My dad put his studio headphones on my mother's stomach while she was pregnant with me. He mostly played Savatage through them. Once I was born, he would play this song through his speakers and I would fall right asleep. Been a metalhead ever since.
This band in my opinion never got the respect they deserved. Chriss was such an amazing guitarist. He should have been on guitar magazine covers as awesome as he played.

I wish they did a few more things where they both sang on songs as they started doing these multiple voice choir sort of thing and it would have made sense to have jon be some of the vocals instead of layering Zak over and over plus they could do this live.
He would have definitely transcended the "80's Metal" tag that took out many great pre-Grunge guitar players. Would likely STILL be making great music in Savage today, had he lived.
This band became an absolute force, when they added Zac on vocals. Jon is a great singer but there's a loss of...cohesiveness with the style he uses. I saw them in 1988 on the Hall of the Mountain King tour. Great band! Those vocals were just not palatable to a 19 year old MetalHead. My brain was not ready for "prog' yet, I guess.
Such an incredible band, with a huge amount of talent. They went beyond music. Savatage wrote so many emotional songs, good riffs, great solos, fantastic melodies and deep lyrics. Their music always gave me goosebumps and it's a shame they did not became that successful.

I was in high school, in the early 2000's, when I listened to Edge Thorns for the very first time. My friends used to sugest some heavy metal songs writing in the back of my school book during the school classes, to download in mp3. I was initiating in heavy metal world. "Edge Of Thorns"
An offering of reasons
We put them all in play
A covering of treasons
That one by one we let slip away
A solitary dancer
So lost upon her stage
I have seen you on the edge of dawn
Felt you there before you were born
Balanced your dreams upon the edge of thorns
But I don't think about you anymore
A study made from winter
Of summers long ago
And dreams that used to glitter
Safely now hidden under snow
And so we end the chapter
And let the stage lights fade
I have seen you on the edge of dawn
Felt you there before you were born
Balanced your dreams upon the edge of thorns
But I don't think about you anymore
I have seen you on the edge of dawn
Felt you there before you were born
Balanced your dreams upon the edge of thorns
But I don't think about you anymore

Those of us who know "DAMN GOOD MUSIC" when we hear it!!! We're not into what is in with the "POPULAR BULLSHIT" that people like you are!!! In other words, we enjoy talent, not keeping up with the jones's, or the with the "IN CROWD"!!! Fucking "DUUUHHHHHH"!!! Ernie Wilber And this is one of the most talented and professional bands ever, whether the original members, or the other various lineups due to some health issues with some, or even the very sad passing of Criss Oliva!!! Ernie Wilber 🤘👹🤘✌️
“Thank you!! And now for our last song of the night. A song about someone I don’t think about anymore.”
I don't think about you anymore... I'll just write you this song.
Haha
Haha. Well he wasn't until someone asked "How's Stephanie" and so he realized she was dead to him and wrote the song. Maybe?
obviously it's from the perspective of a person in denial
@@michaelhudson2912 I think we all know that.
@@SouthernSkeptic Damn you Southern Skeptic, I've grown weary of your skepticism but I can't resist your southern charm
Rest In Peace Chris your tone and talent are well respected
What a song! Magnificient intro and guitar solos, impressive vocals... Fully "ear"gasm!
This is the best guitar solo since 1993
Such a great/powerful song! That whammy squeal during the solo, love it: 4:00
One of my biggest inspirations, still love playing along with some of the greatest
A nice song of Savatage! The best north american metal band!
One of my fav tracks...OUTSTANDING 🎸🇬🇧🤘
Classic!
Классная песня, суперальбом, прекрасная группа. Жаль, что уже не будет такой виртуозной игры на гитаре Криса Оливы.
