- Yes, you heard it right... it's happening... we're slowly becoming Singaporean. 🇸🇬
The first sign is: we crave durian! So we'll take you durian shopping with us in this video as well as showing you all the other reasons why we think we're slowly starting to blend into our environment.
That awesome song 🌶 is by vv e r e vv o l f. It's very hard to get it out of your head... sorry! (Not sorry!)

There are just so many choices for breakfast for your everyday needs . 😊
If you are feeling having a hearty breakfast = Roti prata , bak ku teh etc
If you are feeling light mood = toast bread + eggs
If you are feeling inbetween having a light or full meal = noodles ( and there's just so many different types of noodles and ingredients available )
If you are feeling having a western breakfast = there are places around that offer breakfast set with scrambled eggs + bacon + sausages + ham paired with orange juice or milk available
If you are feeling having fast food for breakfast = McDonalds breakfast meal , Burger King breakfast set , KFC breakfast etc are just around the corner
If you are feeling peckish = there are dim sums , chee cheong fan , glutinous rice , baos ( meat buns ) , etc
If you are feeling under the weather = soupy stuffs ( like fish soup / shredded chicken kway teo soup ) or just porridge .
OMG you guys love durians😳?? Love this video: light-hearted and so true😂😂! Welcome to Singapore by the way!
Awww thank you! It’s great to live here 😄
It's amazing how foreigners learned to adapt the asian culture hats off to u!!
Cute and receptive. Big thumbs to you guys.
Very good explanation of durian. I always tell my western friends to not think of durian like a standard juicy sweet fruit, but more of a custardy, complex dessert....
💯
Love you for loving us, our foods, and our ways....as weird as it may seem sometimes. Thank You much...
You two are pretty hilarious. I’m a Singaporean living in Canada for decades and find it so amusing I just emailed my friends this episode ....keep it up 👍🤗!
The pool queue one was hilarious.
Quite possibly the funniest, quirky and most relatable "becoming Singaporean" video I have seen. Thank you.
Love Singapore. My wife has extended family there so we visit often. Can’t say I’ve developed a taste for durian, but they keep trying. Behind eating, arguing about where to eat the best (fill in the blank) and shopping, seems to me that the next most popular thing is going to the seemingly endless array of travel agents to book tours. Particularly in and around the malls in Chinatown, I’ve never seen so many travel agencies.
Welcome to Singapore. You are almost there. Just need to pass the ultimate Singaporean test -- able to speak in fluent Singlish. Haha.
Wow, you sunflower seeds skills is excellent! A couple of seconds and the meat is out!
VERY INTERESTING COUPLE , ENJOY SINGAPORE LIFESTYLE.
“ YES SINGAPORE “ 👍👍👍❤️🇸🇬
Thank you! Yes… enjoying Singapore 🙃
Usimg Chopsticks is a great way to eat stuffs without getting your hands dirty . I even use it on chips , crackers etc . Like potato chips . Lol .
Oh man you guys really like local. 👍
I use those long chop sticks too .
I have some friends eating durian with chopsticks 😂. Best way is still using your hands. In the old days, locals like to bring sunflower seeds into cinema/theatre, and they left the shell all over the floor after consuming! 😲
That must have been so noisy in the cinema!!! And the shells everywhere!
@@theggshow9999 That was in the old days, don't do this now, you will get fines! However there is one place where you throw your peanut shells on the floor after consuming, that is Long Bar at Raffles Hotel.😄
I’ve never been to the bar at Raffles hotel... need to check it out!
@@theggshow9999 This is the place where the cocktail " Singapore Sling" is created! A must try cocktail.
Cant believe It. Wow. Expat eat durian. 👍❤💯
Lovely video n entertaining ,like it,Good work
What a wonderful couple, enjoying life to the max.
keep transforming 😊
omg!! Too funny!! Enjoy your video. Will you do a QnA?
😃😃yes. Those 5 things are very Singaporean. Welcome to Singapore. !!
Thank you! ☺️
Love your video.
You go girl!
😍❤Your channel is literally my comfort place. You make me so happy. Love you❤
Wow, 🙏🏻
Lol... You guys are awesome and cute.
And im really bad at the sunflower seeds skills . Dont think i'd be able to master it 😂🤣 . You guys are really great at it . 😊😊😊
jeeez.. u guys are cool.. not many foreigners from the west really appreciate durians
Hahah it’s definitely an acquired taste. But once you’ve acquired it, it’s addictive!!
@@theggshow9999 rite ON!! :p ohh... just be careful not to eat too much.. not only this fruit is good for your health, but it is also bad for your health too ..lol
yes to an episode of singaporean breakfast items!
Awesome! I just needed an excuse to eat all these tasty and unhealthy breakfast foods. So, thank you for that 😂
LOL......u guys are so cute
Like 239
Good video and God bless my friend
So so good
i laughed when i watch u guys biting sunflowers seeds....... Really singaporean.....
It’s so much fun to eat them!
To qualify the Sporean status is by speaking authentic Singlish lah, hahaha!
Super!
Wow
I love the way you use the super long chopstick for pizza. Try using it for chips.
Great idea 🤣
Haha...welcome to Singapore! ♥️
Thank you! 😊
Little tip for buying durians . Dont buy it during the day, get it at night. Reason being fresh durians drop from the tree when they're ripe and only drop at dawn by the time framers collect and export them to Singapore it would be in the late evening. Normally the durians you get during day time are left over from last night.
Thank you for the tip! We’ve sort of figured that out over time via trial and error... now we sometimes go after dinner and get a durian treat. But the season will be over soon, won’t it? 😢
The GG Show yes unfortunately it’s coming to the end of the season and prices are quite high now. I understand that there’s another season in December.
www.you.co/sg/blog/types-of-durians-how-to-pick-the-best-durian/
Thanks for the tip!
Nice!
I love durian but one thing i learned, only buy from a stall that full of durian as the leftovers usually isn't the best.
Thanks for the tip!
Pizza with chopsticks? That's quite hilarious😂👍😁 even I don't do that 😂😂
It's so good!
So glad to learn that you are in Singapore with an opened mind and an opened heart. Perhaps one day you will try Malay breakfast too; in addition to all sort of western cooked breakfast as well.
Oh yes, I definitely will! Are there any places that you would recommend for Malay breakfast? Thank you for your comment ☺️
@@theggshow9999 Hey,
i like #3 mee rebus (Malay noodles in tangy savoury sauce).. There are many other breakfast hawker stalls for your considerations.

Enjoy your adventure...
Thank you! ☺️
@@theggshow9999 Try "Longtong"
Yes. U Shld do a video for breakfast 😁
Yes!! Thank you. I need the encouragement 😄
Welcome to Singapore. Enjoy the durians. haha
Thank you! We’re waiting for them to come back into season!
wow number 5 is hardcore..even i havent done that in ages..
😂
Eating seeds is a past time activity.....
(Your opening intro music also happens to be heavy metal. Nice.)
Are you perhaps slowly turning more Singaporean using Conversion Software version 7.0?
Apologies, I only just saw your comment somehow but I just wanted to say that I appreciate your System of a Down references 😂👏🏻🤘🏻
Durians from Asia, Apples from Europe.
Haha....welcome to the Singapore Society 😁
Thank you!! 😃
The sunflower seeds part is hilarious 🤣
You won’t believe it but we’re actually sitting here right now eating sunflower seeds again 🤣
The GG Show💑🌻🌻🍻😄
I can’t agree that those 5 signs are uniquely Singaporean BUT you’re definitely becoming Singaporean because you kept talking about food and eating!! 🤣🤣
Hahaha yes, I’ve become slightly obsessed with food! 😃 And yeah... agree with you that those five things aren’t uniquely Singaporean. But I guess they are certainly things you can find here. ☺️
I'm Singaporean....and I don't even eat durians. I walk AROUND the durian stalls just to avoid walking near them!
Hahaha! It is a strong smell, that’s for sure!
😎😎😎😎😎
How come I don’t see you eating the durians ? LOL
You should change the video title; 5 Signs We're Turning More Singaporean than Singaporeans.
Hahahahaha! Nice idea 😄
Try bubur durian😁😁😁
Oh come on, we use hands for pizza! 🤣😄
I know, I know!! Was just joking!!
Of course, no explanation required😆😁
You missed some sign, casual wearing all day , sandal/flip flop all the times ~ lol
Hahaha! I actually didn’t think that was very Singaporean! A lot of people here wear long trousers and shirts and stuff (which I can only do when I spend my day in an office). But yeah, maybe you’re right!
LOL... No idea eating sunflower seeds is Singaporean thing. :)
i can hear the sg accent creeping into your speech haha
Hahaha really? I love listening to that accent but I think I'm still quite a long way off speaking it myself 😅
I can hear it too. I don't think anyone should consciously put on an accent... it'd just be fake. But when you acquire it naturally I guess you can't even tell when you have it.
Hahaha nice! So this is the sixth sign that I’m turning local! Maybe I should update the video 😂
May I know where is the durian stall?
Sure! It’s on Jalan Besar, kind of opposite Swee Choon Tim Sum restaurant.
GEYLANG MOST HOUS ING BOARD ESTATES,,
Give you both another couple of years and we'll make real Peranakans out of you! 😆
Just add achar, sambal belachan (fermented shrimp paste - more stinky than durian) into your food. And seek out 'buah keluak' to eat... that's a whole story by itself. There's even a local novel how a MIL used that dish to poison the DIL.
PS: the sunflower seed can progress to one more level ... 'kuah chi' (melon seeds). An ancient chinese mummy discovered in her tomb was covered with jade plates (for immortality), and inside her stomach, they found melon seeds. You can google that one!
Hahaha the challenge is on!
I’ve tried melon seeds but they’re so hard to eat! I have to practise more. And I cooked something with fermented shrimp the other day but it was too much 😂 so fishy! I think I have a long way to go... definitely need more years!
lol wut, but durian is so expensive - coming from a singaporean
It is very expensive. We usually buy the cheaper varieties but still 😅 special treat!
My personal knowledge. Most breeds are costly and less seeds. Go for XO durian, pale grey skin, lot of seeds and meat. Decently priced.
@@theggshow9999 durian season is back. I always go for the good one to pamper myself. You never regret. Afterall it is seasonal. Try MSW.猫山王。
You occasionally need to end your sentences with a “laaa”. That will make you distinctly Singaporean.
Hahaha yeah... I think I’m not quite there yet 😅
My sister roz and Gary in Singapore for 11 years..love it my the way I'm sorry but that fruit stinks
Hahaha yes that fruit does have a very pungent smell 🤣
She likes near Bedok, but to be fair I haven't fried it.. missed Singapore in April.. so mat try whenever we get back. FYI she has a meet up group, been going for years.
Sorry lives near Bedok..www.meetup.com/SgSAHW/
Oh NoOOoOoooo!!! You should always, always, always, eat the seeds directly from the durian fruit, never put it into a takeout box. It changes the flavour and taste!!!!
*sad*
Noted! We’ll do better next time 😄
