I'm 7 years away from medicare enrollment. Came across this video as i'm doing other retirement preps. This video answered all the questions regarding Medicare and TFL. Great info.
I don’t recall getting the notice that my healthcare was going to change when reaching 65. My application for social security was started 3 months before my 65th birthday and was delayed until 3 weeks prior. I then find out that because I wasn’t enrolled in Medicare until then my TriCare for life did not start. I went to fill a prescription and was told I have no coverage and apparently my meds are not on the Medicare approved list. At 65 a time when money is now restricted I’m told our TriCare premium of $420 a year for family coverage is now free under TriCare for Life we are told our Medicare premium is now $167 each per month. That’s 10 times what it was.
My wife and I only paid $55 a month for years with our Tricare Prime. Now, upon turning 65, my wife has the privilege of having to pay Medicare Part B premiums at $185 a month. She just got her first bill for 4 months for $740! I start with Medicare in a few months, and I assume I'll pay the same premiums. So instead of $55 a month we will be going to $370. It seems to me that the older we get when we can least afford it we are further penalized financially. I don't understand why the government forces us out of Tricare Prime to have to accept Medicare just to make seniors pay more for their healthcare.
I will be turning 65 next year and will be eligible for Medicare/tricare for life. But, my husband will just be 64 years old (1 year younger than me) next year. He is paying Tricare Prime $60/month for me as of now, but he is using VA as his medical. My question is, when I turn 65 next year and I am eligible for medicare/tricare for life, should he continue to pay the montly $60 tricare Prime up until he himself turn 65?

Why are eyes and teeth and ears not covered? The last time I checked, they were part of the body.
It's a joke only for active duty or retirees, not for veterans!
that's not true
@@teresab208 try telling th e m that! They won't listen to me or my insurance agent! So copays are not covered by them or the VA for outside medical!
@@berlynreed4253 TRICARE for life is for retirees yeah it’s something you earn or get owed
