I have 3 I6's and 1 of them I noticed 1 time, returned home and sucked bin 3 times in a row back to back, never knew what that was about but I have never found anything left in any of the bins. Should be getting my J7 tomorrow. I am a die hard I-Robot guy, they have put the time into there product & for that I expect more longevity. Bought my 1st 1 back in 2003 or 04 when they were really not much more than a sweeper, they have come a long way since then. as a quadriplegic guy in a wheelchair, vacuums with a cords are just not something I can use. Also i just noticed since the update, under cleaning preferences they have added room-size clean.

Not terrible. I almost feel like pet hair/human hair helps the robot empty the bin better. My floor always has pet kibble and the bin is always clean. It’s like the hair grabs onto the kibble and takes it with it. If that makes sense.

iRobot empties itself automatically as the sensor determines when it's full. IMO you over filled both of them. As I understand, the restriction of airflow determines when they return to be emptied. A valid test would be to dump measured items on the floor, see how many trips to pick them up & then how much is emptied.

I never thought of that! Good thinking! :)

I have a couple roombas. I only have the tall stack but I noticed it automatically will run 3 times in a row often times when sucking into the bin. It might have a Sensor of sort that has it run several times. It also runs much, much longer than what your edited versions probably are here. I have two dogs so the room a run several hours every day and empty 3 or 4 times. It cleans out dust, pet dander and hair really, really well. I have the i3. My only complaint is that it gets confused on the top of my stairwell sometimes and I come home or wake in the morning to find it stopped there with a “drop off detected” error. Otherwise, it will run the whole top floor of my house and often it will go 2-4 hours, run go empty, recharge and run again until it gets all the hair. It will also go over areas more than once until it is all clean. Really happy with that part of the technology. I cleaned all the sensors and replaced all the parts and it actually ran over 5 hours. So keep your sensors clean and your machine cleaned out. They are smart tech and will run until everything is clean if you use the “clean the whole house” command button.

Yea my j7+ is insanely loud. But, I usually make it vacuum when I am away from home lol. But, I think it is great cus of object avoidance and mapping. So I don’t even have to worry about my vacuum at all when I am away from home.

stress tests when! Also can you include the S7+ in these comparisons, since that’s your current favorite?

Can you compare j7+ with roborock s7+?

My opinion is they are not designed to be totally full maybe 50/60% hence why they have the sensor. Likely need more of an air cyclone in the bin but there’s too much debris in the bin to allow them to be effective. Should maybe do the same test with 50% of the bin filled

I have the s7 and it too is not as effective on a full bin as it is on say half or maybe even 80%. It’s amazing on a daily run with maybe 10/20% full bin

I agree! That's what I was saying when the new Shark was revealed. The bin was jammed up with jellybeans and no vaccum will work optimally with it's bin jammed up period.

    NEW ROBOT!
    From Dyson...
Dyson has released the Dyson 360 Hyperdymium. Here are some things they've improved, haven't added, and removed:
    Things they've improved:
-It is D Shape! It is gonna do better on the edges.
-It is shorter! Now it can go under couches
-It has a soft roller brush! It doesn't appear to be like the Soft roller brushes on regular vacuums. It has a soft brush, but it doesn't have a wide opening.
    Things they STILL haven't added:
-Auto-Emptying dustbin. At this point, an Auto-Emptying dustbin is NECESSARY.
-LiDAR. Still with the Camera system. No change from the 360 heurist.
-A side brush. Yeah, I don't think edge cleaning would be any different...
    Things they REMOVED:
-The tank tracks: Seriously, Dyson? SERIOUSLY?
I hope it is better than the 360 Heurist you tested way back ago. I think deep cleaning is gonna be an issue. We'll see.

@@AdamsReviews I know it doesn't look that Futuristic like the Heurist. It is also a major downer that they removed the Tank Tracks.

Great Video, I've never had an issue with any of the irobot bins when it comes to auto emptying. A lot of it has to do with the dirt detection in the bin.

You should weigh the dustbin before the suction and after to see how much debris is sucked into the auto empty station

You need to put a set weight of debris in each then weigh once completed. Also the robot would return to base to empty way before it was that full due to the debris sensors so you shouldn’t fill the bin as full as you are. Great to see someone comparing these and their functions. My opinion is the J7 is a fancy rework of the i7 doesn’t have the power or carpet cleaning capabilities of the S9. I would expect iRobot to announce a J9 shortly based on the S9 and its power but with the new camera layout and software.

Now do it with all the other self-emptying robots! Including the ROBOROCK S7+, Dreame Z10 Pro, Deebot T8+, Shark AI, the 2 roombas you used (the S9+ and the J7+), Samsung Jet Bot, Neabot, Proscenic, etc.
Just realized the Decibel reader is by tacklife!
Can you Premiere the ROBOROCK s7 vs j7 self empty bin tonight?

Most of these tests done on UA-cam are entertaining, but I really hope they are not 'real world' scenarios for anybody LoL
Real world tests are far more valuable to me when it comes to buying decisions, especially in this price range

Now I'm a little bit disappointed about Roomba auto empty bins. I never had one but it doesn't seem fully effective to have one yet. But I think it may be easier to suck out fine dust. instead of heavy debris. And I really wonder how S7+ will perform on this test.

okay at 10:14 where you are looking at the s9 bin for cotton balls... I really think that's not a good comparison. #1 7's bin is taller #2 s9 is more thinner (Because the j7 mounts its filter on the side and the s9 is on the lid)
if you watch the video, you easily stuffed 10 halved cotton balls into the bin of the j7 because the width of the bin itself was wider than the cotton balls themselves by a lot more than the ones in the s9 had. In your video you can clearly see you STUFFING them into the s9... and easily placing them into the j7. A more reasonable test would have been cotton/polyester batting... that forms to the bin itself!

Do the ecovacs t8 just because it have two openings in the dustbin, that would have been interesting!

Okay... I'm going to say this after 5 mins and 19 seconds. The rice test... Itts clearly a WATTAGE difference only. Its the same hardware... just higher power specs. Put a Kill-a-watt Plug in meter and you will see why its #1 louder and #2 why it pulled more. These systems are the same as they have always been. nothing has changed mechanically speaking. Just more wattage was thrown at it to create more cfms at the base. CLEARLY that is what the S9 did to its actual robot vacuum itself to get the suction power it has over its other counterparts. This is ALSO why the S9's battery life is for shit. They just like to slam power at the problem and repackage the same hardware. Kinda sounds like an AMD product...

I want you to weigh the product you put in... weigh the product left... calculate a % taken out for each... run the suction 3 times weighing the contents further calculating %s taken. Any bin should be completely empty by 3 or just have crumbs hiding in cracks. I think this is the most highly differentiating method you can use.
Just looking in there is not really definitive. Also, A wattage Score along with a decibel score needs to be put into consideration. An overall score should be given. Perhaps also include price points... and what we know so far for replacement parts being needed for robots that have been in service for at least 6+ months of daily service.
This would give you a FORMAT to use against all robots past/present/future. Standardize your testing and you have solid reviews.
Note: other reviewers already do suction tests... so you can use their data in a comparison graph which would show other comparable robots at similar price points. Kind of how "Gamers Nexus" does for its visual graphs when comparing computer parts.
