I love the scene of Komi jumping into the pool with everyone. To her it’s a huge leap in life to start making friends and to everyone else it’s just a little splash in the pool. At least that’s how I took it
I like this as a perspective to Komi, but you could also view it as her friends getting a more nuanced view of her. She’s not a goddess, she’s a totally normal girl. Both work perfectly depending on the view and it’s a GREAT motif

Fun fact: The blue flowers that appear everywhere in this opening are (or might be) bluebells which are the symbol of everlasting love and gratitude. This fits the anime really well tbh Edit: They resemble forget-me-nots way more than blue bells, but at least they have a similar meaning
Pretty sure they are forget-me-nots because of their appearance, and bluebells have a distinct bell shape, hence the name. Though the flowers also lack the buds forget me nots have, but both flowers symbolise similar things.

This may not be everyone's favorite show of the year, but honestly, as someone who is constantly nervous of speaking and struggling to make friends in junior year of high school, I feel like this was just the show I needed. :)
I’ve never heard of this manga. My first exposure was through Netflix and I was intrigued by the concept. I struggled (and continue to battle) with social anxieties and communication difficulties, so it’s refreshing to see the message that anyone can be afflicted by it. I only knew that this anime/manga exists because my cousin opened her netflix on TV and got to watch the first episode the I immediately fell in love with the show and later on went to do some research about only to find out that the manga started 2016 and still ongoing plus the anime adaptation had just been recently released..

Honestly, the most beautiful thing about this intro is the fact that it portrays Komi’s social anxiety as if she were adrift in the ocean of her own mind, and everyone, especially Tadano, is trying to reach her. Absolutely beautiful symbolism.
And in the second intro, it repeats her doing different actions she did in this trailer but more confidently showing her growth in her inner confidence
i genuinely love the anime's take on the manga's animated art style. normally they'd just do the generic modern anime look in the 2010's but this combines the old 90's aesthetic while adding in this modern era of design as an addition. very fucking amazing

I love the first part where she drops from the sky into the high school, it really shows how hard, sudden and scary it is for her. And the impact from the landing isn't just how she feels but how her classmates feel about her... GOD TIER
I got social anxiety during the pandemic, I got so shy after the quarantine regulations started being less strict. It was hard to interact with people, it feels like you're being judged every moment. But this year I am somewhat getting used to normal interactions with people. This show was relatable in so many ways that it brought me to tears.

I know I am late to the party, but I just noticed something interesting At the first half of the OP, you can see that Komi's world (everytime she is in frame) is gray, full of sadness and loneliness whereas outside the classroom that she is in, the world is colorful. That is until the breakthrough moment at 0:53. The determination of fitting in can be seen in her eyes (a brief second of close up shot where her eyes are full of color). She rushes out of that dark classroom and join her friends at the pool. From that point onwards she is not so lonely anymore, and her world has colors again. That is just my analysis. I am a fan of the manga and I'm excited to watch the Anime . But I'm kinda scared to, because as someone who has Social Anxiety myself, I know watching this is gonna hit hard :')

1:19... that shot of them then it turns to the first time they "talk". The chalkboard scene is gonna feel so nostalgic when both the manga and anime end. Knowing that both of them started communicating through writing, as it was the most personal and only viable way to "talk" for these main characters. Both were alone but had eachother, writing on that board to talk to one another. It gives such good vibes when that part hits.
@XiaoHasPity Spoiler: Even in the latest manga chapter they still can't even call each other by their real name. Expect from one scene where Tadano have to call Komi her real name when talking to her dad about her because they all have Komi in their name.
Moral of the story : Be like Tadano, help everyone even if they look mean, even if they scare you even if they seem out of your league just be helpful and kind to everyone

i went into this series blind, and it has become one of my most favorite shows/media i've ever seen (and i don't even watch that much anime) i just love its charm, i love the characters, i love the story. the way this show just is, is just amazing! its like almost everything i've ever wanted from a show. and also its a really nice show about social axienty and i recommend watching this. my only problem is that there are no more episodes i've been absolutely devastated that nothing about a season 3 has come out or mentioned and i've only been waiting for like 4 weeks, i can't imagine how much pain the fans who have been waiting 2 years feel. i can tell this anime must have took A LOT of time to make, so i suppose the wait for more makes sense. plus all the dubs i love this series and i really hope we get a new season soon. i love this show so much! OLM studios please give it to us soon, im on my knees rn bro 🙏🙏🙏
I can listen to this song forever. This is one of my favourite anime’s. I like how it is more slow-paced, versus all the “fantasy action-packed adventures” I usually watch. It is really cute and it sends a nice message.
All my life, I’ve hardly ever seen characters in media that I could genuinely relate to. So when I discovered this show and realized the main character was finally one I could heavily relate to in so many ways, I literally cried. It’s always going to hold a special place in my heart ❤️

This first season really hits different once you actually read the whole thing. It’s so mind blowing that this series and these characters have come so far. To think that this all started with a normal boy and a socially awkward and friendless girl who can only communicate though a notebook is so mind blowing when you look at how they are now
The comments here made me read the manga after I watched episode 6. And all I gotta say is that yes, Komi is the main protagonist (I mean her name is literally the title) But other than this show about Komi trying to make friends, Its also about how Tadano is standing out as himself. Tadano is always described as an ordinary and average guy by everyone. This series soon progress as everyone sees how he's different from ordinary. In the anime, he can "read minds" but it goes on to how observant and perceptive he is with people's feelings and emotions (surprising how he's so clueless about romantic feelings tho). He basically try his best as a president, friend and classmate. For slight manga spoilers, his classmates start to see that too, heck they even support him by silently shipping him with Komi. This post might sound like a Tadano appreciation post, but it is. Chadano deserves the world😭😭

Its just a retelling of every romance anime under the sun except the twist is that the girl has communication problems and acts like a child so im guessing she's braindead (before you try saying "just because she has communication problems doesn't mean she is braindead" don't because i know but her acting like a child is what makes her braindead. There is a scene where she plays on a playground. Even her normal behavior is that of a child. Jumping around like a little kid for trying to make friends. Its going through the school days phases except without the cheating and murder.

the flowers used in the opening are forget me nots. i think it’s really cool symbolism for how everyone who goes to this school is an eccentric and how they don’t want to be etched away by conforming to societal norms; and it especially connects with komi because since she has trouble both speaking and socializing; it’d be natural for her to be forgotten as communication is one of those societal norms
This was an absolute banger of a show, the visuals looked nice, the characters where cool (Najimi best character), and the comedy in my opinion was pretty good. This show also introduced me to j-pop! Never watched anime before but I'm glad I gave this a try.
I especially love how the intro specifically uses blue petals instead of the usual cherry blossom pink then very aptly revealing them to be Forget-Me-Not flowers later on
Please- this anime was amazing! I loved the story line and relate to Komi so much. Public speaking is definitely hard so I’m glad she is taking a leap of faith with the help of her friends. If anyone is considering watching this anime DO IT! I promise you won’t regret it.

It's not just the graphic of the OP, the music itself is really good. It's catchy, fun, and i think it represents about our youth should be, full of love, fun moments, and amazing stories with friends.
And by contrast it shows the reality and how hard it is to make friends especially on Komi san’s part, she is shown as having no friends staring out the window at the rain until tadano befriends her, making her stopped time begin to move again
I can't be the only person here that is amazed at how well Netflix is doing with anime. Every other major streaming anime platform isn't bringing the shows we constantly ask for. But here's Netflix, just randomly giving them to us and also making shows with high quality to them. Keep going down this road, Netflix, and you'll do great.
Bruh what streaming platforms are you looking at? Crunchyroll always gets new animes the day they're out, Netflix doesn't get them until weeks or months later and sometimes it's missing whole seasons, this anime is just only on Netflix cuz they paid for it but other streaming platforms could have had it way earlier
Netflix isn't doing anything for this anime. Give the props to where they belong which is the fansubs properly subtitling the episodes, and OLM, the studio putting so much work and effort into this marvelous job. All netflix is doing is distributing episodes, and it's EN side of things is doing a piss-poor job of bringing the proper work done for the episodes. I really hope Netflix doesn't decide to drop this after a season like they do all their other popular shows just to have to wait for the right service to pick it up.
Honestly the best part about this opening is the chalkboard scene from episode one. This scene brought tears to my eyes and I absolutely adore this series. Watching the growth of both Komi and Tadano in a school full of loveable oddballs is wholesome, heartwarming and wonderful.❤❤❤

I got social anxiety during the pandemic, I got so shy after the quarantine regulations started being less strict. It was hard to interact with people, it feels like you're being judged every moment. But this year I am somewhat getting used to normal interactions with people.
This show was relatable in so many ways that it brought me to tears.

I know I am late to the party, but I just noticed something interesting
At the first half of the OP, you can see that Komi's world (everytime she is in frame) is gray, full of sadness and loneliness whereas outside the classroom that she is in, the world is colorful.
That is until the breakthrough moment at 0:53. The determination of fitting in can be seen in her eyes (a brief second of close up shot where her eyes are full of color). She rushes out of that dark classroom and join her friends at the pool. From that point onwards she is not so lonely anymore, and her world has colors again.
That is just my analysis. I am a fan of the manga and I'm excited to watch the Anime . But I'm kinda scared to, because as someone who has Social Anxiety myself, I know watching this is gonna hit hard :')

1:19... that shot of them then it turns to the first time they "talk". The chalkboard scene is gonna feel so nostalgic when both the manga and anime end. Knowing that both of them started communicating through writing, as it was the most personal and only viable way to "talk" for these main characters. Both were alone but had eachother, writing on that board to talk to one another. It gives such good vibes when that part hits.

i went into this series blind, and it has become one of my most favorite shows/media i've ever seen (and i don't even watch that much anime)
i just love its charm, i love the characters, i love the story. the way this show just is, is just amazing!
its like almost everything i've ever wanted from a show. and also its a really nice show about social axienty and i recommend watching this.
my only problem is that there are no more episodes
i've been absolutely devastated that nothing about a season 3 has come out or mentioned
and i've only been waiting for like 4 weeks, i can't imagine how much pain the fans who have been waiting 2 years feel.

I can listen to this song forever. This is one of my favourite anime’s. I like how it is more slow-paced, versus all the “fantasy action-packed adventures” I usually watch. It is really cute and it sends a nice message.

The comments here made me read the manga after I watched episode 6. And all I gotta say is that yes, Komi is the main protagonist (I mean her name is literally the title) But other than this show about Komi trying to make friends, Its also about how Tadano is standing out as himself. Tadano is always described as an ordinary and average guy by everyone. This series soon progress as everyone sees how he's different from ordinary. In the anime, he can "read minds" but it goes on to how observant and perceptive he is with people's feelings and emotions (surprising how he's so clueless about romantic feelings tho). He basically try his best as a president, friend and classmate. For slight manga spoilers, his classmates start to see that too, heck they even support him by silently shipping him with Komi. This post might sound like a Tadano appreciation post, but it is. Chadano deserves the world😭😭

@Nigward Testicles not like any of the characters are really worth talking about. Its like trying to talk about school days characters. There are no "arcs" in these type of anime. That stuff reserved for better anime. You know the ones everyone has already watched a million times.

I said that she's is braindead because she acts like a literal child. There is a scene where she plays on a playground. Even her normal behavior is that of a child. the flowers used in the opening are forget me nots. i think it’s really cool symbolism for how everyone who goes to this school is an eccentric and how they don’t want to be etched away by conforming to societal norms; and it especially connects with komi because since she has trouble both speaking and socializing; it’d be natural for her to be forgotten as communication is one of those societal norms

Please- this anime was amazing! I loved the story line and relate to Komi so much. Public speaking is definitely hard so I’m glad she is taking a leap of faith with the help of her friends. If anyone is considering watching this anime DO IT! I promise you won’t regret it.

It's not just the graphic of the OP, the music itself is really good. It's catchy, fun, and i think it represents about our youth should be, full of love, fun moments, and amazing stories with friends.
And by contrast it shows the reality and how hard it is to make friends especially on Komi san’s part, she is shown as having no friends staring out the window at the rain until tadano befriends her, making her stopped time begin to move again

Every other major streaming anime platform isn't bringing the shows we constantly ask for. But here's Netflix, just randomly giving them to us and also making shows with high quality to them.

Bruh what streaming platforms are you looking at? Crunchyroll always gets new animes the day they're out, Netflix doesn't get them until weeks or months later and sometimes it's missing whole seasons, this anime is just only on Netflix cuz they paid for it but other streaming platforms could have had it way earlier

Netflix isn't doing anything for this anime. Give the props to where they belong which is the fansubs properly subtitling the episodes, and OLM, the studio putting so much work and effort into this marvelous job. All netflix is doing is distributing episodes, and it's EN side of things is doing a piss-poor job of bringing the proper work done for the episodes. I really hope Netflix doesn't decide to drop this after a season like they do all their other popular shows just to have to wait for the right service to pick it up.

Honestly the best part about this opening is the chalkboard scene from episode one. This scene brought tears to my eyes and I absolutely adore this series. Watching the growth of both Komi and Tadano in a school full of loveable oddballs is wholesome, heartwarming and wonderful.❤❤❤
