I am the honest vocal coach! I have been teaching for 15 years and been singing since I was 16. I teach from my own studio and also teach and mentor via email, and online via Live & Skype. I specialise in teaching children, and teenagers pop and musical theatre but I am trained in all genres of music. I have studied every voice technique there is, including Speech Level Singing, Estill, Bel Canto, Robert Lunte, London College of Music, ABRSM, Ria Keen, Kim Chandler, Stevie Van Lange and many more. I have been around!
In 2008 I wrote the Vocaltutor Guide, 21 set lessons for singing teachers to get started, learning to teach, and produced 3 vocal exercise CD/Downloads.
I am now working on my first online singing programme. The Foundations of Singing that will be available on Udemy.

CHER is even more than "just" a legend. She managed to stay relevant in the business for 6 decades. Had a #1 in each of them, won an oscar (for acting) and sold 100 millions + more records. Not everyone can do that.
No one ever did that, she's the only person in the world to have a #1 on the Billboard charts for 6 decades

1960s: I Got You Babe #1 on the Hot 100
1970s: Dark Lady, Gypsies Tramps and Thieves, Halfbreed all went to #1 on the Hot 100
1990s: Believe went to #1 on the Hot 100 and Cher became the oldest woman to hit #1, a record she still holds.

She is the synonym of freedom. She is totally relaxed while singing, dancing, acting, speaking. Cause she is just like that, she doesn't want and she doesn't need to prove anything nor to be somebody else.
YASSS. I once heard RuPaul say that in order to do a good Cher you needed to look a little bored and that's so true. I've seen her twice in concert and she moves and sings with such ease it's awesome to witness.

When "Believe" came out, it became a major hit because of Cher's awesome vocal delivery, & it was the 1st time they used autotune on her voice. They called it "The Cher Effect".
The woman is a history maker, I can only imagine how big she would've gotten if traveling outside the US and UK were as common then as it is today or if they had the internet, etc.
She really paved the way for altos in pop music and androgynous vocals.
I can't believe at 72 she still has that amazing voice. What a legend!

Cher is put into the same camp as Madonna, visually innovative and sexually provocative BUT she actually has a very original sound and has preserved her voice to such a high standard that even now in her 70s she can still slay.
Also I think because the culture worships high notes above anything else, a natural contralto is often underrated even when they have legitimate vocal talent.

Finally got to see Cher in Dublin last year for the first time! and as a lifelong fan I was totally mindblown by her live show. I have watched her shows countless times, but it was something else to witness her live. I stood in awe of the vocal power she has at her age and her stamina at 73 years old is phenominal. Right she never actually said anything about the vocal ability and she didn't understand that they were bouncing through decades with the same songs literally some of the clips of the same songs where like 15 years apart
Yes,she does have a both good and rare voice (contraltos, dramatic mezzos and spinto sopranos are some of the rarest voices).
Even having such a low voice she could belt out F5s which is more than most mezzos or even some sopranos can.

I love Believe! I remember when I was a kid watching the Sonny and Cher show.my Mom is going to her concert. Wish I could go with her. 🎼 and who could forget her video on the ship♥️😊
I adore Cher with every ounce of my being. She and Xtina are my favorite divas. Just saw her on the Here We Go Again Tour and at 73, she still puts on a better show than most artists half her age and still sounds like she's in her 40s.
ALSO: the first time hearing her sing "Just This One Time" always shocks people. I'm not sure but it's been claimed the high notes on there were done as an inside joke because of the song title.

Such an underrated voice. Effortless richness. Almost always on point. Easy yet profound. Also, her breathing seems amazing to me. It’s like she doesnt have to breathe. She doesnt take deep breaths before louder/longer notes. Its very interesting.

Reba McEntire please! Her voice really changed in around 2010. It used to be gorgeous and flawless but has since become thinner, lost her range and a bit strained. She used to have perfect pitch but in the last 5-10 years has been fairly flawed live. I’d love to hear your professional opinion because her voice is what I fell in love with and kept me a fan since 1988 ❤️

Thank you for this. I've seen Cher 33 times since 2003. About the costume for "I Hope You Find It", I remember reading that before the "Dressed to Kill" Tour, Bob Mackie had to drop out for one reason or another and was not able to create all her costumes as he has done in the past. I remember seeing that particular show and thinking that the costumes didn't quite have that Bob-Mackie touch.

I have to say that where she’s singing Believe live here in the silver thing and it sounds strained was at the end of the concert on the last tour ( I saw her in London last year). Toward the end of the two hour concert you could hear she and her voice were getting tired. But she was still getting it out and at 70-odd it’s absolutely no surprise lol. She was outstanding.
