I watched this a few times and the first time I thought Mrs. Obama was going to say something in high support of Meghan. The next few times I watched it, I could see how measured and in the middle she was staying and making basically three statements, all of which are true: One, that racism has always been in the construct of people of color and as such Meghan should basically have expected it. Two, public service is about the others that are served, so Meghan should hopefully focus on these others. Three, first and foremost it should be about family. In other words, perhaps there was another way to voice unhappiness without outwardly attacking her own and her husband's family. Mrs. Obama never said anything critical, but rather, took a higher road approach.

Love Michelle Obama's comment about the Meghan Markle interview. The focus on family was completely tossed out the door. How do you repair your family after such interview. I wish Meghan Markle would have taken her Mother's posture of "Dignified Silence" I wish she had taken Michelle Obama's advise to her in 2018 or 19 when Michelle suggested she take it easy and not take on so much so soon. Michelle Obama was First Lady for 8 years, she lived through a lot of negative racist comments. She never sued anyone, she never reached out to companies to get people fired or censor their speech. She understood that as First Lady she had power but she chose not to use that power to sue anyone or file complaints to get people fired or get their speech censored. She remained dignified and focus on the job at hand. As Michelle Obama said "when they go low, we go high". Michelle Obama took the high road she did not allow the negativity to control her actions or dictate her choices. While Oprah was great in her interview, it seems the interview will be detrimental to the Sussexes and to their children over time. Doing such interview while pregnant after a miscarriage. Was that a good decision? Not sure! I am sure it is very stressful after this interview. Overtime Harry will eventually feel isolated, controlled and alone. Family is truly important no matter how rich or how famous one becomes. They have alienated Meghan's family and now they have also alienated Harry's family. Michelle hit the mark again. Meghan Markle lost site of the fact that as a "Senior Royal" her job was to serve the people of England not to serve herself or her need for living a luxurious and glamorous life. She forgot. that. Harry's role is to support his brother who will be King one day. and her role was to support Kate who will become Queen Consort. She wanted to be the leading lady when her role was to be be supporting actress.
I think michelle is wrong. The royal family have NOTHING to do with politics. They dont make any decisions. They're simply there to be there. Michelle obama and the royals are absolutely different.

Michelle is super intelligent woman with excellent political and communication skills and knows what it means to be a public servant, she knows it is not about selfishness. Her response was what any intelligent political figure with knowledge beyond ¨Hollywood¨should give. She expressed what she thinks in a very polite manner and the call to action ¨this is a family¨and ¨pray for healing¨was the best touch.
Talking about racism .. no one was more critized , made fun of like Michelle. But she built tough skin and never let the noise distract her. She stayed focus and continued her public service.. love this woman.
So well expressed. The media was brutal, and frankly she dealt with far more criticism than Meghan, but Clearly, Michelle had the inner wisdom and strength to overlook the negativity and rise above it. @The Conclusion what a crock. Can you imagine how the royalists, racists and fairy tale believers would have reacted if they had named and shamed. They spoke their truth publicly, quite rightly, because they were flogged publicly. It is not their responsibility, it is the responsibility of the person or persons that were concerned about what colour skin an unborn child would be, to listen, learn, acknowledge, apologise, make amends and admit their wrong doing, publicly. It would seem they and the British racists are still going down the route of denial and keeping that stiff upper lip, pathetically believing they're still the great British empire that can do no wrong because they're better than anyone else. By the way, I'm white British
@Queen Nita The British people are capable of using their powers of discernment! The initial response to Harry’s engagement was to welcome Meghan and she received a happy reception. It was only when news came out that Meghan was estranged from her family and ignored her father without issuing a public statement that got the media saying it came across as heartless. This woman constantly talks about kindness and humility yet showed no empathy to a man who supported her all her upbringing when he was undergoing a heart operation. Then news spread like wildfire about her diva antics and belittling staff. Meghan has problems with everyone starting from her fathers side of the family and her mothers (she did not invite anyone else to the wedding except Doria), she had problems with her ex husband’s family and that relationship ended abruptly with her ring FedExd to him (who does that?). Everyone guessed she would throw in the towel and go back to Hollywood. Meghan is using Harry and soon she will take him to the cleaners.
@Queen Nita I don’t even read the papers, nor do I watch TV. I have formed an opinion even so. You might be fed up of the Brits perspective, but she’s pretty much trashed us. Today I took someone’s post of seemingly racist headlines. I searched for each one and each article wasn’t racist. There was one saying Harry has gone to the dark side. When you read the body of the text, it’s referring to his previous seeming love of blondes and that he’s now gone for a brunette. It actually says ‘brunette’. The ‘worst’’ one mentions where she came from (her mother’s area, I think). It mentions gang violence in that area. It doesn’t mention race. Now it was a stupid article because you can’t help where your parents bring you up, but it wasn’t picking on her race. I don’t really want to get into a debate about the interview itself, but there are quite a few things that can be debunked.
Meghan grew up with her dad, Doria was not there when she was growing up. Meghan went to a private school.....I never knew she was black until recently.
The Royal family shouldn't need to opologise. Miss Markle could not stop telling the British people she was a Black woman. They/we didnt notice her colour. She was determined to make it an issue. Britain is not America.

In a very polite, diplomatic way, Michelle brought attention to the real issue when dealing with Meghan. Meghan Markle is a narcissistic person who needs to be the center of attention at all times. It’s always about Meghan and what makes her look good in public. Unfortunately, for Markle, a large percentage of the public has seen past her facade and rejected her.
I’m not sure why Michelle was even asked to weigh in on this ridiculous issue. It’d be like asking her about the Kardashians. What a strange topic, but as usual she was able to navigate it with perfect class and diplomacy.
It was great to see how Michelle did not take a side. Basically, take care of your problem in private.

Agreed. They both respect the Queen and know it will be handled but also know - that racism is some bs. EXACTLY!
The Queen has served her country for over 7 decades, she is wise and gracious and Michelle Obama is too....
She is not weighing in she is criticizing her. Being in public service is not about „me“ it’s about serving the people.
She did not criticise Meghan , she spoke on anyone doing a public service . Chucky and princess Diana both did television interviews and wrote books about their lives under the monarchal institution .
If you think that is criticism, what do you think calling a wedding taxpayers gifted you for $3 million dollars a "spectacle" is?
@ilovebeinagirl It was 42.8 Million Dollars! She's such a Parasite!
The spectacle cost about £24 million. Charles paid for wedding dress too. Plus £1 million for her annual wardrobe. She must have cried 'poverty ' to KC.
Your interpretation
The thing that stands out to me about Meghan Markle is the disconnect between what she says and what she does. She has said serving others is her goal yet she has spent considerable time and energy since marrying Prince Harry telling us how difficult her life is. She is not actually serving others in any meaningful way. Additionally, perhaps Harry and Meghan should seek private counseling to work through and eventually resolve and heal their issues--instead of imposing them on all of us on national television.
More like international television*
What or who exactly has Markle served or done for anyone!?! Nothing but line her own pockets.
@Tanya Gross: There is a disconnect because Markle does not have a sincere or caring bone in her body. She cares about NO ONE. (Other than herself.) Everything she spouts is complete garbage, untrue, and nothing she ever, ever plans on meaningfully pursuing. (Unless it involves money for HER.)
Sounds like everyone here is buying into UK media. She has done plenty (name a few: empowered girls, helped in water project in Rwanda, helped homeless in LA before and after with Harry, helped feed elderly and sick with covid, helped families in Australia by buying many homemade beanies, and more😉). Do some research.
@@mariev6108 right? But from the looks of the comments it’s mostly Americans who love Meghan and Harry then the UKs hating them 😅 and they won’t look up the things she’s done or then they’d be proving themselves wrong but instead theyd rather hear the media speak negatively. We have the ability to evoke positive changes within ourselves and our communities, and have the power to change the mindset of others through intelligence, knowledge, wisdom, experience and class. We need more women like Michelle 👍
@@josephineicuka-asumo2570 could not agree more ...
Michelle got it right , it’s serves to others. Something Rachel didn’t want too!
She curved that 1st question hard 😂😂😂
@Queen Nita "No offense but...It seems Brits follow hard after tabloid gossip that they don’t seem to have the ability to reason for themselves. They take everything printed in the Mirror and Daily Mail or some royal expert or anonymous palace source as facts." > dude that's so degrading, did you literally just generalize the british population by reducing them to people who blindly believe tabloid rubbish, all the while portraying americans as more intelligent for being able to "expect tabloids to lie for entertainment purposes only"?
you can't start a sentence with "no offense" and proceed to say such offensive things ((: but peace!
@Queen Nita Imagine demanding that the head of the state should silence the press. In a democracy. Really America? The land of the free!
Wow! I have tremendous respect for Michelle! Long and short of her answer "this was a private matter you should have dealt with it privately!"
I have never respected Michele Obama more than in this moment
Meghan grew up with her dad, Doria was not there when she was growing up. Meghan went to a private school.....I never knew she was black until recently.
The Royal family shouldn't need to opologise. Miss Markle could not stop telling the British people she was a Black woman. They/we didnt notice her colour. She was determined to make it an issue. Britain is not America.
Agree although I don’t think Michelle was suggesting an apology was needed, rather forgiveness within the whole family I think
Britain is a racist country too
Markle used the race card to extract herself from public duty for lucrative media deals
I’m sorry they’re trying to tangle her in this Diva’s cry for attention.
Ah! Mrs. Obama, finally the best answer I've heard. I couldn't imagine a more honest, naked and articulate answer to the Meghan question. It is so reading to see that sensitivity and intelligence can cohabitate so brilliantly. Thank you.
Hard to forget or forgive the lies, the attack on the Queen's family as they lost the life long service of prince phillip.
People just tuning in to laugh at m
In a very polite, diplomatic way, Michelle brought attention to the real issue when dealing with Meghan. Meghan Markle is a narcissistic person who needs to be the center of attention at all times. It’s always about Meghan and what makes her look good in public. Unfortunately, for Markle, a large percentage of the public has seen past her facade and rejected her.
Michelle's like, "I TOLD YOU when they go low, we go high!"
😉😉😉😉😉
I’ll be the first to say I’m not the biggest fan of Michelle...or her husband. However I applaud her response to this. Impressive!
Shes educated, charismatic and she didnt shy away from sharing her honest opinion. I like her too.
Who asked if you're a fan???? Don't comment!
Baca World: I am sure that the Obamas do not care whether ot not you are a fan. Your opinion of them is really of no moment.
Really was it necessary for you to state you not fan ?lol 😆 you r fan babes
Agreed!
I’m not sure why Michelle was even asked to weigh in on this ridiculous issue. It’d be like asking her about the Kardashians. What a strange topic, but as usual she was able to navigate it with perfect class and diplomacy.
Michelle Obama really showed her class here. Years later, this interview is gold.
What interview ?
