I have one of these and it is a very fine reel! I also have an Ocean Star No. 36 that you mentioned. This Punch is as fine a vintage reel as you will ever find. The trick is actually finding one as they are getting to be quite rare. I’ve had to wrap the foot of a reel and put it in a vise so I could use both hands to loosen the rotor nut. This was a last resort that was done very carefully. You got lucky with another bearing Dennis. I don’t bang any of my vintage reels with this type of bail closing system. I also just use the bail manually. These Punch Daiwas are just a basic well-designed reel that can outlast all of us if taken care of! Great video Dennis!
@@2ndChanceTackle Dennis, about a year ago I picked up a NOS Daiwa Punch 3150 for a ridiculously cheap price. It is an awesome reel but I haven’t been able to use it fishing yet. That is the problem with a fast growing collection. I don’t go fishing enough to use all of them. I have a number of smaller medium size saltwater reels I just haven’t been able to use: those 2 Maxam reels, 2 Daiwa Silver Series reels 2500C and 4000C, a Ryobi SX4 Silver cloud, Penn 104 and 105, Fury Diamond, and many others including 3 Roddy reels. It’s a good problem to have though. I fixed that Bretton 902 bailed reel yesterday. It is an incredible large saltwater reel that should be great in the surf. Now that I know how to do it I’m going to redo the J C Higgins / Bretton reel and do a better job. That Airex Beachcomber came in and it is really nice. No paint loss and everything works really smooth. I got a beautiful little Cadillac PUM reel today for $4.99. I know nothing about Cadillac reels but it looks quite old. It was PUM so you know I had to have it. I saw a Ru Mer PUM reel and an old Ocean City PUM. I really want the Ocean City reel but it is priced far more than it is worth. I doubt I’ll buy it. I do want to get an Ocean City spinning reels for my collection someday though. I’ll be getting the Penguin / Olympic new in the box reel soon. Did I send a picture of that one? I’m send it just in case I didn’t. I’d love to read your thought on that reel.
Yes it is. I like modern technology, but I also like seeing the inventiveness of the early pioneers and the reels they produced - Thanks for sharing - Dennis
Hi Mr. Dennis do you have the schematics for this reel I own one and the shaft is damage and i need to buy a new one but I need the part number ... thanks for your help and time
@@2ndChanceTackle hi mister Dennis I fix the part is all good now . Question do you Know if some other Daiwa share the same bail as the punch. thanks for your help.

I don't know where to get that one. That is an older reel. I think you will have difficulty finding that part . Thanks for asking - Dennis
