Eternal are Britain's most underrated band. Just because they comprised of mostly and eventually only black girls they are largely ignored when TV stations do stuff like British top 10 girl bands. Crazy. Funny thing is when they were going the public could not ignore them because they were in your face with brilliance and had huge success but would have been bigger if society was enlightened as it is now. They are my favourite band of all time and I still see them as a missed opportunity for the rest of us. Their music is TIMELESS. You just found Stay. LOL. Wait till you hear Power of a Woman the single.
You get it bro. They are very underappreciated.Easther is a beast and diesnt get enough live or her vocals. Amd the brit arrangement of thos track also doesnt get enough crddit, the producer who did this did boss work on this
Ahhhh. I love that you’re doing Eternal. My favourite girl group!! They are incredibly underrated. This song actually did really well in the US but a number of reasons kinda within the band hampered their success over there. Their 1st album Always & Forever is all this kinda new jack swing blended with r&b and pop. (Some of the songs were made a bit more pop leaning to be aimed at the teen market in the uk and europe) but that album legit still sounds amazing. If you’re gonna dip into it id do ‘Just a step from heaven’ next. The video is 🔥. Easther the lead singer is actually incredible. Id say one of the best singers of my childhood. Whitney actually said to her once that she could listen to her voice all day. Also fun facts Eternal did the European version of Someday for the hunchback of notradame and also released Angel of Mine before Monica. Their version is one of my faves of theirs. Their second album Power of a woman (and that song is dynamite) leans more into r&b. All their albums are great. Gone too soon.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for all this info TOm, this is the kind of information I've been waiting for someone to drop on this video, cause I'm so curious about these girls & their groups timeline, it really sucks that the 90s had some groups with women with 1 of a kind purely uniue voices and through messes of the industry (mostly) in most casses the womens groups & careers didn't exist or make much impact on the charts or industry outside of the 90s (including alot of them as solo artists too), I'll basically be doing all their videos & performances lol. Thsi song HOOKED me.
Yes! Amazing, please do. They were a 4 piece on the 1st album then went down to 3 after that and actually spent more time as a trio, then ended up as just the two sisters on the last album. They ran from about 93 - 99 and dont get enough credit for changing the game for girl bands before the spice girls came along. They were huge

I loved Eternal & many British Soul Groups that got a lot of props here in the states in the 90s. I loved Eternal's version of"Stay" when it came out in 1993, which ironically is a Remake originally done by American R&B singer Glenn Jones in the early '80s, is one of the few times where the Remake is better than the original.
I didn't know about Glenn Jones' version & just had a listen. Now, I'm appreciating his version as "The Unplugged" version of Eternal's because they definitely magnified the song at least ten-times or if not, more!🎉

There were way more than a couple of great British groups and Eternal weren't the best (this track was up there with the best though) there were a couple of better groups, closer to that time... what about Loose Ends (Hangin on a string, Don't throw your life away, etc) and Soul II Soul (Back to life, Keep on movin')? ????????????

They're was a couple of good British RnB groups but eternal were the best.
