    Don’t know if you are still active on UA-cam or not, but I would like to thank you. You inspired me to do a frame off restoration on my dad‘s 1974 cub cadet 149. It turned out great and I am really glad I watched all of your videos, they gave me inspiration and confidence. Thank you again, my friend.❤

    $148 and hopefully the next 2 are put together right. I've put the 520-H on hold until we get through hockey season, weekends are jam packed. Nice video buddy... you keep reminding me I need to sit down and practice my guitar!

    I feel your pain on those Cub parts. All 3 of my deck's spindles were luckily just fine...and the thing still cost me a wallet full on just pulleys and springs. Like you say, we'd just be out getting into trouble if it weren't for these little tractors. Great update 500.

    Good job on your video.

    An impact will remove the blade nuts in a heartbeat. Also you can remove the bearings from the (water pump style) spindles you are working on. Simply remove the seal on both ends, and remove the bearing retainers (cages) from both ends. Like you did at approx 3 minutes in to this video. Then take a pick and slide all the ball bearings to one side of the groove. This allows you to push the shaft to the opposite side and remove the balls with a 90 degree pick. Reassembly is reverse order, and it works best to hold the balls in place with grease, then snap the bearing retainer back over the ball bearings..

  • @lukeloader
    @lukeloader 13 років тому

    Had the same problem on one of my decks, actually split the bearing trying to press it apart. At the time you still could by the same bearing setup, but then the two "cup" halves the spindle sets in would be worn enough to let the assembly move around inside it. At least with the new ones the bearings are replaceable. Wonder if there is another mower deck out there that has spindle assemblies that would work on Cub Cadet decks that are serviceable, that you could by used to save some money?

    Good work I wish I had enough money to get things that perfect I only do transmission, motor, and paint perfect but, I can't afford the deck to be that perfect in the past I have been know to wait until the the spindle explodes to replace it.

    "damn expensive hobby" never heard it said more plain! at least you got somethin when youre done for your money. unlike bar hopping or hittin the slots. hey man if you ever get a chance -- no rush --- can you take a shot of your wheelhorse brake rod and brake band set up. i got a similar wheelhorse to yours I'm working on. somone had ripped it apart. And im not sure how the brake band goes on. looks like it could go two ways .
