Every solo I've heard from this Fredrik Johansson has been nothing short of spectacular, I can't help but wonder why did he record so little music. Especially when you consider how rare such great lead players are in melodeath.
I've never listened to a full record of this band before, i knew there's some jesper stormblad in there (wich for me was the true spirit of in flames, the changes were obvious once gelotte suddenly became a guitar player lol), and i knew that the lead guitarist also is the one who plays the two EXCELLENT solos from december flower (his style is too much different from stormblad's), but i will try them some day. Sorry for putting too much importance to those things rather than your cover wich is by the way absolutely amazing, your tone also is good. Thanks for those amazing covers.
An instance of the holy grail Jester Race tone I didn't know about, and another amazing Fredrik solo I also did not know about. I'll have to learn this right away. I wish I could nail his tone--it's one of those rare cases where a cheap digital lead tone sounds amazing--but I'm afraid the tubes always raise the quality on my tonal attempts no matter what crappy pedal I put in front of my amp. I've been after that tone for 20 years now, my white whale. :( Oh, and great cover by the way. :P
Mr Marcus, what you have to do is use a Roland Cube that's about 10 - 15 years old XD a Metal Zone Boss pedal and a Compression Sustainer Boss pedal recording with a headset mic. XD In addition to that I also fiddle with the EQ a bit in Reaper and maybe add a bit of delay for the leads. That's it! :) I'm of course talking about my attempt of getting as close (or as far) to that 'holy grail' tone. :) How it was originally done I'm sure we'll never know... ;)
It's hard to tell how close you get considering the fidelity of the audio, but yeah, I'm sure the solidstate amp helps. Supposedly IF used Valvetstates for TJR and something similar was probably used on the EP. They also may have used a Boss HM2. I have an HM2 clone, but it doesn't really help me get closer. Closest I've gotten is a tilt equalizer in front of a TS type overdrive (to restore a little bit of the brightness that the tilt EQ bleeds) which I'm pretty sure would get me there if I didn't have my signal ultimately ending at a Mark V...
Marcus Blackfellow Stay tuned if you didn't hate this because I'm doing 2 more songs from TJR right away! And I'm sure you can guess one of them at least. ;)
I bet I can--I found this video through your comment on a December Flower video. :P P.S. first run in it is 3 notes per string, 1 nps, 3 nps, 1nps, not 4 notes per string. Too many covers assume it's 4...
Friend, one question. Is it possible for you to share the guitar solo tab with me? You are very fast and there are fragments that I do not understand. I would appreciate . Greetings from Argentina.
That guitar solo drives me crazy.👌👏👏👏.. Siempre escucho tu cover, muy bueno¡!

If you know of his other works besides this and December Flower please let me know.
@@Encounterpart he was the guitarist of All Ends, a side-band project of jesper, bjorn and his sister
Nice one! One of my fav metal albums ever

Marcus Blackfellow Dude, don't worry - it's going to be note for note clean! ;) Thanks for the advice nevertheless.

Alas, there's no tab. If you want to get it right you need to use your ears, slow things down with Amazing Slow Downer or even here on youtube.
