Snowmobiles are a thing of the past. There are some around still but not as popular like they were in the 70's. Where I lived we see any way 50-60 in one group. Did not matter in the middle of the week or weekend. I counted upwards almost 100 snowmobiles.
Although there is no official consensus, most experts agree that an item is considered vintage if it is between 20 and 99 years old. Your sled is "Vintage."

Those old sleds were very hard to start and they got stuck real easy!
I love the Chaparrals too. Ours is long gone but I will never forget how it sounded like it was going a million miles an hour.
In the early to mid 1970s my dad had two Johnson snowmobiles . A skee horse and a golden ghost with reverse!
Vintage sleds are the best!

It has changed. From transportation that's fun even without a destination, to big pieces of junk only usable in mountains.
Please don't call the stub nosed ski-doo vintage. I still use my 1966 ski-doo in Alaska.
