☸️November 4 is Lhabab Duchen which celebrates the Buddha Shakyamuni’s return to Earth, accompanied by Brahma and Indra, on a lapis lazuli ladder to the Indian town of Sankisa from the God Realm of the Thirty-Three.
Our glorious protector for this and all our lives, the root guru possessing the threefold kindness, Kyabje Yongzin Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche passed into Parinirvana on the fifteenth day of Saga Dawa of the Water Rabbit year according to the Tibetan lunar calendar (June 4, 2023).
Today at 8am, His Eminence Goshir Gyaltsab Rinpoche, His Eminence Jangtse Choje Gosok Rinpoche, His Holiness the 43rd Sakya Trizin Gyana Vajra Rinpoche, His Eminence Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche, His Eminence Zurmang Gharwang Rinpoche, the Venerable Tai Situ Rinpoche’s representative His Eminence Gyalton Rinpoche grandly led the procession of inviting Kyabje Rinpoche’s precious Kudung from the main shrine hall to the cremation stupa. The tulkus, lamas, and khenpos of Thrangu monastery carried the precious Kudung, and was greeted by the tulkus, lamas, and representatives of various monasteries and organizations, the entire Thrangu sangha and related organizations, and numerous students of Rinpoche from all across the world.
At 9am, the great lamas of the four lineages of Sakya, Gelug, Nyingma, and Kagyu presided over pujas on the four sides facing the cremation stupa. Over four thousand people attended the cremation ceremony, including His Eminence Zurmang Gharwang Rinpoche, Rumtek Monastery’s representative the Venerable Drupon Dechen Rinpoche, Tsurphu Labrang’s representative Gyaltsen Sonam, the Venerable Dolpo Shri Tulku, the Venerable Gyalpo Rinpoche, the Venerable Tai Situ Rinpoche’s representative His Eminence Gyalton Rinpoche, Mr. Sudan Kirarti (Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation), representative of Lumbini Development Trust, head of Buddhist Philosophy Promotion and Monastery Development Committee, all district heads and leaders of the area, Sikkim State Minister Sonam Lama, tulkus from various monasteries and related personnel, along with many khenpos, lamas, novice and fully ordained monastics, and lay devotees.
Pujas were performed on each side of the mandala and the Kudung was cremated according to each sadhana’s fire puja practice (jinsek). On the eastern side of the mandala was the Five-Deity Chakrasamvara puja, on the western side the Minling Vajrasattva practice, on the southern side of was the practice of Hevajra, and on the northern side of the mandala was the practice of the Bhagavan Protector Akshobhya.
Through the virtue and strength of these activities, may the unmistaken incarnation of Kyabje Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche swiftly return to continue and uphold the predecessor’s unfathomable activities.
