Hi Cameron, Brilliant vids! Some pointers for future builds:
    a) Al does not mix with steel/brass etc., that brassy finish will cause corrosion due to the dissimilar metals. Mild steel is similar though the colour is less obvious to the eye. Scotchbrite and Stainless is best for surface cleaning and for best finish use buffer attachments and metal polishing soaps or pastes.
    b) when refitting the bearings heating the casing and freezing the bearings is fine, but don't use the freeze spray near the casing.. If you accidentally hit the hot casing with the spray it will cause granular cracking in the cast aluminium. You won't see it but it will give future problems with strength and corrosion.
    c) Given the size of the casings, it should be enough to heat the case in the oven only by the way, but drop the bearings in as soon as it comes out of the oven. This may be impacted by the number of bearings. Reheating will loosen the bearings already placed due to the rate of expansions between Fe and Al metals. What you can do is make a sandbox to hold the casing and heat the both. This will retain the heat a lot longer giving you the time you need.
    d) Get a sheet of plate glass and engineers blue to check flatness before assembly where mating flat surfaces is important. Better still an engineers surface table.
I'm a 63 yr old dinosaur who did an aircraft apprenticeship before the days of assembly exchange rather than fixing it. All too often I come across "professional" engineers who are limited by a belief that you only replace and return assemblies; you must not delve into the inner workings. It's great to see you getting stuck in to the deeper nuts and bolts. Even more so as following your voyage of discovery from mishaps brings a real world level people can relate to. Hopefully more people will get stuck in based on your example. As you've said when completing a section, "it's easier than you'd think".
Best of luck for your future, despite your hurdles you've got a great attitude.

One thing to remember is some times when you replace the pads, lines and caliper seals you can bleed the brakes and it's still going to feel spongy until the brakes are bedded in. I've had that happen to road bikes it might not be the same on single disc systems but just a tip for anyone who might be struggling. I also use a wet rag as it stops the fluid ruining paint. Great video and very clear instructions, happy New year and hope to see more progress soon :)

  • @Rommelicious1

Great looking build. I can't help but to comment on the way you bleed the brakes. As a car mechanic, i've bled the brakes on maybe a thousand cars and in doing so I learned a thing or two. The way you fill the system up from the bleed screw to the master cilinder and then pumping it back out through the bleed screw, you're first pushing the air up, only to pump it back down. The risk in this is that you trap air in the caliper as they are meant to be bled pumping fluid through from the master to the caliper, the bleed screw is located on the top of the caliper to make sure no air can stay in the system. Now, I understand that you dont want to pump 50 times to bleed it. If you fill the master and open the bleed screw, gravity will bleed 95% of the brake as the fluid travels down through the system more easily than the air travels up the system through the fluid. Therefor, if you open the bleed screw and wait for the fluid to come out and then pump it once or twice with the screw open, you will 9/10 times have bled the brake already. On the 1/10 times this doesn't quite do it, close the screw, put pressure on it and open screw like normal. Do this once or twice and it's definately bled. It becomes tricky when you have ABS systems that you have to electronically unlock but that's not an issue on dirt bikes. Get well soon!

Cameron... tbh I’ve been subscribed for like almost a year now. I never actually watched your videos tho, seemed really boring to me. But then when I was so bored, I actually watched one of your videos and instantly watched almost all your videos (yep, even the old ones) I admire you and love how you put so much detail into your work. Still kinda thought you were a douchebag tho. But when I saw that you were hookin other people up with stuff, I felt like you deserve wayyyyy more than 150K subs. Like I see you comment everywhere, yet you just aren’t getting big for some reason. THEN, when you got cancer, I actually became so sad for a while, I just re watching all your videos. I felt really bad for you, since Just life overall f*cked you over. Not only did I become sad, I also became scared... I am always painting things for my dirt bikes as well, and found out the paint has lead, which causes cancer. Now, whenever I paint, I ALWAYS wear a mask... I’m glad you’re up and running, and hope you fight cancer off, as well as gain many many many more viewers. Love ya, CAM STRONG ❤️! (PS. Pryme)

Nice job Cameron, you would make a great shop teacher. You have a positive, informed delivery, and attention to detail.
Two minor things, you shouldn't roll the aluminum bars in the mounts like that, as it can score the aluminum, make a riser, and possibly crack on a big hit/landing. Also, the forward clamp bolts should be snugged up with the clamp touching, and then the rear(closer to rider) bolts tightened, creating the clamp.
Thanks for the videos. Enjoy the CR, I love my '95! Happy New Year.

Nice vids. I use an old plastic block when bleeding bike brakes to replace the pads an rotor. That way if you have a spill nothing get ruined.

Pryme your bike is looking so good. I have been working on a 2000 CR250R. It’s a play bike, needing some love. I went with the Galfer front rotor kit to help stop the old girl. Love your videos.

Not knocking you man, but fill up the master cylinder, attach a hose to bleeder leading to a container to catch the fluid, crack the bleeder and go do somthing else for a few minutes. Its called gravity bleeding and works every time. Do a round or two of some traditional pump up and hold bleeding afterwards for peace of mind. No special tools required other than a piece of hose, a container and a wrench.

It might me the case that You'v bolted front rotor with wrong rotating direction on. Re-check for arrow on surface.
Awesome amount of effort and beautyfull hardware in that build!

What if you drilled a hole in the stock master cylinder, tapped a hole, and put an air hose hookup on top of the master cylinder. Would that push the old brake fluid out?

Excellent work on the bike and this was another great video. I needed the syringe kit last week. I ordered the kit for the next time I will work on the brakes. Thanks for putting the kit together.
