  • The youngest birds from the Fall hatch are now at the age to finish for the table or retain for more growth.
    We reviewed the best older guys first from 2022, to see what could be different and what we could be looking for in the youngest batch.
    Found 2 to keep and 7 to eat. Table traits took the lead for this sorting session.

    I follow this diligently. As we grow, learn, and focus on our goal towards a homestead, a self-sustaining dual purpose bird flock is our 'destination'. We Just started documenting our journey right here on YT. ONE day, I hope to be sharing Bresse video as well!

    I'm doing a cross breeding of Dark Cornish and White Plymouth Rocks. Bresse are my backup plan.

    I swear this is the breed of the rooster from Rooster Fighter - large red combs and pure white body with highly curved tail. Lol i might raise 2 and call them Keijiro and Sara 😂😂😂

    Do you ever bring in some bresse from other bloodlines to increase genetics ?

      No, not if I can help it. I only do it for needed traits that aren't being expressed. New lines can bring new problems. Instead I'd rather select for it or hatch for it.

    Excellent video on confirmation!
    Can you do a video on your set up? Im building mine this month and wondered if there is anything you would add for convenience or do differently?
    Im looking at your small sections for mating pairs and all the brooders … wondering how to incorporate that.

      I'll do a video tour but having the luxury of the old, beat up barn space has really been helpful in available square feet that already had a roof on it. If we didn't have this barn, I wouldn't be able to pull off this scale. Our township limits the number of small structures per acre so I wouldn't have been able to have the same number of individual coops that we have in indoor pens.

    The end birds have alot of poop maybe worms
    Should not be so
    The middle bird clean vent. Just saying

    By any chance, are you selling any hatching eggs???

    • @arcadianorchard
      @arcadianorchard  Рік тому +1

      No, we're still working on flock development and I can't offer eggs until the breeding arrangements are proven. The variables and rate of cull is too high, at least in my opinion.
