    Thank you for posting this. What do you mean explicitly Irish? Is it Irish due to the reference of an Irish location? Or is it Irish in it’s composition form or style?

      On the tune itself it says "Irish", claiming the tune comes from Ireland.

      So Gow derived the tune from an Irish tune?

      We think (Nathaniel) Gow just transcribed an Irish tune he heard somewhere-he was as much a tune collector as he was a composer. He probably came up with the bass line from scratch, though.
