Hello bud just the video i was looking for to know what lures to use for bass fishing thanks very much my good friend really appreciate it thanks for sharing big like from me bud 🤝👍
I fish a 10’ rod. I am taller than average. I wouldn’t fish anything less than 81/2’. Traditionally we in the U.K. prefer to fish with a longer rod. The great Ed Schliffke fished with an 11’ spinning rod. I think we have been influenced by French anglers who prefers a much shorter rod. I started coarse fishing and the standard float rod is 13’. A longer rod casts longer and gives you more control in steering a lunging away from rock and sea weed. So a 10’ or 11’ is perfect for shore fishing.
Just wanted to say thank you Dude, for inspiring me to get out there and give it a go. I'm a Portsmouth resident and after watching one of your older videos I went down to Old Portsmouth with my new (birthday present) rod and reel, hooks in the water at 8.30pm. I had a schoolie bass at 37cm long on a black minnow lure at 9pm, and when I didn't have anything else on that lure I remembered something you said in that older video about switching to a seeker, so I followed that recommendation and with that I hooked a big 45cm European squid(!) at 9.45pm. I went home at 10pm. Very surprised to land the squid on the bass lure, and much exultant "HURRAH" noises were heard along the beach, and on the (Old Portsmouth) Victoria pier by a fellow angler (fishing with with bait) who hadn't landed anything despite him putting in more time than me, as I walked back to my car I detoured via that pier to find out if he'd had anything and to give him some encouragement that "the fish are deffo out there!". If I hadn't watched that video of yours I likely wouldn't have gone out tonight, and most likely not gone to that location, but thanks to your inspiration I had a really great night and I am now massively back into lure fishing! Tight-lines dude, and keep up the good work! 😀
Love this video, the next level after getting a bass on a lure is catching on the fly .. honestly give it a go !! Playing the fish with fly rod and using your hand on reel to stop the fish running is just epic .
I spent £30 on a rod and reel combo at my local tackle shop, its dont me well. I've upgraded the reel but the rod! I cant believe how good it is for the price... it near on folds in half if I wanted it to! And it's got great action and casts a mile, I would put it up against any of my other more expensive bait fishing rods. Its shocking how good a glass fibre rod is compared to a carbon fibre when you compare the price. Lesson learned tbh, I did have a look at some more expensive ones but I didnt know if I was going to be that into lure fishing so I went cheap and I'm glad I did. If it breaks, I'll just get a new one tbh
Nice video, my office is in the background, I’ve always wondered how to fish this area, thinking of getting some waders, you ever been stuck in the mud? 😂
Yes I use mono as backing, it helps prevent the entire spool of braid spinning on the spool. It also beefs up the reel if your only using 150m of braid.

Another time, half of it fell in the water, never to be seen again. Best believe some profanities were heard, that day. NEVER AGAIN. Other than that, great tips.
Very good video, I've got myself the nebula 2.7M 12-42g rod and penn battle III 3000 DX reel, what lures would you recommend for that weight of rod? I've been experimenting with the savage gear gravity stick set, I've been adding extra weights to the body of the lures with the weighted hook and also the additional spike weights you get in the set, I actually use one on the belly and one at the back of the lure, you mention the savage gear seeker, love those lures, 23g and 28g versions I have, love the fact they are simple to use, just on a straight steady retrieve they work well.
Thank you Sam, I hope it helps. That's actually a good rod, I had one but slammed it in the car door 😪 Try using your gravity sticks with no added weight, find some tide and let them float down before you retrieve 😉
