Hello Riley! I'm a digital media producer working with the National Archives of Game Show History in Rochester, NY on a podcast featuring interviews with former game show contestants. Would Shari be interested in chatting about her Wheel experience?
Our mother, Shari, actually just passed away this month from early onset Alzheimer’s. She watched wheel of fortune pretty much every single day of her life though. We still have several of the prizes she won though, including the water bed, brass pedestals and lots of clothing.
My condolences to you, Riley, Shaina, and everyone for the loss of your mom. This is so special that you have a recorded way to celebrate and remember your mom. Comfort and God’s blessings to you all.
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. What a comfort it must be to have such a shining moment in her life captured on tape, and now on UA-cam as well. Thanks for the response, and happy holidays.
Big thanks for sharing this. Daytime "Wheel" is always fun, and it's especially nice when Rolf Benirschke-hosted episodes turn up. I'm curious - what prizes did Shari keep, if any?
Our mother, Shari, just passed away this month from early onset Alzheimer’s, but to this day in her home is the water bed, the wicker patio set, the brass pedestals, and most of the clothing. We’re all still big Wheel Watchers over here- mom watched every day even til the end. ❤
Airdates appear to be 4/21 and 4/24/1989 here as the Win lose or Draw daytime celebrities appeared on that show during that weeK(part of Wed 4/19 is up on one of Michael Pannoni's pages), and since the second show is a Monday show, those appear to be the airdates.
Rolf Benirschke's tenure as a Wheel Of Fortune host was short, he only hosted the game show for six months until it was cancelled by NBC.
@jamethong8005 Then, in July of 1989, The Daytime Version of WHEEL OF FORTUNE Moved to CBS, and the Host was Bob Goen

Rolf was alright for a daytime host... Just my opinion folks.
He got better as he settled in. ☺️

@@ShainaWellsRip to her.
@@ShainaWellsI’m very sorry for your loss. She was a good Wheel player
Rare instance of the five-round main game in the shopping era in daytime version on Shari’s first game.
And that’s not counting the special week when they had Military Week in Chuck’s run
@@Eminem200183 you mean the October 1978 where there’s a six-rounder game.
@@anthonyguarino4242 That would be correct. However that last day of the Military Week, they were playing for cash
@@Eminem200183 yeah, no shopping on the last day of that week.
