I spent New Year and the days afterwards visiting friends and family down south - the reason I was away from my usual patch. That's not stuff I'll talk about on camera.
Thanks to everyone who suggested things to check with the van starting. I'm working through what diagnostics I am capable of and then it's being booked in at my trustworthy (and very busy) local garage. They know about the problems already.
I don't feel like I can recommend the Rain-X Anti Fog. It works for a while until it doesn't. Seems once the condensation starts again, it just gets worse to the point that I'm back drying the screen.

I’ll get my mechanic to have look when he’s trying to figure out the starting/starter/solenoid or whatever that turns out to be. Hopefully not too pricey.

Could be. I've added that to the list. The dashboard light does it's usual glowplug thing, so I hadn't considered that.

Hi Mevi, long time follower and never heard you talk about Colchester. I live on Greenstead estate growing up and visited my nan in oxford road. Small world.:)
It is a small world. I used to work at an alcohol project on Oxford Road.
My time in Colchester pre-dates the channel, I looked after my late father in Harwich from early 2017. I think my "first 7 days of vanlife" video features Colchester.

I don't think there's been a time when the van *hasn't* had a problem. 🤓
Sounds like a shock absorber top mounting moving on the spring. Or the spring moving in the saddle at the bottom. Or possibly a bit of the spring has broken off and gone, which would cause the noise.
From the number of commenters suggesting similar causes, seems the “donk” noise is quite recognisable.
Until now, I put it down to tracking. The noise would only happen for a few days after my tracking was tightened up. November MOT I had the offside arm replaced and it’s been making that noise ever since. I’ll book it in. Thanks
@@Mevi Tracking only affects the front wheels angle to the road, resulting in tyres wearing on the edges and possibly your steering wheel being misaligned. Hopefully it's just the shocker top and an inexpensive fix 🤞🤞
My Ducato made exactly the same noise before I changed the top shock mounts/strut bearings...

I know, I keep looking for patterns. I often stand outside the van with the door open as it seems to start more frequently..... but still not every time.
I used to be addicted to Doughnuts and Coca-Cola I look back at those days and I actually cannot believe it I am so the antithesis of that now.... I empathize sugar addiction sugar is more addictive than cocaine I'm not actually too sure about that but that's what they say hey
