  • In this early animated silent film Felix the cat working at a butcher shop joins the army as war has been declared between cats and rats. He asks for his lady cat's hand in marriage and she accepts. On the front lines Felix shoots himself from a cannon into a balloon controlled by the rats and takes control of it. After the general says they need reinforcements Felix radios his butcher employer who sends sausages through the radio. The sausages rush the rat fortress and win the war for the cats. Upon returning home Felix realizes that his lady cat has married his rival but he laughs it off. This film was released in 1922.

Did I just see Felix win a war with rats by leading a troop of sentient hot dogs through a telegraph wire? I think that may be more surreal than anything the Fleischers were doing that year. I like it.

Shouldn't sausages be a German weapon?
With all those dead cats, this is one of the most gruesome cartoons I've seen.

I saw that this was referenced by a book called "Blender 3D Basics" by Gordon Fisher. Nicely done, for a animation from the early 20th century. I wonder how many pictures/frames the animators had to draw just to make this work.

@@196fgyyfuctcucygg Wow, this was from a long time ago. I remember I first read it back in high school, I'm pretty sure around 10th grade. How is the book for you? Is it useful?

@@dibdap2373 Hey, I got a notification. Wow I posted my comment back when I was high school. How's Blender so far for you? And also I'm curious, why are you interested in it?

Multiply the frame per second assuming its 10FPS times the length of the video 10*60*8.41 , that should be the answer.

Why do old films always have digital compression artifacts? The old film is degraded and they make it worse by saving it in 144p potato quality. There should be a project to digitize old films in the best quality possible.
