9 years, forged with experience and time, you just can't rush art.
This is why more bands should stop focusing on releasing more music periodically, and focus on creating true pieces of art that will last for way longer than the time it took to create them.
I totally agree, when bands take the time and effort to create their music, they mature as artists and release truly transcendental material.
Yup cant agree more. I dont trust bands who release yearly, let alone multiple times in a year..

I disagree with your second statement for one main reason: people do "art" for very different reasons. If you take your time to carefully craft an album, only for it to get like 25k views on youtube and 8k listeners on spotify, then you are most likely not doing it for the money and have a different source of income to sustain yourself. Bands that constantly release albums most likely consider their music a significant source of income, and can't keep going when they have not released anything other than a black metal album 9 years ago.
Some people say this is 2023 best bm this is bm of the decade.
Between this and their 2014 release, I might argue the best in our lifetimes

yes 2023 had few worthwhile albums, namely the Abigor, Thy Darkened Shade, Xalpen, Infernal Execrator. Asagraum , NekrokristSS split and Sacrilegious Impalement albums were pretty cool but at the same time nothing special. Ofermod / Black Altar / Acherontas (AXEPONTAZ now or whatever) split had some strong songs but had a lot to live up to. Daemonian album was solid, much better than the first one anyway. as far as death metal goes the Burial Hordes album and Malicious EP were worthwhile but the Thanatomass was a disappointment. the bombastic black metal polish band, Manbryne was too overblown even for a band that seems to be trying to continue the atmosphere of behemoth the satanist.
so this is not even 5-10 good ones for all of 2023, and most of them were just not very special but I'll take what I can get. A year with a handful of releases to settle for since it was such a drought. 2024 should be better musically, it has to be.

Complex, daring and extremely unconventional, progression of bar structures inside and out of sections. Even if im used to their sound, i still find it hard to wrap my head around their technical sections. Im in complete awe

One of the things I love about TDS is that it sounds more powerful with each new listening. Such a masterpiece!
Didn't want to say any comment until multiple listens. My first impression was right, when they hit the first riff. They articulated their playing skills, which were kinda exaggerated in their previous works. This is the definition of how musicians evolve into something truly magnificent. So complex and well brought to execution on so many levels. Big like and respect.
They learn their craft very well, AMAZING album!

This is actually 100% modern Black Metal, but with more technical prowess. Still, in total this is a lot closer to other releases of 2017-2023 than to the time before.

@tobiasheinrich104 100% modern? This band as a whole and this release has more 80s heavy-black-death-thrash influences than almost most of the modern nowdays Black Metal bands. It maybe sounds "modern" to you since they are doing it through their own filters.

Have just listened to both albums back to back and it's a fantastic experience. For some reason I missed that the Liber Lvcifer II had been released. But I am just as happy to enjoy it on a good friday 13th as any aother day. Master piece!!

Not only the full lenghts but also the splits. All of them are beyond fantastic, i cant even pick the few best ones. Semjazas interviews are so good too, the band is just so crazy. The first album has probably the best full on thrash metal riffs i ever heard

Both LL albums are great but I think the debut is my still favorite by a hair. I love the intensity although I'm not a big fan of trash/black. @@sonofnothing2714
First of all we are talking about a bestial album here inspired from stimulus of unknown worlds. The bass in 30:30-31:00 (while not complex at all) is one of the most interesting bass approaches I've ever heard in black metal.

Thats right. Semjaza is deep in understanding and clear of how to phrase and embellish. He does foreshadowing kind of frequently if you know what youre looking for, sometimes even the bass or the drums make the first move. Its just so crazy man… i keep getting constantly mindblown no matter how much times i listen to their compositions
Yep I got hooked after 2nd time listening to Liber Lvcifer I back in 2015 and it's still very efficient after hundreds of times listening to it same for this one he's a genius the same level that Dan Swanö was with Edge of Sanity's 3d 4th and 5th albums. I wish I could compose like these guys

Several suns to demolish cosmos
As we approach the first anniversary of this album, I have to say that I'm enjoying this one more than the previous one. Don't get me wrong, Khem Sedjet is an outstanding album. I love 9 out of 11 tracks on the previous one, but this one and the debut feel more compact and flow more seamlessly. I don't get tired of listening to these two opuses from beginning to end day after day. Anyhow, eternal hails to Semjaza and The A!
I prefer liber lvcifer I because its more abrupt. No matter how many times i listen to transitions and all the little details regarding the composition, i cant understand it fully yet even after listening to semjaza since 2019. It sounds way more sinister but the playful aspect is not so bright in how the structure is understood. khem sedjet works for me like nothing else in this world. But i prefer the vocal on mahapralaya

I can't wait for people on ultimate guitar to tab these songs (but especially those on Liber Lvcifer I) for guitar pro. I tried sequencing Revival Through Arcane Skins but the very first riff is such an enigma (probably due to its extremely original nature)

Just finished listening to it and I have to admit that I like it far less than previous two albums. But I'm definitely going to give this more tries.
I felt the same. What you think of it now. I still prefer khem sedjet, but i really like this one and its growing on me rapidly. Its the sound they had in 2017 split with abigor, nightbringer and mortuus. If khem sedjet is 100/100, then all of their other releases are 99.9/100, if not just a tiny bit more

Sounds like ved buens ende, emperor and opeth mixed together.
With the prominence of bass & the melodic backbone, I can see the Ved Buens Ende resemblance, but no Opeth in here.
Closer to a more technical elaboration of the likes of S.V.E.S.T., Blasphemer-era Mayhem, post-90's Abigor & Anthems-era Emperor to my ears.
In the end, Thy Darkened Shade did succeed on making an idiosyncratic sound with their unique identity.
