57 on my eggs
I was slightly confused because of lack of sleep and forgot what American cheese was and googled it.. I don't know what I was expecting but.. 🤦♀
You put cayenne on everything lolol that’s a bad habit of yours 🤣
I can’t tell you what American cheese is but i can tell you what it is not and what it is not is cheese! 🤣
nutmeg please in the crepe dish
blintzes
Do you have a vegan version, my wife's Vegan!!??
That quiche needs nutmeg! It is a requirement.
Jon Townsend? Is that you? 😉
I have a Scone Lorraine recipe that uses nutmeg. I agree nutmeg is traditional.
I can't deal with voice tone, what's with the high/low small sentences?
Anyone who doesn't butter each pancake shouldn't be trusted.
What do you do if you're allergic to bell peppers?
Someone else pointed out Poblano peppers would make a fantastic substitute but I would assume those raise the same issue for you?
Some nice recipe ideas but why do all the SAVOURY dishes have sugar in them? Would willingly make many of them - already do but under different names - but without all that killer sugar which, to me, makes the end product inedible,
Denver Omelette aka Discount Quiche
Every time you hear "highly recommend" take - a - shot.
Caution: do not drive or operate heavy machinery while watching.
Is it 3 or 5 eggs?
The quiche? 3 eggs and 2 yolks
Those blintzes were terrible!
Paint my fence!
Make me!
I save the bacon grease to a bowl, in case I need to add some back for sauté of veg.
It's a sin to throw out bacon grease
I believe that Quiche Lorraine was named after the Lorraine Region of France...
Fact: when A french chef says put some butter in.. It means as little as possible.. no one likes fat food.
@~ 4:50 for the thumbnail, nothing else that good in the vid ... sorry not sorry ;p .. Should be having ya corned beef n cabbage sheps pie bake in the list
SURP
I love ‘the jazz that nobody likes’. It’s true… I know its au fait with democrats but traditional jazz is much more fun😉
Pp egg
Lorraine is half a province in France. Not some woman. Is there a quiche Alsace? Throw in some potatoes.
#FreeAssange
Or that jazz nobody likes! 😆 🤣 😂
