- The international rugby season kicks off for many of our Pacific rugby players with the start of the Pacific Nations Cup in Suva on August 23.
That's when Manu Samoa take on Fiji as it continues to build in this Rugby World Cup cycle. Problem is, the money required to remain competitive is running low and so, Manu Samoa have announced it will not be going on an end-of-year Northern Hemisphere Tour unless World Rugby coughs up more money.
It's the eternal problem for Rugby in the Pacific and here to give his view is former Manu Samoa Rugby Captain Mulitalo Filipo Levi.

World Rugby need to say, Yes we will help fund you but only if theres a complete change of the board. If not, no money for you.
Would be nice if former players actually stood on business and called it for what it is. Get rid of Tuilaepa as chair. World rugby have funded us for so long yet, we're still in the same position as emerging countries.
Samoan support for rugby, won't be back until samoa get rid of the whole lakapi board.

Nothing will change until leadership acts in the best interests of Samoa Rugby. It seems new leadership should have a go. The current administration has done a terrible job. Why haven’t they got the sack or stood down?
