This Is How Ants Find The Shortest Way To Food (Ant Colony Optimization)

Ants are not really smart but they are somehow able to find the shortest way between the ant nest and the food. How they manage to find out the best way in a complex environment?
This video explains all these, how ants communicate when they search for food and what kind of interaction they have, it also talks about what experiments have scientists constructed to solve all those questions and to understand how ants behave in a colony.
Ant colonies inspired us to create one of the most popular algorithms for discrete problem optimization known as ant colony optimization. Using this algorithm we can solve complex graph problems like the traveling salesman problem or routing problems and get good results in a relatively short time.
Collective and swarm intelligence gets more and more attention from scientists, because a individual performs simple tasks which are easy to implement on computers but combining together all individual tasks complex problems can be solved.
