Jimmy Martin was not known as "The King of Bluegrass" for no reason.! This is one of his top notch classics. He had the richest voice, and in my opinion the best and bluesiest bluegrass voice of all time.
Best bluegrass i've ever heard and a country girl way back from the woods and i'm a bluegrass fool..that banjo is so dammmmmm great. peace of mine..so relaxing
I went to my great uncle Jimmy Martins house growing up and I remember Ol Pete. He had a lot of dogs . He made me cry laughing everytime I saw Jimmy. He was the BEST !!!!!!
You probably dont care but if you're bored like me during the covid times you can stream all of the new movies on InstaFlixxer. I've been binge watching with my brother for the last few weeks xD
there was no better back beat, back up banjo picker than j.d. crowe... the young crowe had a style that no one could fathom.. it was often a two finger, double thumbing approach, and you will hear it here... the fills were perfection, and the lead impeccable....
Honey You Don't Know My Mind Honey you don't know my mind I'm lonesome all the time Born to lose a drifter that's me You can travel for so long then a rambler's heart goes wrong Baby you don't know my mind today Heard the music of a rail slept in every old dirty jail And life's too short for you to worry me When I find I can't win I'll be checking out again Baby you don't know my mind today I've been a hobo and a tramp my soul has done been stamped Lord things I know I learned the hard hard way I ain't here to judge or plea but to give my poor heart ease Baby you don't know my mind today Honey you don't know my mind I'm lonesome all the time Born to lose a drifter that's me You say I'm sweet and kind I can love you a thousand times Baby you don't know my mind today
Grew up with him as my father's hunting buddy. They hunted everything. A funny man with an awesome bluegrass sound.
I know a guy in Hamilton Ohio that Jimmy always went coon hunting with when he was in southwest Ohio.
Cool little story.
Jimmy’s bluegrass takes me back to a more innocent and pleasurable time in my life. Very much missed.
Takes a little imagination to connect Jimmy Martin with innocent. But the music stands on its own.

Bluegrass Special yep
Also Ralph Stanley. I don't think anyone will ever match their voices.
Bluegrass Special couldn’t have said it better myself!!!
THE KING
Our own Bluegrass Boogiemen in The Netherlands honor Jimmy Martin every live show by playing this song of his. One of my favorite songs.

My all time favorite Jimmy Martin song.
Sure wish he was still with us.

That's some mighty fine a pickin and a singin!
It don't get no better than this ! RIP Jimmy
Wish I would have been around to go to all the Bluegrass Festivals. I really like most of his music and that Freeborn Man song too!
Benny Martin, the fiddler. What a great sequence of double stops! They are amazing.
no better song to listen to while riding that freight train!!
he never had to strain , to sing
had a great voice cant see why they dont have a sign up telling people this is where jimmy was raised , it should not cost much
I hope you folks get such a sign. Heck, I'm proud just to be from the same continent as this man.
They don't talk about jimmy in sneedville?
@@einrifitz3089 can't imagine what else there is to talk about 🤣
one of my bluegrass favorites....thanks for posting
THE MORE I LISTEN TO JIMMY THE MORE I HEAR HANK SR.!!! SUCH A GREAT FEEL!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆

Brother Jimmy Martin Look to the East !
Things I know I've learnt the hard, hard way...........
one of my favorite singers.
Nice 👌
Love love this!
The best.
Got to party with him at House and Barn Mt Bluegrass festival
I know Jimmie's older; I hear some Jimmie in how Tony Rice interpreted songs vocally
Jimmy Martin is the definition of excellence in bluegrass singing, without a doubt. Bill Monroe and everyone else are at level 2 and below.
I agree.
Agree but don't sale ralph to short.
my kind of music
Roy Moss did a rather cool Rockabilly version of this song...I love this version.

He was the King of Bluegrass!
My favorite singer
One of the best
the self styled king of bluegrass mixes in some honky-tonk!!
now that's the man....
Awesomeness❤
He reminds me of my grampa lawkart .
I like this music
Honey You Don't Know My Mind
Honey you don't know my mind I'm lonesome all the time
Born to lose a drifter that's me
You can travel for so long then a rambler's heart goes wrong
Baby you don't know my mind today
Heard the music of a rail slept in every old dirty jail
And life's too short for you to worry me
When I find I can't win I'll be checking out again
Baby you don't know my mind today
I've been a hobo and a tramp my soul has done been stamped
Lord things I know I learned the hard hard way
I ain't here to judge or plea but to give my poor heart ease
Baby you don't know my mind today
Honey you don't know my mind I'm lonesome all the time
Born to lose a drifter that's me
You say I'm sweet and kind I can love you a thousand times
Baby you don't know my mind today
tim a Thank You
I love that!
born to be a drifter>>

A martin
We wear the same ring.......
WTF are those 2 things on his guitar? Anyone?
Those are military award ribbons, but I don't have a clue why he has them on his guitar.
Oh, didn't know that. And that's a good question. Maybe he was in a military band.
Not that I'm aware of. We can only speculate.
I believe it's his name
@@swingmaster02 they are stick on letters that spell Jimmy Martin
This sounds like a missing Fallout New Vegas song
