With this aftermarket controller no up date is needed. If you install a Ford controller in the dash it will not work until recognized . I wish you the best on your install
I have a 2014 f150 the plug came with it in glove box in bag with 2 fuses that say I’m wired up for it . I wired this up with butt connectors to the plug from the brake just need to plug it up and put in fuses also . Would I need to have something turned on from factory or I should just be able to plug it in like yours and be good to go. And obviously calibrate the brake box . I have the exact same brake control
Thanks for the video. I moved from an 08 to a 17 and went to put my brake controller in to find out the changed the pig tail and I couldn't find the connection at all. After your video I was able to find the connection point without a problem.
At least for my 2018 F150 Lariat, this video was exactly correct. Took only about 2 minutes longer in my truck than the video to do the installation. Well done sir.
What was your fuse location labeled as in your manual? I’m working on my 2016 and have everything done but the fuse. Trying to figure out which slot to install it
the fuse goes in 24, yet you may want to look inside to ensure it has terminals. Some models did not have terminals installed unless it had the tow package. If by chance your fuse holder is blank you will need to run a hot wire from the posts on the side of the fuse box into the cab. I wish you the best
It works with out having anything activated from the dealer since it is an aftermarket controller. On the 2017 you may have to run a fused power line to your controller.
Great job! Im going to do this to my 2020 f150 with my Tekonsha P2 . So you just plugged that adaptor which came with your truck into the trailer brake plug and then you hard wired the other end of the adaptor to your controller? And thats it? It worked?
@@bbbjim1fixedit thanks for all the help! My truck came with that fuse installed so hopefully i dont need a flash from the dealership and it all works smoothly...fingers crossed
Good suggestion, yet I was trying to be universal and I didn't want this to be specific to the Tekonsha controller I used. The connectors supplied from your controller should have a wire diagram showing which is the power wire and such. I wish you the best on your install.
Don’t do this. Just buy the factory controller and plug it in. It goes in the cubby below the transfer case dial. The cubby is actually a dummy cap for the plug. Once you plug it in, enable it with ForScan. Way easier, cheaper, supported by the dealer, and less risky
Thank you for showing the size and location of the fuse, that bit of information is what I've been needing to get my controller to work
Glad I could help
What kind of fuse is that?
So the ECU does not have to be updated?

Do i need to 4scan it after
Not with this after market controller.
I just installed my controller, works perfectly. You gave me great confidence that all would be OK. Thanks!

I think the only programing needed would be if you use the Ford controller.
@@bbbjim1fixedit I have the same one as you so I’m assuming I don’t need to thanks for the quick response

Did it work with out having to get the trailer brake turned on from ford? My 2017 has to have that option turned on from Ford

You need a fuse also
@@bbbjim1fixedit fuse 24?
Yes in 24 you will need a 30 amp micro cartridge fuse. I wish you the best on installing your controller

Borgsy1 how did it turn out. I just ordered mine
Thank you sir. Made the job that much easier
Glad it helped
Thank you sir.
Most welcome
Great video but you should explain how to connect the wires which goes with whish
