Same prostitutes used over and over (or copied from, if actual living female bodies couldn't be used).
I'm guessing idealized forms of beauty at the time.
You see the same phenomenon nowadays too, except with some different standard idealized templates being in vogue instead. (Just look at how many Zooey Deschanel/Chris Hemsworth clones there are in Hollywood. Take a step back, and it's sameface everywhere.)

I saw this video and it piqued my curiosity. I found it extremely interesting as I had never really thought about this particular (and peculiar) subject. It makes complete sense to me and I'm glad that I took the time to watch this then I hit the "like" and the "subscribe" buttons!) 😉
This one really had been my question 1st time I saw these painting in the junior high school textbook of foreign history, but no one would answer my lots of question like this, now you reminded me and answered...I enjoy this film thank you
