Dear Friends, Family, and Lovers of the Arts,
Your support is greatly needed. Richmond Urban Dance is a non-profit organization focusing primarily on the inner-city youth of RVA, but also reaching a wide geographical area surrounding our city. We are mission-driven with a goal to inspire, equip, and entertain, and are committed to making a difference not only in the lives of our faculty and dancers, but in the lives of our audiences as well. This Richmond dance company believes opportunities should be created, not waited upon.
In addition to weekly dance classes, we provide scholarships for our students, and are involved in community projects and giving back to our city. Last season alone we gave away over 60 scholarships, and performed at over a dozen community events, free of charge. We are overwhelmed with performance requests and requests for additional classes and services; however, we have to decline most due to our lack of resources, staff, and rehearsal space. While we thrive on the challenge this presents us - and often resort to the street as our rehearsal space - it limits us in the services we can provide. We are in need of a permanent home and paid staff.
At Richmond Urban Dance, we strive to make a positive impact by creating tasteful, highly entertaining, skillful and enticing works. While urban dance is one of the most popular among youth, there has been almost a non-existent opportunity for formal training. The leaders of Richmond Urban Dance are not only masters at this style of dance, but also in working with our city's youth. We share a common passion, mission, and love for our city, it's youth, and the arts.
We don't just teach movement, we ARE a movement. Join us?
Your donation is tax deductible. Upon receipt of your donation, you will be mailed a letter that will include a tax deduction receipt for your records.
There are several ways to invest:
Option One: Become a Friend of Richmond Urban Dance by making a financial contribution to help underwrite the daily operational cost of this neighborhood studio. You can make a one-time contribution or donate monthly.
Option Two: Invest in the life of a child by becoming a dancer's Sponsor for one year. Your generosity will help them reach their dream. We will match you with a dancer and send you updates and videos on their progress!
All Friends and Sponsors names or business names will be listed on our website and event programs (optional).
