Honestly, this is easily the Oil Ocean remix that I'm least proud of, though that might be in large part because I went for very much of a JP style Bad Future when I'm much more of a fan of the US Bad Future style. I like the last section with the electric guitar.
I like how this takes inspiration from both Palmtree Panic Bad Future (JP/EU) & Oil Ocean Act 2 from Sonic Mania.

Sonic Mania gave the exact Blueprint on how the stage would look like in a Bad Future setting: The Area is overheating, skies are dark and burning down all over the place with hot fog making you suffocating if you down find the levers.
BF: All the oil has been pumped dry from the sands. As such all of the old and rusted machinery is being sucked into the quicksand and sinkholes created in Robotnik's efforts to take the precious crude. The sands shift violently to absorb everything, alarm klaxons blaring loudly. If Sonic doesn't hurry and watch his step around the really rusted platforms, he'll be part of the sands too!
Oil ocean bad future is basically act 2 of oil ocean in sonic mania!
Oil Ocean:
The area has now become almost completely submerged in pure crude oil, with only the topmost part of the zone not submerged. Sonic can actually somehow breathe here, but the slightest spark could cause the entire area to explode and cause Sonic to lose a life, meaning that while swimming in the oil, Sonic can't do anything that would cause a spark (spin-dashing, hitting too many monitors or badniks in suceesssion), and he ESPECIALLY cannot use the flame shield, otherwise the whole area will explode as soon as he touches it! Sonic will have to be more careful than ever if he wants to make it out of this zone alive!
The water shield will be very necessary if you want to get out alive.
So you’re telling me that in the bad future Oil Ocean Zone is a Deathtrap if you do damn near anything?
@@YeomasBros.2008 Not if you have a Water Shield, and luckily, there are Water Shield monitors placed nearby most of the checkpoints.
Also, not all of the zone is submerged in oil (because that wouldn't be fair).
But(t)! The fire shield would make him immun.
The only thing that would happen is the Hidden Palace under the ocean would burn down and... Oooooh. I get it. Probably Sonic should be really careful
The sky would look like a murky warm gray color and the sun would be reddish as if it were behind a massive cloud of a brushfire.
Ah yes Oil Ocean “Bad Future” + Oil Ocean Act 2 Boss = a True nightmare
A large and expansive oil rig stretches far upon as the future is in sight... Oil Ocean has become a much larger facility, the size of the place can house a literal ocean of oil! And like any ocean, it's teeming with action... though this may not be your _ideal_ kind. Badniks, forever being able to be fueled by the extracted oil, are on the hunt for the Blue hedgehog... you should probably get out as quick as you can before you get overwhelmed!
Honestly I like the style here, the fast techno going into the guitar goes really well. That is obviously my personal bias, since I can see the techno rave style of JP's Bad Future flowing perfectly here, but I'm not sure what would work with the US style. Quartz Quadrant BF US would probably blend well, but I recall you already used that and I'm not sure if you'd want to use it again
By this point of time, every drop of oil has been pumped dry from the desert, leaving only sediment and sludge behind. Nature's vengeance has come for Eggman's facilities; sandstorms and lighting batter against the refinery complex, tearing it apart. If those sand particles can pull paint off of metal, it's obvious what they'll do to the ring counter if Sonic spends too long outside...
"Techno rave". That's why I don't love this remix. I do think this remix suits the Bad Future well, it's just a style that I don't personally like.

Well, a place like Oil Ocean could fare just as well with a Japanese style manic theme, as with an American style desolate theme. It's a rather mechanical zone, similar in that aspect to Quartz Quadrant. Too bad that zone's Japanese version just isn't evil enough. IMHO if Quartz Quadrant had something more evil but still fast and frantic (like a theme I dislike even more because of how little it fits its own stage - Tidal Tempest bad future) it might sound better.
I think if he went with the US style, inspiration could be drawn from Tidal Tempest Bad Future.
So, years ago, back when I was a kid (or, maybe in my early teens, I don't quite remember the specific time frame), I was telling my dad about this zone. You know, a whole ocean of oil, and what might happen if it caught on fire.
Now, this being years ago and me being young, I don't remember all the details, but I do remember him saying that oil doesn't explode, not on its own. But if this whole ocean was refined to a state where it could properly burn, the resulting smog would cover the whole planet, blocking out all sunlight and killing everything below as a result.
So when I think Oil Ocean Bad Future, this is what I think of. The whole "oil ocean" is now just a sea of flames, and smog is worse than even Mania's Oil Ocean Act 2. Sonic can't just clear this out with a switch, and has to find safe places where is can't easily reach him, while rushing through from these spots until he can travel back in time.
Sonic is currently standing ground-zero for the apocalypse, and environmentally, this is one of the biggest challenges he'll ever face.

BF: OHMYGODTHEENTIREOILOCEANISONFIRE! The massive plant has been taken in a "daring raid" by a faction of bandits and lit aflame by their leader! Now an eternal inferno, the flames rising endlessly bellow out of large tubes, and the heat is SO intense that the surrounding sand has been completely glassed over! One shudders to think just how dangerous the flames are below as they are above......

How I would imagine this stage would be something like this:fire is nearly everywhere,there's machines in the background that shoot fires which go from the background to the foreground trying to attack the player. (Like the chain chomps from Yoshi's Island) and all the once stepable oil is just fire meaning you're just going to have to step on the solid platforms instead of being able to go through the oil,however there is some oil you can step on but very little as there are robots that will try to set it on fire with a match,and the cannon machine that shoot you are sporadic meaning you have to time where'd you go. (Like Stardust Speedway from Sonic CD)

Without destroying the machine in the Past, Oil Ocean becomes a dangerous place.
With the increase in frequency of sand storms and having used up all the available oil, Robotnik has left the place to its own devices. The gritty sand has teared at most of the exposed complex, rusty platforms galore. The mix of left-over sludge and sand has formed some nasty quicksand underneath the refinery, slowly sinking it into the ground.
Truly one of the more hazardous places on West Side Island.
I can imagine a Bad Future of Oil Ocean Zone being basically all the factories having been partially to fully destroyed and the whole place is on fire due to all the oil being ignited.
Oil Ocean BF: Diesel Drought Zone- When Sonic lost to Robotnik, the mad doctor was free to rule the world as he saw fit. Over the course of several years, he used up all of Oil Ocean's petroleum to power his Flying Battery fleet(now renamed to the Flying Battalion), leaving nothing but decaying husks of his own oil rigs in his wake . Due to all of the oil being gone, any spaces that it previously occupied are now instant bottomless pits, and there are more spikes as well as stronger numbers of badniks. The fans were rendered all but nonfunctional as soon as the power was cut, and the original Eggmarine in Act 2 has been swapped out in favor of a much more powerful variant that has harder variants of the original’s attacks, as well as adding a couple new ones into the mix(In this timeline, Eggman managed to bolster the Eggnet’s reaches to the outer edges of the planet and began refurbishing the Eggmarine as soon as he detected Sonic’s presence). Like in Mania, there is smog left about as a result of the pollution from the battalion, so Sonic will have to find various air pockets scattered around the zone in order to get to the end. Unlike Mania however, the fumes are EXTREMELY flammable, and will be set aflame if so much as a spark catches them, so it probably doesn't help that there are flame monitors scattered everywhere...

Oil Ocean Act 1: Bad Future, the Oil Ocean is over flowing! The Tides rise and Lower to slow your progress and make it harder to shut down the Oil Rig! Shut down the Mini-Boss to prevent the place from covering the entire island in an Oily Hell!
Act 2: The Second Act Drains the Oil and now you can see the bottom of the Sea Floor, bones of animals and bleached coral litter the ground, and large oil extracting machinery with the Doctor's face printed on it. The Boss is the Fatman himself! Defeat the Doctor from continuing his drilling before he causes major damage to the rest of the place!
The place is finally burning down, but not after the place has expanded as far as thr eye can see, extracting oil and spewing it everywhere...
I can imagine the place being on fire here. Must be terrifying, especially with this playing.

I guess we're just going to have to respectfully disagree, because I HATE Oil Ocean but this is a straight banger. The "five four three two one"....omg... so good. Never feel bad about taking Palmtree Panic Bad Future influence! I think Savage Regime did something similar for his Angel Island remix, and it was incredible. Regardless, I understand that an artist may feel differently about his or her own work than others do.
On an unrelated note, I hope you may consider doing Star Light Zone (Sonic 1) for this remix series one day. That zone was the inspiration for Stardust Speedway so it would be incredible to hear it in the CD Style. Imagine how epic a bad future variant would sound, both the JP and US CD tracks are super high energy.
I think it would be interesting to Star Light throw in some sort of nostalgia in all of it's time zone, but in different ways:
Past: Could get inspiration from the unused art for it, having several mountains on the far back, and the construction would be in it's very early states, being mostly wooden. Also the city would be smaller and have a clock tower on it. The level has several bottomless pits on it, but it will be worth traversing such environment to make a Good Future
The music would sound classy and on a bit on low quality to capture that feeling on playing on a TV
Present: The construction site would be more complete than the original, and the music would be a beautiful remix of the original
Bad Future: Star Light has became an extension of Scrap Brain. The construction site is finished, but is turned into a rusted and worn down metallic speedway. The sky is dark with very few tiny stars, although the worst is to come. The buildings have been replaced by a metallic city made by Robotnik, as he makes a lifeless version of the zone. There's a huge eggman statue on the background, with Robotnik's face and body flashing several lights from star shaped spotlights. The music would be a sad and desolated version of the original, as unlike Green Hill, most people still like Star Light and seeing a lifeless version of it would make them want even more to do a Good Future
Good Future: The construction site is finally complete, turning Star Light into a beautiful highway with several colors! The sky is filled with stars and constellations making it a beauty scenario. the city is far more modern, with metro tubes around it, less rectangular buildings and all them have green roofs.
I don't know how the music would be, but it definitively should sell the "we saved the place from our childhood" idea

Yea the smog returns from mania, not to mention roaring... is that oil or lava? engulfing the bottom half of the level. the vents have no lids expelling toxic gas. the cannons explode on contact, overall not a good time. should be renamed to OSHA violation zone in my opinion.

Bad future: This place has turned into a real hell, Sonic struggles to breathe because of the smoke. All the oil has burned and this place is on fire. Later, at the end of act 2, Sonic can notice a factory further ahead that is Metropolis in this terrible future.

BF: all the oil in the zone is burning, turning the entire place into a burning hell scape, so hot the metal in oil ocean starts to become so hot it burns Sonic. Some platforms even started melting, and hence cannot support the weight of Sonic without breaking off.
Someone needs to make a 1 hour version of this remix
BF: oil ocean, an already unethical oil rig has been upgraded and had taken over a small island rich in more oil and other precious resources. However sonic may find himself in the older section (the levels layout in sonic 2) this area is completely unused and abandoned. Rusted, oil coated and heck very hard to breathe (similar to act 2 in sonic mania) sonic will have to use switches to push some fresh air to his lungs. The robots are mostly old and broken, covered in oil.

BF: Eggman had taken all the oil and no one wants to buy it from him, so he in a fit of rage destroys a super badnik of his which caused an explosive reaction. The air is filled with smoke that can suffocate sonic and block his view. If sonic doesn’t fix this, Mobians will be out of air soon.

*Bad Future:* The structures are even larger than before, creating even more pollution and toxic chemicals not seen in the present times. Some areas are permanently on fire. Oil is not the main obstacle anymore, but other chemicals that have impeding effects on the player. Some slow you down for 15 seconds if you touch it. Some shorten your jump height. Some stop you from collecting rings outright. Some goal posts have decayed away, meaning that checkpoints are rarer than before. Some fires burn so insanely bright that not even the fire shield can protect you from it. The color scheme is no longer indigo and gold, but dark red and grey. The oil is black, not dark purple. The Sonic Mania-esque toxic air that reduces your rings is doubly worse in Act 2. Enemies have a faster response time and shoot even more projectiles.
Did you mean the sky will be dark red and the obstacles and and structures will be grey?

Bad Future: Somehow, Eggman has destroyed his own oil refinery and it has turned into a polluted waste land filled with metal debris and oil flash floods, the area is up in flames and it is difficult to breathe. Sonic you have really failed this place but you cant turn back and change this, I t i s t o o l a t e.
At this point, we can easily rank your remixed the same way you rank the Sonic CD themes that inspired those remixes.

oil ocean was always meant to be a bad future so this would be more of a present theme if you think about it
