I ve got a same one but 2009 (facelift) and i absolutely love it! Its suprisingly fun to drive around the corners. Thanks for the vid, I really enjoyed it. Edit: i have noticed you had trouble with 1st gear,be careful not to pull on reverse safety or put in in 1st faster, had same issue couple of times when i was putting it into 1st gear way too slowly,it just jammed up and had to force it in :D
@@SimpleDrive yep. Happening to me too sometimes, even when i own my astra since 2018,that 1st gear is sometimes a fight to put in,it only happens once in a while. The 6 gear manuals in 1.9CDTi have a lot more problems unfortunately. :D thanks. ;)
I would take. GOLF 5 although it is pretty slow to wake up after accelerator push, but I like both the exterior and interior as it is well designed. But the diference between both cars are very small.
Imo the Astra H is bit more fun because of the way the engine revs and it likes to be revved when you drive it more spirited,it does not loose "breath" in higher revs like TDIs tend to,also i think Astra gives you more feedback overall and it feels involving, the car feels more exciting despite being kinda sluggish in low revs, you just gotta get used to keep it at least about 1600 revs because under 1600 engine is quite lazy in higher gears and you need to downshift and push the gas more than in other cars, but its very responsive on gas pedal and has very good steering that gives you more feedback and is stiffer than on VW because it has standard hydraulic power steering, not servotronic. But suspension on Astra is softer unless you have sport suspension or active one (with sport mode button) and even if you have regular one it does not feel boring or dangerous, its quite predictable, fun and i never had too much understeer because its so easy to predict also i never had a tire squeal or slide when i went to curve fast,it feels soft but stable if you are not too harsh with the steering. I personally love the way the Astra drives despite the regular suspension being quite soft and the 74kw 1.7CDTi i have being sluggish as heck and slow in higher gears, i find it as a fun car to drive because the way it gives you feedback and how easy and sattisfying it is to drive. Although,i recommend a more powerfull engine variant than 74kw if you are looking for a diesel, ideally 6 g. gearbox because the 5th gear on 74kw variant is short and revs a lot on highway speeds (3k revs on 130kph). I have no experience with petrol ones so i cant say. The Golf 5 is a great car too,but if you are looking more for fun and feedback i would go for Astra,if for practicality and interior features (cupholders, storage etc.) more speed and torque in lower revs i would go for Golf. Also if you are looking for a wagon,Astra H wagon is cheaper than Golf 5 Variant ( wagon) from what i observed.
I like to test how that engine behaves under different circumstances. As you say it would be better to keep RPM's a bit higher and keep it in 4th gear, but for the sake of testing I sometimes pick higher gears.
I love the idea of the sound directly from the engine. That is what i was looking for.
Very good Idea never seen before! Congratulations!!!!!!
I have an astra caravan like this ♥️♥️

Yess that was a problem with the 1st gear. :D Just had to use a bit more force to the left and it went straight in. Happy you enjoy the video :)

Astrīda ♥
Simple Drive likes your comment. And likes Astrīda. And likes to drive. And likes.
Cheers buddy. 😀
Which car is more fun to drive? Astra H or golf 5

@@existenz_svk2639 Thanks for such a detailed and informative comment, but I think that the alfa romeo 147 will be more fun than these two cars.

I love my o8 xr 3 Dr 1.8 five speed man only thing motor starting to puff smoke ounce in awhile
Keep that bee alive and treat it well 🙂
12:41 first gear not engage
Yes the gearbox was terible on this car, especially 1st gear.
Hello i have the same car, the trick is to shift the gear into 2nd gear and then 1st gear if you want to kick it into first gear without struggling
