Had Sound of Sunbathing on a cassette in 79, wore it finally got chewed up in around 2000. I could never find another copy, not even on Spotify, don't know why the other albums are. Perfect pop rock songs, glad I found this.
i bought this lp when it came out because i saw them on a new wave show. great power pop record. i still have it. they deserved more attention and acclaim.
Brilliant. They were even better live and this song always got the crowd singing along. I saw them at the hope 'n' anchor in 79 and they were OK then I saw them at the Bridgehouse in June 1980 and it was incredible - they'd improved a hell of a lot - it's the same old story where the second album just creeps out because of contract reasons and then they're dropped - it could have been so different if they'd been allowed to grow - Pet rock (and the singles just before it) is a classic.
Never heard of them until I went to see Hall and Oates in Oxford in 1980 where they were the opening act. I was amazed by their performance, and thought, "these guys are going to be big". Unfortunately, the only song I ever heard played on the British radio by them was "Take me to your leader".
Boy, did these guys knock me out when I first heard them! Their first LP, "The Sound of Sunbathing", was loaded with juicy tracks. This is one of them...
"Not feeling myself right now... Stop feeling yourself right now!" Loved this New Wave album when it came out in 79. Currently I can't find it on CD or mp3.
Oddly enough my sister-in-law and her then boyfriend managed the Sincero's until it all went tits up. Saw them live several times. Still got the The sound of Sunbathing in ORANGE Vinyl
Thanks for uploading this great song from a great band. They should have been far more successful as the quality of both of their albums is exceptionallly high. I have both albums on mp3, but can't find this version (the single version) online at all. Anyone out there got it in a decent bitrate?
These guys were friends of a friend so I got to see them about half a dozen times through 1979. Great live but poorly managed commercially by CBS who were more focussed on Mother's Finest and STeve Forbert.
For vinyl, maybe ebay. For the tracks in mp3 format, there's a few blogs that offer them for free. They put them on rapidshare in a RAR file. You have to download the RAR file and use 7-Zip to extract the mp3 files from the RAR file. If a password is needed by 7-Zip to do the extraction, the blogs will tell you what it is. Sometimes another format instead of RAR is used, but RAR is the most common. Whichever blog you use will give you instructions.
this is one of the contributions from 'the sinceros' to 'the now wave sampler' 1979. definitely reminds me of 0ing0 b0in90. this is proof that if used correctly u-tube isn't a waste of time; just a time machine where you can revisit the past; in a non-nostagic, enriching, info-gathering way. happy hunting comrades.
Wow. If anyone knows what that organ is that the organ player is playing, can you please, please, tell me what make and model it is. Not to mention that really cool stand. If you comment, I will respond. I am a keyboard player myself and I collect older vintage synthesizers and would love to add that to my collection. I never even heard an organ make sounds like that before either. Thank you to anyone in advance for any information.
I bought the album when it came out and had no idea what thesee guys looked like,I thought they would look retro 60's looking at the cover but they just look plain and simple. Not a great album They have a lot of great peaks i their songs but the songs maybe because of cetain notation do not become as interesting as they could've been yet I would give it a 6/10 for originality.
Fantastic song... made me want to be a bassplayer and I did become one.
I was lucky enough to see them live and have both albums on cd. Fantastic band with great songs there is no justice in the music business !

Indeed a long fogotten band. This song was Sinceros' only hit in the Netherlands. Thanks for uploading!

The sound of sunbathing was my favorite albumn for months. Great nostagia trip.
I modeled my keyboard playing on this band lol.
Saw them in concert at Goldsmiths college London 1979 /80. Still have the orange vinyl record.....sound of sunbathing

Saw them at the Bridgehouse Canning Town- they were very good and should have made it big.
Some sailing, a nice walk and cocktail time, best soundtrack for my summer days since foreverrr. Such an underrated band!
Actually, the bassist is Ron Francois, who went on to play bass for the Eurogliders. Ron & Blair do look kind of alike.
"Not feeling myself right now... Stop feeling yourself right now!" Loved this New Wave album when it came out in 79. Currently I can't find it on CD or mp3.
the most underrated band of the 80s? probably.....
Oddly enough my sister-in-law and her then boyfriend managed the Sincero's until it all went tits up. Saw them live several times. Still got the The sound of Sunbathing in ORANGE Vinyl
Absolutely lovely!
Excellent!,I still have Pet Sounds.Brings back memories of times gone by.
Drummer/Producer Bobby Irwin died 8 May 2015 age 62 RIP.
+bazbee So he was about 26 when this song was out in 1979.
Their best tune.
My band supported them a couple of times, great band, lovely bunch people too, even let us do a proper sound check.
This is the closest I will ever come to seeing one of my absolute most favorite bands ever live.
Anyone ever see The Riffs in Perth playing cover version of several Sinceros songs including Worlds Apart, Sleight of Hand, Little White Lies.

Saw them at Bginnings in Schaumburg il. I think Scott wilk opened if I remember correctly. Great fun!

magnifico!!!!
The album is been released on cd recently. Check Cherry Red Records.
@BrianWilsonFan66 - the bass player is Ron Francois.
The bass playing is excellent on this song
This has a 1982 Valley Girl sound after disco but before the new wave invasion of 1983. Their appearance is definitely late 1970s though.
Wish I could find some of their Pet Rock album videos.

The keyboardist went on to perform and record with Squeeze among a lot of other positions with top performers.
And the bass player went on and had success in Australia with local band Eurogliders. Check out the song Heaven (Must Be There) absolute classic !
And the late Bobby Irwin became Nick Lowe’s and Van Morrison’s drummer.
Is this from a European TV show? The 27 seems to indicate a chart position - but sadly the super Sinceros never made the UK Top 40.
Hi Hugh, the song charted at #26 in Adelaide Sth Australia. Top song..
Singer looks like the archetypical WW2 RAF pilot
bassplayer later joined Eurogliders
