I am glad I am not the only one who acctually really enjoyed FF2. I played the PSP version BTW, and I believe most of the "fixes" included in the PR version is already there,
I think it's interesting that you came out of this game with the feelings for it that you did. I've always had a soft spot for this one and all its weird eccentricities, and honestly as I get older I look on it much more fondly. Great vid all around! now do Soul of Rebirth
@@IdolismJ best I got for ya is "it's a lot more of the same but shorter and not really all that interesting". Bless the GBA and PSP for hosting what is essentially an extra campaign, but it's pretty much completely superfluous haha
Thank you! the FF3 video entered production a couple days ago so hopefully that is up in about a month or so. im jonesing to play/replay FF6-FFX the most. I've at least touched all of those sans FF9 at some point
Finally finding a kindred spirit who loves FF2 is really awesome. You really deserve more views/subs, got mine for sure. 👌 Also Mysidia Tower DOES fucking rule!!!!
I think its kinda just a thing that was in the water for a lot of Western takes. In research for this (and FF3) I've seen a lot of shit that is just plain wrong about FF2 and I kinda assume theres a lot of that going on for the SaGa series as well. Older write ups on the series that maybe didnt try to see it on it's level and just brushed it off as "Bad". The only SaGa i've played was like an hour of Unlimited back when i was a teenager and I have heard that one is especially rough
@@IdolismJ It's so unhinged even Kawazu admitted he went too far in an interview a while back. Good starting points I'd say are the Gameboy ones (SaGa 1-2 have the same formula, but more like the OG Final Fantasy where you pick your party and their strength evolves depending on what they are. I love SaGa 3 to bits, but I'd avoid it SPECIFICALLY because it's not a Kawazu game if you're trying to get a handle on the style) and SaGa Frontier Remastered. Much like this one Frontier Remastered sandpapers away a lot of the problems the original had (namely, the lack of knowing where to go as you now have a handy plot guide telling you what you just did and what you can do next) and it also has less weapons to grind for (Sword, Gun, Fist instead of the whole suite you see here). The stories themselves are pretty short so if you want to give one a go to see if you like it, you don't have to commit to a full playthrough of all 7 of them (8 if you count the Fuse Alternate retellings in the Remastered version). The Unity ports of Romancing SaGa 2-3 are also pretty good because of how much you can customize the experience. For 2 especially since you can NG+ at any time so if you feel you hated how you handled something, you can just... restart and keep your shit.
Okay finally sitting down to watch this lol. I think the GBA version was probably my favorite just for how it approaches magic. Magics hella good in that version with the tweaks to equipment. There’s nothing like being a dual shield back row mage.
Good vod Jay Fr tho, play SaGa/FFL one time. It’s pretty short, Mutants level similarly to FF2, you get to use a chainsaw against an Amish god on the Gameboy. Great time.
Those hits of The Game had me losing it! Great video, friendo!
That really was one of the best gags ive done lmao

pill me on Soul of Rebirth bc I need to focus on FF3

Looking forward to seeing you play through all of them, especially the 90's ones

for real tho whoever said SaGa was bad was lying to you. Except Unlimited Saga which is Kawazu at his most unhinged.

Its not thaaaaaaaat baaaaad...
its not bad at all!
You're talking about 2 as if it's 3 in bad mechanics, but keep diving into 4 and 6s bad mechnics Keep your story straight.
