- This game marks episode number 8 on our road to number one this season! We have a relatively balanced setup in the beginning, but at multiple points throughout the game we have to make the decision between building a city or buying devs! Do we make the right calls? Stay tuned till the end to find out....

a tip on trading: don't build first, then ask people from trades.. like the city you built, it made you look more dangerous, and people declined your trade offers a moment later..
I do normally try to do this but for some reason I decided to drop the city first on this occasion and I don't know why 🤦♂

I would use that road building to drop 2 more roads to secure the ore port. Maybe even 3:1 to get to the 10 brick. But that's why you're ranked higher than me :D

at 20:00 not sure why instead of playing Knight, you didn't 3:1 lumber for a brick, place road 9/4, use Road Building between 4/11 & 4/5 to take Road and cut off any potential for orange to get it. Seemed a better play than placing a settlement and worrying about orange taking road when it was part of your win con.
Good initial settlement placement. I guess it is important to pick places that won't be aggressively blocked rather than be too ambitious with the first road placement.
But it looks like you got pretty lucky - no badly timed 7's, people actually traded you brick at the beginning, strong 8 rolls early on, and they stole your sheep instead of brick at 10:45, which could have been a big setback. Feels like so many games the random number generator just does everything to keep me down.
The trades I managed to get at the beginning were huge tbh, and that sheep steal was incredibly lucky haha. I always feel like I do better in games where the 7's don't roll as much, but you're right, some days I swear the RNG just wants to break me 🤣🤣

At 9:30, the settle is definitely not tje play the ore is way to valuable to 4 for 1 in that situation. I actually prefer double devs. I think this better for your pacing, your win condition and you are currently blocked on the 5 wheat.
At 13:50, better to dev first.

@9:30 - I was really torn between the city and devs here. If I did double dev, do you think I am risking and potential dev card pulls that are worse than a city, or do you think any 2 cards here are better than a city?

In a perfect world where no one robs you, a city is very strong. When you take into account that building a city makes you the leader and you will be targetted, I expected that 2 devs to have more value on average.
