- An unexpected Beetle sleeper turns out to be the best contender for the overpowered duos of the Koenigsegg Regera and the Porsche 911 Carrera RSR. Lap times this Beetle is achieving don't lie, it is equivalent/better compared to the OP duos.
Fully Upgraded Level 399 572HP Herbie Volkswagen Beetle derelict race spec gameplay for Need For Speed Payback. Showcasing it's overall performance in 2 offline events and 2 online races.
Disclaimer: The Beetle can be faster on technical tracks compared to the Regera but you will still lose to in highway/top speed tracks in multiplayer speedlists. Also read my performance review below on the Beetle because it is an extremely difficult car to master. It won't be a Regera/911 RSR killer if you can't master the car.

Volkswagen Beetle Race Spec Performance Review:
I'm surprised, and I'm sure you are too. Excluding highway tracks, the Volkswagen Beetle could possibly be the fastest race spec car around a track, BUT I would still recommend the 911 RSR instead over the Beetle.
First the accel, the best acceleration in race spec. The most powerful NOS accel in the game. It also has the worse engine acceleration once you hit 6th gear. It after all only has 572 horsepower. It just can't maintain it's speed once you hit 6th gear, so it's pretty weak for highway races.
So for the handling, I split into 2. How fast it corners and it's "predictability". The Beetle can corner as fast as the 911 Carrera RSR. It is a fact. The Beetle also has the highest downforce in the game. It's like a road magnet. If you jump off the ramp and compared to the Regera, the Regera has wings while the Beetle sinks like a stone. In other words, since it doesn't fly easily, you can carry more speed.
This is the part where I talk about it's predictability. It is a very difficult car to master and achieve 100%. The way the Beetle drifts, starts of really heavy and understeery, and then suddenly becomes light, drift angle increased and you hit the inside wall because of how sharp the Beetle can turn once it reaches maximum drift angle. Because of this drifting characteristic, it is a very difficult car to master and you are much better of using the more reliable 911 RSR. Also, you can't use handbrake in the Beetle, it doesn't respond to handbrake, the same issue as the 240z.
At high speeds, the Beetle has terrible drift recovery speed and it is very difficult to microdrift shallow turns because it turns too much.
Combined with it's inability to maintain top speed, it's a terrible highway car. It also loses a lot of speed going off-road/switching lanes.
The Volkswagen Beetle can be a Regera/911 RSR killer if you master the car. The thing is, it is a very difficult car to master.
How does it compare with 911 RSR and Regera:

4:00, that guy in the Regera reminds me so much of the Henassey noobs back in NFS2012, they've got a fast car but they're a terrible driver and can't drift around a corner without knocking into everything and everyone.

Problem is S-turns it is very difficult to get the angle for the 2nd turn. And it does not gradually become light... it suddenly becomes light :P

The only car that comes to mind is the BMW M5. The rest is straight forward where the drifting weight is constant.
I love using the M5 online, might be worth me trying out the Beetle if it handles similarly in drifting. Also quick question, are you using any mods/edits to get all your cards to 3 stacks or are you seriously sitting there rolling for hours like everyone else hoping rngesus lands you that good card. Because I'm frankly sick of this card shit and love a way to just outright skip it all, its bad enough using CE to give myself unlimited number of cards but after going through 100~ rolls over the pace of like 40 minutes, it makes me not want to play anymore.

It’s a Road Magnet. So basically the Payback version of MW2012’s F1-LM with Aero body Standard. That’s the one and only hypercar they also need to add in this game. I need it.
They had it in NFS:R but only as a cop car. But holy shit that thing was amazing.

the P1 and the aventador are good there too, replacing it would be kinda dumb TBH, also, although i think the F1 could fit in this game, maybe even as an abandoned car (really like this events, they should use for releasing new cars outside these that should had been there all along) i know they are all low tier but thinking about the fact the F1 is old and the cars seem to be some sort of the house deal or something like tech traffic or something, it may actually fit, also i think we should get a buggati or even a venom GT to compete with the regera because he is the only true high tier hypercar in the game (the huayra and the vulcan should also be in such tier but seems like ghost didnt wanted too and nerfed them)

they really need to buff the top speed of some of the cars in the game and also make every car reach 399. Making every car cap at around 370-380 KM/H while the regera can reach over 420 is just kinda stupid, one car that can obliterate all others on top speed tracks. cars like the viper, huayra, aventador, vulcan, P1 and some other supercars and other cars with very high HP should also get over 400 KM/H

Suika Same logic to many other cars, RX7 and lancer are the only iconic tuners that can reach 399, and only the abandoned and derilick cars are proper sleepers for the same reason

I had a problem...i update my herbie(i love that movie) to superbuild and upgrades to slow .I updated when it was 304 i make one race and win my speed card didn’t updated .I make 7 seven mire races,and i level up it just 306.The go to the tune-shop and all speed-cards were bad.(sorry for bad english)What i need to do for level up my herbie???

very nice that you still became second place despite the regera chrashed into you. hey, i would like to see the honda civic or the s 2000. or some other level 299 cars. also what i would like to see is a video where you only drive on the arc tower track but with different cars. to see wich cars are the best for that track. i think the fastest one is the regera for that. but what else is fast on there? what comes after the regera?

No need to show 299 cars since they can't compete online and are (obviously) worse than 399's
aren't the cars online matched? i don't know because i don't play online. but this would be a good idea. it also would be a good idea to have online lobbys that allow maximum level 299 car's. there are some really nice cars in that game that only go to 299. he used some of them in his videos. but i havent seen the honda civic and the s 2000.
The ark tower track to me isn't interesting, it's just an oval and you need to wall ride the final turn. I don't plan on doing lv299 cars because there is a possibility they will be updated to lv399.
