"Hello officer,
*I'd like to report a triple homicide* "
Technically 5 people died
Someone playing jodah extra turns other people "let's kill a mono green fun deck first"
that's fun to say in heindsight (fuck me how do you spell that) but the "fun" mono green deck was going off hard a-f. one expropriate also doesn't instantly mean the deck is completely stuffed with turn spells, that's just one of those cards that you play because you own it and it would be a waste not to. i would have done something to the mono green player first too, i have seen seton decks, they can go to town.
@@willemboele2079 C'mon, it's Jodah, what were you expecting? Sure, he wouldn't run every single turn spell under the sun but after Expropriate I'd definitely expect him running Nexus of Fate, maybe even Beacon of Tomorrow but definitely Time Stretch. Considering he used his demon to tutor as well, that was horrendous threat assessment from Oliver to focus on the mono green player.
Oliver threat assesment was shameful, it's the only thing I thought the whole game.
Yeah I was really confused why he was targeting Ariel's stuff.
I felt the same way too. The whole time i'm like "why Ariel....", should've countered Chris stuff instead, let Ariel take Chris out of the game, and then go after Ariel since Oliver didn't have much damage on board.
I was going to say so myself, I get Seton +Aluren is dangerous but Chris has shown he is dropping bombs for WUBRG
Absolutely trash plays lmfso
Agreed. I saw the swords to plowshares come out and I was like, oh thank god sheoldred is gone. Oh wait......
Chris’s opening hand is worth more than my parents sold me for on the black market
Aven Mindcensor would’ve been Chris’s until end of turn, so he could’ve used the demon to tutor through his whole deck
Agreed I was wondering why he gave back all his creatures when his turn wasn't finished.
Counter heroic intervention.... I was like : nooooooo ! You forget the jodah player!!!!!! And insurrection... hahaha
Really wanted to see more of Seton, sad to see it go out because Oliver tunneled him the whole game, instead of the player to his left.
It really frustrates me when bad threat assessment knocks out the more interesting decks at the table.
Yep, Seton is so fun to play as! Especially when Paradox Engine was unbanned, and he could actually step into the cEDH scene.
Totally agree. Painful to watch what could have been a great game. Really frustrating to see Andrew not hit the Jodah player's Mox Diamond. Seton was really interesting though. And, I know play mistakes are a thing, but why sac Mirror Entity, instead of E-Wit? He's one of your wincons! At 7:53 he could be swinging w/ four 9/9s, instead of blowing two of his best spells.
“Cause three is bigger than two.”
Me: Counts on fingers
Guys, I think he might be right on this! 😮
That was absurd, I loved it, I always knew Jodah was capable of crazy thing but had never seen it pulled off.
Felt like terrible threat assessment there, when Oliver used a removal and a counterspell to take out the dusk watch recruiter, and left nothing open for Jodah, and Mustah could have swords the Jodah on upkeep or end of Oliver's turn at least, to deny the ability
Yes! Oliver severely messed up, seems like he got tunnel vision on Ariel. Essentially paving the way for Jodah to bash everyone out.
I'll just counter this stupid artifact...turn 4 Expropriate. Womp womp.
yet to find a derevi player with half functioning brain
Yes, talk about huge lack of threat assessment. Seton can be dangerous, but why throw out a counterspell so early for card that Seton doesn't even need. The obvious threat should of been Jodah at the very beginning, and than worry about the others.
Also, that return to dust should've hit both moxen instead of just Oliver's artifacts. Jodah wouldn't have had the 5th color to use the ability. And yeah, that Swords was WAY too late in the turn. I feel like people are blaming Oliver but really Mudstah dropped the ball really hard that turn.
Yo this was a really lackluster game. Oliver's threat assesment was AWFUL. Prejiduce against Jodah aside, Chris was clearly the threat almost from the start, and shouldve been the target of the control. Andrew, you tried man, but Oliver really blew everyone's chances this game. Ariel, i hope to see more of your Seton deck if possible in a future video! Maybe without the cancerous jodah deck and better threat assesment across the board.
Sidenote: Thank you for so many videos this week!
Cancerous, no, i would say "i-have-no-imagination-at-all-jodah".
At least in my playgroup, the only one jodah is fun... (it's a 9CCM tribal deck)
@@LAmanafull6246 Muddstah kept such a slow hand, he was punished for it
how was he the threat from the start exactly? yodah had a sheoldred and a jodah in the command zone, ariel was probably going to either win next turn or win the turn after that. dealing with something on ariel was the safer bet and debatably the right choice. not "AWFUL". still a dumb game, yodah decks like this make me whince a little.
"Oliver" has the letters "E", "V", "I" and "L"... clever disguise, Evil Adam. >:)
lmao
It's odd to think about it now, but I really miss those NJ-players. Just good players w/ good threat assessment. Evil Adam wouldn't have played nearly this badly.
kinda disappointed with the derevi player
feels like he threw this game away with his bad threat assessment and didn't play much around derevi's untap ability (casting spells the wrong order and with straight bad decisions)
you tried andrew, and it's not like jodah is op or anything, it was just bad threat assessment.
love the content as always
Imagine using a sword on a dusk watch recruiter with Sheoldred on the table, than wasting a counterspell with Jodah on the field as well, well played Derevi player....
There were some missed triggers and interesting threat assessments in this one for sure. Moral of the story y'all: DONT LET JODAH LIVE. And if he does, KEEP YOUR COUNTERSPELLS FOR THAT PLAYERS TURN.
edh is truly casual when someone plays a tuned derevi deck and completely ignores a jodah player, that was mind-boggling
This video was very frustrating for me to watch. My play group would NEVER let Jodah stay on the field and do that much work.
It is very frustrating especially when a player has a counter-spell, but uses it on a very low threat when somebody is playing Jodah.
This music made me shed a tear with every spell played
I need that muddstah’s goblin pawn shop playmat in my life!
Umm...quick thing on expropriate: once you start declaring votes, the time to respond has passed. You can’t respond to the votes. Didn’t matter much, just wanted to take note of it.
Thanks for the bonus videos Muddstah!
No Also No Only one way you should be voting anyway. Especially at this point in the game. An extra turn is worth way more than some random do nothing permanent.
@@alphonse2234 Miraris wake
@@alphonse2234 depends on the permanents. You don't want someone to start even one extra turn with something like omniscience.
DarkSteelMenace I was referring to the board state in this video when it was cast.
@@alphonse2234 Your first point sounded pretty general
As a former Jodah player, I'm very confused as to how the game kept going once Chris resolved an Expropriate with Enter the Infinite in hand.
Chris had a lot of fun today.
I love when folks are critical of people's threat assessment. There may be grains of truth in the criticisms but what most fail to see is the human element. Often times I find people will opt for a decision that is personally pleasing rather than a play that could be more optimal. It's easy to see in hindsight when you watch the game in such a condensed format but this isn't the only game they played in that day. There could be other factors that inform someone's decision such as a previous game or a shear flippant preference. Sure mistakes are made, but that's ok!
I once brought a spoon to robot fight that had very similar results
SETON i love him i made a seton deck as a joke and it took off with hydras and draw spells its WILD
We've been so spoiled with the extra games this month. It's gonna be tough come January. Still thanks for the extra holiday games Muddstah!
I know people are ragging on Oliver, so I'll say this.
No one expects a Turn 7 Expropriate, even in Jodah. Countering cards which slow down your game plan is acceptable, and ignoring the combo player's tutor engine to focus spot removal on a generic Goodstuff card would have been a mistake.
Mm. Mm mm mm. That's beautiful. There's just something nice about seeing a pile of basically all the biggest "fuck you" creatures in the game. Three Praetors, some Eldrazi, Maelstrom Wanderer, MORE THAN ONE of those silly, big-ass spirits from Kamigawa, etc. Heck of a board. Ya love to see it.
When Chris casted the Insurrection, he was supposed to gain control of the creatures until end of turn, but he gave them back at the end of combat. Still a good video.
jodah deck is not really fun to play against or even see being played, just a combi of 5 mana highest salt cards
Oliver missed an infinite combo he had due to Aluren at 7:28
Flash in mirror entity and spellseeker at end of turn, but search up something to help you draw or find more cards rather than swords.
Activate mirror entity 80 times for 0, let the first one wipe your board, then re-cast Derevi from the command zone for free with Aluren in response to each of the entity triggers. Use Derevi's untaps for infinite mana, and grab a win-con.
With threat assessment this peculiar, I wonder if some additional context might help the game make more sense.
While watching other gameplay videos where you can hear the players interact, it’s easy to pick up on salt and grudges, etc.
Perhaps including such context in the voice over would help?
I only ever thought of Sevala and Ghalta as cEDH mono green decks, but that Seton is pretty dope •_•
That's because Seton druid tribal is rather obscure, especially after the Paradox Engine ban.
Is there still a list of the Jodah deck? I'm wanting to ride and i liked the lineup, wanted to have a base of the extra turn deck.
SETON!!!! Haven't watched yet, but love it already.
Disappointed, he didn't go off on the Glimpse the way he should have. Looks like he made a few misplays.
i have a jodah deck (now turned into golos) that does exactly the same thing. just playing big spells for unfair amount of mana
Holy Crap.
MTG Muddstah, I really hope you can get that Jodah list up.
I'm really curious to see the rest of that list, it was nothing but gas non stop. Lol.
Also yeah it's rare to see your Trostani deck so that little in a game, you were just kinda there. >_
I can't blame Oliver too much for the threat assessment, he could of been spiteful due to being focused by the other players from the start.
That was nice of Oliver to help Chris win.
Leave Jodah relatively unchecked and he will win games. Definitely deserved more hate this game.
When he played insurrection, he would still have Aven Mindcensor under his control and second main play the demon and search his entire library, or was something left out of the video?
Sheoldred seemed like the more likely target for Swords to Plowshares.
Andrew has removal and doesn't exile jodah at the end of Oliver's turn. Rule of facing commander centric decks is keep the commander off the table if possible. Also might have been worthwhile hitting Chris's mana rock with return to dust to slow him down, it does more than Oliver's signet.
I don't understand why the SpellSeeker was not sacrificed instead of the Entity. Entity is a card that does something when on the battlefield, the seeker is not. Maybe because it can be bounced?
Don't understand why that swords to plowshares didn't go to that sheoldred at 7:42
RIght? I saw that and immediately thought, "well this game is donezo."
lol Olivers turn 5 vindictive play lost the whole table the game
Your Trostani deck made me start building it! ❤️
An aquaintance of mine plays seton (a little bit different list. No combo (we use a point system during our tournaments that makes almost all infinite loops not feasible, together with land destruction and locks), all on permanents + genesis wave and primal surge.
In our casual meta it's stupidly powerful. It's REALLY a great deck is constructed properly.
Definitely felt like a bit of a throw-away game. Jodah was permitted too much time on the battlefield which just let him run away with the whole thing. There was just no interaction with the threat at the table.
Muddstah, did you bring a water pistol to an all out bazooka battle?
HA HA HA, you all but said the same thing at the end of the video. Dude, that was rough.
Whenever I see Jodah, I can't help but hear the CEDH TV guy with his accent saying "Jooadah"
Are you still planning on a conquering your commander - mistform video? Pls do
Gross.
Andrew, thanks for a great year of games and happy new year!
Chris drops Vorinclex
My respect for Chris drops
Coincidence? I think not
What happened with the "Evil Adam"? He played with Derevi and Rakdos deck.
Everyone talking about Oliver, but Andrew could've targeted Chris's Mox diamond to keep him off of WUBRG if he didn't draw a correct land on his next turn. Great game nonetheless!
Nice dining table light!
It seems like I am gonna build Seton
You simply can't leave jodah unchecked
You sound tired, Muddstah. Go easy if you have to, my dude, we'll still be here for the games you post.
Game-wise, I have to feel for Ariel there. Mono-green is very fast, and can draw hate it doesn't deserve thanks to early board position. It really doesn't earn it, though, because of what else it does with all those extra cards and mana. Don't get me wrong, green puts in work, but I'm thinking about what blue needs 10 mana for versus what green needs 10 mana for.
The Derevi player threat assessment was a bit low honestly.
Oliver must hate Ariel. Wasted everything on him.
Holy shit that initial negate gave me an aneurism. Then realizing Oliver has GOD AWFUL threat assessment. This literally reminds me of some of the games I play. You see a Jodah player going off with a sheoldred but you focus a green player. 🙃
I feel like everyone complaining about Oliver's threat assessment are letting perfect knowledge cloud their judgement. Considering what Oliver likely knew about Chris' hand, countering the Thorn and killing the Duskwatch Recruiter were both the correct choice at the time they were made.
everyone who said oliver had bad threat assesment, listen up
yes chris just resolved an expropriate. he took one turn and 3 lands. that's not that scary tbh. it's a "wow that was fast" but not game breaking. oliver probably would have targetted him and should have, but did you see ariel's turn? he played a buttfuck of shit that could easily have put him into a very dominating position next turn, on the other hand oliver just had a sheoldred, which could have taken care of a little of ariel's board. anyone who says that oliver has brain damage has never played against a REALLY good mono-green deck.
...did Chris seriously steal lands when he could have stolen Sylvan Library and Aven Mindcensor?
Also, he controlled the Mindcensor until end of turn thanks to Insurrection, so he wasn't restricted to his top four cards when he cast Rune-Scarred Demon.
Which song plays during the game? It says Holiday Weasel by Kevin MacLeod in your commentary, but it doesn't seem to be the correct song.
Your content's swell as always. Keep it up.
Did Chris return the lands he took when Ariel died?
Seton is a small creature tribal? Interesting
Nice to see my boy Judah wrecking house
So don't play with Oliver... gotcha!
Content duration dec 12 2019 to jan27 2019... earlier this year. Marty, to the time machine
Tragic game for Andrew
That was the kind of game that makes me take a month long hiatus from EDH not gonna lie. That was just not a fun game to watch.
Can we please please please get a deck list from the Jodah
I would like to see Chris’s decklist.
Player of the game was Oliver with that horrible threat assessment, that helped Jodah go off. Look just because you have a counterpell doesn't mean you have to use it right away, no reason to show so much hate on that poor Seton.
the power lvl is going up
Did this game of commander make you depressed or why this choice of music?
Jodah decklist?
Bring back Evil Adam Plz. Up vote I miss his playstyle!
I mean, Jodah is arch enemy level when brought to a casual game.q
I saw derevi and thought evil Adam was making a comeback!
That trostani openi Hans I would have mulligan
Bring back Ariel's and this deck! It was sweet!
Someone should've told Chris about the power level at the table
What abou evil adam ?
Ariel not tapping the Forest in response to it being taken :|
Tough game. Everyone except Andrew really wanted to win.
This game was embarrassing to watch. The moment the Jodah player cast a turn 4 expropriate. The game should've become archenemy against the Jodah player.
Oliver really should of searched cyclonic rift with spellspeaker instead of swords.
Andrew, genuine question - do you tell everyone that the game is going to be recorded beforehand? Because I think the people need to know that the games are for fun, and people shouldn't be bringing their most competitive deck to the field. Like, I'm not even going to watch this video based on Chris' opening hand with Expropriate in it. It's getting so tiresome that people bring $3000 decks to a casual game of edh.
Probably the piles could have been made better, i guess XD
Hell yeah
What a misery of a game. I goddamn hate Jodah as a commander, I hate Expropriate and Time Stretch as spells, and Oliver was noooottt in the right mind for that game, it seems.
Ahh, I see you trying to be sneaky not announcing cracking your Blighted Woodland with an Aven Mindcensor on the field..... *insert deceptive goblin noises*
Didn't really make an impact on the game, though
damn i was hoping evil adam is back
woot!
I missed this intro not gonna lie
why keep such a slow starting hand muddstah? a couple of removal cards, no ramp and 3 lands...that's why you only played 4 spells this game
