I picked mine up locally the day after it came out. Not had a ton of time to put it through the paces, but three observations: 1) The AF seems *really* fast. 2) The shutter is so quick and quiet that I'm having to adjust to it after using the X-T3 for close to 3 years. 3) Colors and noise at higher ISOs look great - I've already used Nostalgic Neg a few times. :D
A good overview of settings. One thing to add on the custom setting banks, you can save much more than film profiles now. Like I have C7 with bird detection on for when I am birding. C6 is my face detection on for portraits C5 is Flash mode where I have preview set correctly and have proper shutter mode, etc. You can adjust a lot of unique settings for each custom setting, for various scenarios. ...oh, and when in Movie mode, you get 7 more! :D
Ah gotcha. This is a big improvement over what I could do on my X-T3. I assume this is similar to what they added to the X-H2(s) with they C1-7 on the PASM dial. Seems quite powerful so far in my testing.
Helpful for this new X-T5 user, thanks. If you're using a lens, such as the 10-24mm f/4, with OIS, then turning OIS off/on on the lens also turns IBIS off/on in the camera, which is easier than going into the menu.
Excellent tips that are actually useful. Waiting on my XT-5 coming next week and I'm gonna refer back to this vid when I get it. Great content, Reggie!
With a new Fujifilm camera, the first custom button I map is Preview Exposure cycling, usually to the front button beside the lens. The second custom setting is face detection. :)
Great vid! For video, outside of the flippy screen, is the XT5 a better choice over the XT4? Other reviewers seem to have been mentioning the AF updates have been sub-par.
Yup. The xt5 matches or improves on almost every spec on both photo and video vs the xt4. Reviewers are just being unappreciative of the improvements tbh.
I’m happy to say that I never turn IBIS off in my T4 or H2 and I’ve taken a bunch long exposures without issue. One night I was taking long exposure city scapes and it was gusty so I did turn it off but the tripod was the issue it struggled with my 50-140, the results were terrible with IBIS on or off. 😂
If you're not planning on shooting videos I can understand that some people would like to disable the movie optimized control, but if you do want to shoot video this option must always be on for a perfect hybrid shooting experience. Your photo settings almost never will be right for video shooting, with this option you can set your exposure for 1/50 (if you're shooting 25fps) and will save your ideal aperture too. I think this have nothing to do with the noise of the dials it's only to keep your settings different in photo mode and in video mode. I also got a magnetic VND so I can remove it very fast when turning my camera into photo mode. This movie optimized control mode is great if you want to shoot both video and photo in your XT5 and make it perfect for it, even when it's "photography first" camera. I love the 4K HQ in 422 with the FLog2. Don't get it wrong, guys! This camera is crazy good shooting video! 🎥🖤📷 PS. Thanks Reggie for all your videos, I just got a XT5 and one of the reasons I fell in love with Fujifilm was watching your videos ❤
Thank you for the great content here. I learned a few things about my month old XT5 today! I have one function that doesn't seem to work and I'm wondering if some other setting is preventing its use. I have AF Mode set to ALL but when I start selecting the focus area, I cannot get rear command dial to change the selection size. I used this feature on my XT2 so I'm familiar with its use. I can get it to work if I use a programmable button but I hate to waste a button on a feature that doesn't need it. Thanks in advance to you or any of your followers who have suggestions.
OMG -- I don't know if this is new to the X-T5, but I didn't know about the Trash Can/Rear Command Dial trick to bring up the format menu. This is my third XT and I've always gone through the menus. Yes, you have to format a new card but how often do you need to do that? The very frequent use case for me is after I've copied photos from an SD card to my computer for editing, I format the cards to wipe everything off the cards. It's probably my most frequent reason to go into the menus. Not any more... Thanks! I love the long-press of the Display/Back Button to get to the Fn buttons menu. I'll be using that a lot.
Bro, I want to ask, how to adjust the ISO aperture and SS settings in photo mode so that when you switch to video mode, the ISO aperture and SS don't change, how do you do it... the problem is that the X-H1 fits even when you move to photo/video mode, the ISO aperture and SS settings remains the same. If the X-t5 switches to video aperture mode, etc. it changes again
Are you having issues with continuous autofocus? Seeing some reviewers saying that it shows the subject is in focus on the screen but when you look at it on a computer it’s out of focus.
I’m just a few years behind. Was looking at an xt30ii since I wanted a compact camera and hated the ergonomics of the Xs10. Is it a no brainer to just get a used xt3 for the same price as a new xt30ii? Didn’t seem terribly bigger. Granted would love weather sealing and a 3 way tilt in the smaller form. Guess. The question is used camera vs new since I can’t seem to find any new xt3’s or open boxes around. Thanks all.
One annoying quirk with the xt5 is that you can no longer double click the joystick view the autofocus points. Now you have to shift the joystick in order to view the autofocus. I don't want to shift the location of the autofocus. I want to change the size or type but not the location.
Hello and thanks for the very interesting video as always! I have a problem, I wonder if I could please ask you for an opinion...? Could you tell me why since I switched to the XT5 (I had photos are not very clear...! I'm not talking about grain which above 3200 ISO has more due to the denser sensor... I blamed the lens I have at the moment, namely the 23mm f1.4 old version which certainly doesn't solve everyone the 40 megap... (I will change the lenses as soon as possible!) The shutter speeds are always above 1/160th of a sec. The only thing I never use is the stabilizer because I don't make videos and I almost never shoot at slow speeds... (do I hurt, should I activate it?) As software I use Lightroom. Thanks Roberto. Ps. Sorry for my english...!
Is it possible to apply a setting to all custom settings? Lets say I want all my custom settings (c1, c2, ...) to use AF Mode ALL, do I have to set it up in every single custom setting or can I set it for all with like one click?
Hello, I have a question I'm manipulating the camera menu settings, and within a few minutes, the camera body feels a slight fever Is this a normal reaction?
Hi I have an xt3 and I have a video focusing question I want to be able to Use touch to focus while recording video but when in manual mode it wont let me. When I change focusing to S mode I can touch to fucus while recoding but cant see any focus peaking I want to be able to use Focus peaking and touch to focus while recording in 1 mode, how can I achieve this? Thank you
Excuse me, my X-T5 is in the AF-C continuous focus mode. When the shutter is half-pressed, the brightness of the camera screen will be relatively dim. When the shutter is released, it will be restored. Is there a setting error? Do you have the same situation, thank you for your answer.
Hey, I just figured this out today as I was going crazy with the same situation. Under Power Management menu section there is a sub section labeled EVF/LCD boost settings and if the last option is selected it will dim the EVF
Just sub, thank you for the vid. Just a question, I have 2 SD cards (USH-I and USH-II), is it okay to use both, placing the USH-II on the first SD slot. Does this affect performance when mixing this cards?
Hi Reggie! Thank you for all of your amazing videos. I am looking for advice. I just grabbed the XT5. I have an XT4 and and XPro 3 that I use professionally. Bringing my first raw images into lightroom from the XT5, it seems as if classic negative (which I use for everything), nostalgic negative, sepia, bypass etc... are missing from the simulation profiles. Some profiles are there, but many are missing. Am I missing something in the initial camera set up? Thank you so much ahead of time! -Heather
Hello, I am now studying photography in an online institute. I started to know the effect of light on photography and its different directions, colors and their effect on pictures. Now I want to buy a camera for photography and video, for streets, exhibitions and parties as well as natural pictures, some sports movements and animals. What do you recommend a camera and lens for, at a price not exceeding $2,500, thank you
I’m trying to stay patient and wait for the xpro4 before jumping to the new sensor, BUT this XT5 is making it so tempting to jump now then switch once the xpro4 drops. 😎🤣
Who got an X-T5? Who's still waiting for theirs to arrive? If you didn't get the X-T5, how come? Let us know!
I picked mine up locally the day after it came out. Not had a ton of time to put it through the paces, but three observations:
1) The AF seems *really* fast.

Nice! Hope you’re well Chris!
Hi Reggie 😀
Got mine yesterday!
Thanks for clear, concise instructions. Your clear, slow speech helps and you get straight into the topic with no waffling on about yourself.
Awesome, thanks! Finally I found information on this. It was even one of the main reasons I went back to X-S10.
Yup! That’s what I meant by a bank for each scenario 🤘🏽
Ah gotcha. This is a big improvement over what I could do on my X-T3. I assume this is similar to what they added to the X-H2(s) with they C1-7 on the PASM dial. Seems quite powerful so far in my testing.
Yup it’s very similar but not tied to a dial
Nice! Can you save frame rate in the Movie custom settings? So you can have slow no settings saved, etc.?
Oh good call re: turning off exposure preview when shooting flash!
Yup!
Helpful for this new X-T5 user, thanks. If you're using a lens, such as the 10-24mm f/4, with OIS, then turning OIS off/on on the lens also turns IBIS off/on in the camera, which is easier than going into the menu.
Great tips, thanks. So much to learn on the X-T5, buttons and functions I didn't even know existed!
Reggie this was fantastic. All very useful tips. And presented straight to the point. Thanks a lot
You’re welcome!
Excellent tips that are actually useful. Waiting on my XT-5 coming next week and I'm gonna refer back to this vid when I get it. Great content, Reggie!
I’m going to have to ask you for a full course on every setting on the xt5, lol . Thank god for you !
With a new Fujifilm camera, the first custom button I map is Preview Exposure cycling, usually to the front button beside the lens. The second custom setting is face detection. :)
Nice
Well presented and very useful
New XT5 guy here, previously Sony. Thanks for the straightforward vid, subbed! Also, are you 🇵🇭?
Yes, I am! 🇵🇭
Great vid!

Super useful video, thanks! I was wondering how you turned on the "balance line" as you can see at 03:20 ? I can't seem to find it.. Thanks !
Ordered but have to wait until 12/8 to be shipped
Almost there!

I’m not saying turn it off. I’m more just saying be aware of it if you’re aperture or shutter speed isn’t able to change. I agree with you 100%
@@Reggiebphoto that's right Reggie, so many people would be confuse with that option in the menu. This video is very helpful 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

you just have to hold both buttons down instead of clicking the dial
My X-T5 is in!
We don't have one yet, but planning to next year!

Gotta turn it to movie optimized control
You are just awesome!

I haven’t had any issues
@@Reggiebphoto good to know. Jerred Z made a video on this.
Nice. Maybe they can provide you more info on that. I haven’t had that experience so I can offer insight
I've had similar issue and found that it's best I turn noise reduction to -4. Mine was set to zero and images looked terrible.
Reggie, I finally bit the bullet and bought xt5 with 33mm f2
Nice!

Hi, probably they will come in a future update, in Lightroom. The camera's just released, and maybe they're working on it (just MHO)
I bought this camera today and the camera won’t focus on anything I try to take a picture of any ideas on what it might be or how I can fix it ?
What focus mode are you in?
thx

Fujifilm xt5 with the kits lens. And maybe the 33mm 1.4 as well

I believe so

I think the xt5 is better that xh2
For photography and video
nice!
250 of a second, say that 5 times fast 😂
not as easy as you'd think lol.
