  • In this series of videos, a staff member of the Rural Community Assistance Partnership (RCAP) explains the technical steps in the process of treating wastewater (sewage) at a treatment plant in layperson’s terms. These videos were produced to assist leaders, board members and other decision-makers of wastewater utilities in small, rural communities in understanding what is involved and what it takes in terms of resources and expertise to treat wastewater for a community from the time it leaves the house or building of a customer to the time it is discharged back into a water body. These leaders can then make more informed decisions about the operations, maintenance, and expansion of their wastewater-treatment infrastructure. These videos are part of a multimedia package and are attached to an animated diagram showing the steps in the treatment process available at rcap.org/animations/index.html

I think I was better off not knowing how our water was treated and all the chemicals that are being put into it not only that are we paying to have it taken care of from our toilet or down the sink but it feels like the money we pay is being laundered as it generates some sort of energy to power the plants and who's to say that just say that all the chlorine is out of the water Put in the stream. I would feel so guilty being a waste treatment operator. I'm glad that you're showing everybody the process I know it's probably not what all of us want to see or hear but it is what it is.

Ha we have the chlorine gas but have tablets Incase of emergency. Our contact tanks are way smaller than yours and a lot older the plant is like 40 years old.

How long time is required for chlorine to remove pathogens in water? How low is the chamber contact?
